Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

Hey everyone-

I'm sure no one remembers me from last year, as I didn't post very much, but I did come to the meets last year the night before and the morning of the half. I told myself I wasn't going to do the princess again this year, and I was hoping to be pregnant by now and use that as my excuse! Well, since it looks like that is not going to happen:sad1: I decided yesterday to sign up! Hopefully it will get me out of my funk.
Of course now I am scrambling around to make travel arrangements, I called this morning and got quotes on rooms, but just like last year I cannot find in my confirmation where they send the discount code for the tickets. Used those last year and they were great.

Would someone please PM me either the code or where I should call to get the code?

Thanks so much and I look forward to sharing the next 24 days with you!

Tracie

deleckidesign - yeah, I'm not countign on the cold going away soon, though. I'm just grateful taht teh path has been claear lately. Of course, that will likely end tomorrow. :guilty: What area are you in?

Just east of Flint. Looks like we're in for 6-10 inches of snow tomorrow. BOO!

Yikes. They're saying worse for you, then. We sort of pass by you all the time enroute to the ILs in Saginaw from the westt side (south of Muskegon).

Tracie - I called teh Disney SPorts Travel # last year - 407-wdw-iRun

Snow! I never watch the weather. I am near Flint too, I have been training indoors on the track at Kettering....track is banked, a big pain, esp when you are doing 72-80 laps.

If you follow my 1 piece of advice, you could never look too bad on the TM. You can go off the back and hardly anyone will notice. It is highly-recommended however that you do not try to get back on to save face. That can be disastrous. :rolleyes1

Yeah....my sis (who is...or maybe WAS doing the Princess) just fell on an uneven sidewalk last weekend and broke her collarbone. The TM isn't quite as hard as concrete!

Everyone is teasing my mom who is running it with me.....since I hurt myself last week and my sister is now hurt. They are saying it's supposed to be the mother (late 50's) with all the injuries not us kids. (we are both in our late 30's)

Yikes! I sprained my wrist on teh uneven sidewalk last year. Didn't realize I was so lucky. I recovered from that (mentally adn physically) easier than teh TM incident, though. Hope your moms tays asafe and you adn your siter heal quickly!

my father (pt specializing in sports/running, running coach, ironman triathlete, all around running guru) says for first timers, you really only need to go go 10 once, and 8 is the magic number (if you can do 8, you'll finish 13.1). he only encourages the longer 12s when your body is more used to the distance, and when you are training to race for a specific time goal. he says he prefers the distance newbies to have fresher muscles at race day. so it sounds like everyone is more than enough on the right path to finishing!!

This was very comforting to read. Obviously your dad knows what he is talking about ;) I have heard similar but never really thought it to be true--especially when you are out there running feeling like you could never finish 13! Thanks for the pep talk!!!

I'm amazed at anyone that can do that long of a run on a treadmill. I don't know what it is, but put me outside, I can go for miles. Put me on a treadmill and I convince myself that I might die if I don't stop (usually by 2 miles!) :rotfl2: I know it's mental, but so true for me! I did my 10 mile run Saturday and it was about 38 outside. I tried the Cliff shot blocks ( I think that's what they are called) and loved them. It's getting close!

Thanks for all the info about the hills on the course!:worship:

Yes--LOVE shot blocks! I used them too this weekend and was really amazed how good I felt after taking a few. I'll be stashing them in my spy bag race day for sure!!

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your sister! I hope she has a quick recovery and your can convince her to train for 2011! I am sure you and your mom are sad she'll be missing this year's race. :(

Don't know if anyone has answered this yet but just call the 1-800 number listed and they will tell you what's available and also give you discounts on the room and park tickets. Make sure you tell them your running! Good luck!!

glad i was able to help everyone/make everyone feel better! looks like i'm going to have to take some of my own advice about being ok with missing a run or 2....was up all last night with food poisoning thanks to a contaminated bag of prewashed spinach. clearly not spinning today, most likely not running tomorrow, and hope to be back on the wagon by wed/thurs. i love when i tell my friends/family what happened one of the first things out of their mouths are all "dont go the gym today!!!!" i can barely get out of bed, even i'm not that crazy to try and workout...

I hope everyone recovers quickly from their injuries. What a disappointment for your sister. Please take care. I am doing the Princess with my daughter as well and lately we have been getting overly cautious ( with the snow and ice) because it is getting very close now.

Yes, and now here is some pixie dust to help you recover quickly.pixiedust:pixiedust:

Too funny! Isn't that the truth!

I need to get a physical soon, I might just schedule it this week and see if the dr will give me a script for something...not sure how all that works, but I have been told that progesterone will work.

Progesterone will work. You will take it every day and then when you stop taking it, your period will start. Best of luck!

Brookie, open up the Princess page and it is on the right in the Bulletin Board. You'll need to click on a couple links before you can print it.

Okay ladies, let's hear your bib #'s. Would the OP like to keep a list? If not I'll go back to my first post (#2 or #3 on the first page) and make that the bib list. Let me know!

Here's my # : 7454

(I guess that's what I get for registering late!)
