Official Thread For Upcoming Eastern Canadian Cruises

I truley thank you for taking the time to offer all the advice for all of us over excited planners. We just finished a Dream Cruise on Oct. 13th had a great time and booked our July 2013 cruise your way, so excited. Hope this time we will make a meet and greet as we were postponed and missed our last one. Thanks agian.
Hi folks!!!!

For those of you who will be planning cruises to Halifax, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick, let me extend an early welcome!!!

What I hope to do over the next few months with this thread is to provide information and answer questions about these two ports of call. So if you have any questions, just post them here. I will get answers for you as soon as possible.

Shortly I will be posting maps and links to various sites in these areas. Just bare with me, as the family and I do a little vacationing too.

Stay Tuned!!!

And on that note, I will return this thread to it's original purposes - that of planning and getting excited for our NY-Canada cruises! Back to your regularly scheduled program!

You hardley hijacked the discussion, thats what we are here for, to offer help and suggestions. If this is your first DCL Cruise, we all want it to be so special that you will want to do it again and again and again. Our 5 night Bahamas cruise in July 2010 was so special not only because of DCL, but also because of the Disboards. Thats why I started this thread to hopefully make everyones cruise as fun as ours was. Enough of DCL though, we also want you to come back to Canada again and again and again.

We are all glad to have you aboard. I am desperately waiting for DCL to announce Port Adventures so that we can share our "two cents worth" with you all.

jkpmac:

Thanks for the invite! I've subscribed to this thread and will post anything I hear on Disney's plans here or other points that may interest people.

Enjoy!
Ted in Halifax

....wondering what Disney is planning for port adventures, and when we're going to be able to read about them... Is there a "smiley" for "Patience is not my Virtue"!!
Besides, this thread was wanting a bump.:goodvibes

Eastern Canadians, need your help with suggestions for cruise magnets capturing the flavor of Halifax/Saint John:woohoo:! The DISigners :lovestruc have started making some awesome designs in response to requests for magnets for the NY cruises, but they are heavy on the NY, and need an infusion of the Canadian side of things!! Any ideas:idea:?

I've been brainstorming this, too, since I am working on my own magnet.

There are a few Disney characters that hail from Canada: Winnie the Pooh, Kenai, Koda, Rutt and Tuke. Winne is, and I think the others are, more of Western Canadians, though.

I don't know if folks associate their city with a particular lighthouse, but there are some unique ones to choose from:

Does Pete's Dragon Count since it took place in the fictional town of Passamaquoddy and the Passamaquoddy Bay boarders New Brunswick?

You could always have Eliott the Dragon peaking around one of the lighthouses.

I love the idea. I will see if I can figure out how to do it.

One of our door magnets was done in tartan, red and yellow. They could do someting wth the tartan colours of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. They could also use Sebatian from the little mermaid (seafood). Mickey in a rain slicker, the kind with the hat, I think they call a Sou' Wester would represent either province. I know there is a bad whale in Pinnochio but if another disney movie has a good whale, that could be representative of Saint John and the Bay of Fundy.

Pirates will work, there are islands on the atlantic coast of Nova Scotia and the Bay of Fundy that supposedly have buried treasure.

Just some thoughts

Speaking of tartan, I'm planning to wear a kilt part (if not most) of the voyage. DW won't let me wear it on our Caribbean cruises.

I was thinking the same thing, but when I looked it up, Passamaquoddy is supposed to be a fictional town in Maine. Then again, what's to keep a dragon from flying across the bay?

When I looked it up, it said both sides claimed the fictional town. LOL. I think you could get away with it either way.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of Pete's Dragon though.

Great Ideas:thumbsup2!
Lots to work with here:cool1:!
I love the idea of lighthouses (I'm checking out what lighthouses we'll see from NY as well), Elliot, tartan, rain slickers, whales ... oh my!

How about the whale in Finding Nemo, and Dory, who says something to effect of "I speak whale". That's a good whale. It doesn't eat them, and spits them out in Australia where they wanted to be!:cool1:

The whale in Finding Nemo excellent. I was going to suggest doing a google search for Mickey mouse in Canada for Ideas, there were a few cute pins that showed up, but as I scrolled down further, the images got ummm shall we say less disney like. Nonetheless, perhaps a few google images searches would help, just don't scroll down to far:scared1:

Here are some door magnet options.. like I told my cruise group, not my best, but I was working from those pins that jkpmac mentioned.

What I did for the second one was add the cruise date and "Inaugural Canada Cruise" on the top right. If your cruise date group wants to do the same with their name or something like that, be my guest! You can do it in Photoshop or Paint or anything like that.

Those are excellent!!!

Here is our Tartan One with two different colour fonts

Do a search on Disboards for Jordak. He has also posted a lot of blanks. He also did this as a special request
