Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

Koolgirl, thanks!!! I am definitely leaning towards driving and leaving BWV at 4AM. I hadnt thought about the sitting in your car and waiting part!! I could even bring my coffee and breakfast and eat it then.

Plus, this is going to sound horrible, but my SUV has tall suicide doors that are perfect for using as a port a potty as long as you have a car next to you. I may even keep a blanket in the car to make the third wall, just in case. We have totally done this during tailgates.

Kat I would leave no later than 4am. as it says drivers should arrive no later then 4:30. I expect you will run into traffic, but don't panic it will be fine, disney does this so they know how to move traffic around etc so everyone get to where they should be. I'm drawing a blank on you hotel BWL location. You will be fine driving tomorrow, temps are suppose to be going up with some sun shine.

BW is right next to Epcot. If they would just open a path through it, we could totally walk through. Sigh.

It should be no more than a 5 min drive with no traffic, so I would think 30 would be fine.

Any idea where they have you park? That really is the worst image ever on that pdf with race instructions.

Parking last year was good for me....maybe a block to the first set of porta- potties which was right near the area where we start the 20 min. march to the starting corrals. There was another set of porta-potties near the corrals-now that's good info!

Lots of chatter today, excitement is building.

I like what mom2twolittlesmonsters said about running. It is such a personal sports as each succeeds according to one's own abilities, but we can encourage each other-no need to compare or judge what another is doing we all have our own journey.

Quick questions... Where does the race end??? I'm looking at the map but I can't see it very clear. Does it end in the parking lot of Epcot? Should DH and the kids drive to meet me at the finish line or take Disney transportation? We'll be staying at POR. Thanks!

Just wanted to post a big HAVE FUN! message for all those of you headed to WDW this weekend. As most of you know I am now living in New Mexico so other than random business trips back to my FL base in the panhandle it's much more difficult for me to make it down to the races in FL. As such I won't be there this weekend on the overpass cheering you all through the cloverleaf much to my chagrin. But enjoy the race, you've all earned it. :thumbsup2 I had a blast last year at the Princess with many of you, and it's still my PR. :woohoo:

Somebody post a picture of Matt on the overpass. That way you can at least visualize it.

Is anyone having trouble accessing the Princess page on the Disney Sports site? I can't open the princess program document that I bookmarked last week and I can't open the program directly from the site either!

The PDF document? It opened for me at the above link just now.

They have been changing the site so maybe it's causing problems?

Princess Half works for me...are you looking for specific info?

Race ends in Epcot parking lot? Depending on when you plan to finish..regular buses start running an hour before park opening. Get off bus then finish is on left side parking (left as if you were facing park from the front) hope that makes sense.

Piglet and Joan, thanks for your replies. I tried the link Piglet posted and it still won't open. I'm using Firefox, maybe that is causing a problem. I shut down and restarted in Explorer and it worked. Now I can't get the runner tracking registration link to open. It keeps taking me to the PDF of all the sites that spectators can see. Oh well. If I can't get it to work, I think I can register for tracking at the Expo. Thanks again!

Hi everyone...

Longtime no posting from me - sorry. Been reading and following everyone's progress. Can't wait to meet you all and rock this race.

Question for those who have done this before:

What kind of landmarks are there in the family reunion area? My sister and my parents are coming to watch and I wanted to have a meeting area to catch up with them, but have no clue what this place is going to look like. Any ideas? The only option I could come up with was to have them pick a spot and text me with their location so I can find them.

I leave on Thursday and can't wait!!!!

Bummer you won't be there! Of course when I finally make a trip to FL, you move. At least we got to me at DL last year. :thumbsup2

I run to have a good time, to enjoy the process, and to see all kinds of people who otherwise may not ever meet come together and do something besides sit on the couch. I run for me and for the way it makes me feel. I run to be alone and listen to my music, to relieve stress, for exercise, for not only what it's done on the outside but for my inside too. I run to see the joy that it brings other people when they realize they can do it. I run because you might start alone but somehow along the way you meet people and cheer each other on! I run because I can and it doesn't matter how slow I am!!!

I think there are two kinds of runners, the serious ones and the ones that really enjoy the whole process. Sure we want to beat our time and do our best but we really get out there and run because it's fun and we enjoy the camaraderie with the other runners :)

That's just my .02 cents, lol
Love this! Thanks for putting into words how I feel. ;)

I can't believe how soon I leave - 2 more days of work, plus some packing, and I'll be on my way. EEK! :yay:

I took my camera out for a test run yesterday; it worked out much better than I had anticipated. I ran on the bike path and found out that the city had plowed the path!!

Packing for this weather is so hard! Are any of you bringing your coat? Early morning/later at night will be pretty chilly and I don't think a hoodie would suffice.

I live down the road and I'm wearing my UA cold gear most days at the moment.:lmao:
