Official Thread For Upcoming Eastern Canadian Cruises

I spent some time in the city last week and made an effort to "play tourist".

I don't think that anyone has mentioned our Casino, which is right on the waterfront.

Someone did mention the Harbour Hopper, which is a huge hit and I strongly advise.

We have a unique candy store called the Freak Lunch Box....kids of all ages love this store as it sells vintage products as well as just about any treat that you can imagine.

A favourite for those looking for custom jewellery

I had some fun in this shop as well

Basically, from late spring to fall, you will find the waterfront both entertaining and enchanting. You will hear music from both inside and on outside patios. Restaurants are in abundance and there is something for every taste. There are neat shops tucked in and around all of the streets and I guess my best advice would be to do your homework on what may interest you, but leave time for surprises......again, feel free to ask.

Tim Horton's location in Halifax?!? :confused3
It's the little things in life that please some of us some of the time. :cutie:

Thanks Hockeymom's for that update. Next time we go to Halifax I will have to add that to the list of places to see.:thumbsup2

JillJill,

Oh yes Tim's I believe there is a Tim Horton's in the Ferry Terminal. Actually I did a store location for Halifax and there are 11 between Robie street and the waterfront. :surfweb:

Oh correct me if I am wrong but from the Waterfront to Robie street is either 2 km or 4 km depending on your route.

On your recent Wonder Cruise did you see Igor, a food server? I should go throught the albums and find pics, because the two restaurant servers and the lady looking after our room made our experience the best!

Thanks for this. Had I looked up the addresses they wouldn't have meant anything to me since I've never been there and don't know the streets.
I'll be able to get some TimBits this week and next week in NYC at Penn Station. :hippie:

I don't recall seeing an Igor this past cruise.

uhm... THEY'RE INVADING THE US? :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

The other donut chains better be quaking in their boots.

:worship::worship::worship:

I hope they TAKE OVER the US! :cool1:  :woohoo: I won't go to another donut shop here after eating Tim's.

OK, TimBits, Cows ice cream, beaver tails ... I'm lovin' the possiblities here!:thumbsup2 'Cause you know, we might not have enough snack opportunities on board, right:rotfl2:!
Thanks for all the updates!

DH is making noises that we should reconsider our booking (currently NYC-Canada leaving Aug 12th) and move it up to the June 17th sailing, which is a bit less expensive. Both plans have pluses and minuses with regards to the kids' school schedules. Anyone have any opinions on this itinerary for JUNE vs. AUGUST??:flower3:

Any horse related excursions for either port? I have 2 girls (ages 8 & 11) that would love the chance to ride. Can't book through Disney anyway because of their ages.

You can try this for Saint John. Rockwood Park is easily accessible by taxi or public transport.

Rockwood Stables & Turn of the Century Trolleys
Call 506-633-7659 for sleigh rides for large groups. Reservations must be made in advance, call for rental fee information and hours. For information on public sleigh rides call the stables. Horseback Riding: To make a reservation please contact the Rockwood Stables directly. Horseback riding is offered in the Spring, Summer and Fall Seasons only. Call 506-633-7659, Email: rafter@nbnet.nb.ca

I will let the locals in Halifax speak about that area.

The only negative I can think of other than taking kids out of school, is that some things may not be open that early in June. There will still be a lot to do I am sure. It is a hard call to make because the port adventures are still a mystery.

June can be rainy ( seems like every 3rd yr. or so we don't get spring), but August can be humid. If it were me, I would do August.

I'm still having a bit of a crisis over this because if we go in June we will save around 1500$ on airfare, since there are 6 of us. That's not a small amount of money. But I already have my heart set on August 12th sailing. Is anyone out there on the June 17th sailing?? Can tell me some good things that would make me say "Wow, maybe I really was meant to be on that June sailing!":woohoo:

Well I have thought about this, and I think your right 1500 dollars is a lot of money. June is likely a nice time to go on vacation. I think you will have a great time. As for anyone else going on the cruise in June, here is the link to the Disboards Cruise Meet for june 17. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=40635524#post40635524 The people in that thread are all planning on being on that cruise. You can work with them to do some fun things like the Fish Exchange. As a past cruiser I highly reccommend it. You might also want to search through the cruise line threads for door magnet ideas, another fun idea and some of the people that post on that thread are amazingly talented.

Dear DIS NY-CANADA Friends,
Thank you for the moral support and for the good feedback - yes we changed cruise dates, and as a result, our first DCL cruise is now 2 WHOLE MONTHS EARLIER than previously planned - so I must be BEHIND in my planning now:eek:!
And on that note, I will return this thread to it's original purposes - that of planning and getting excited for our NY-Canada cruises! Back to your regularly scheduled program:goodvibes!
