Now I'm wondering if I should switch to the Walk/Run plan. Again, my worry is that if I do so, I won't be able to keep my time down in order to keep from getting swept. I'm really scared and almost thinking about giving up--but this is one that that I actually want to finish for once in my life. Anyone have any advice/insight???
Mickey1024 where did you find an 8 week program?
Disney_mommy I have used Hal Higdon training and really like it. I was to start his program the first of Dec., but got sick and it is taking a long time getting better and I'm looking for a shortened training program.
I am in no way a runner (I'm doing Hal Higdon's walking half-marathon training plan, here), but I think I might have some insight into the training dilemmas. I've done a lot of research and I've come to the conclusion that the plans aren't so much for increasing your time as getting your body used to the mileage. So, if you're worried about being swept (as I am), just do the training plan that works for you and build up the mileage and stamina. As long as you push yourself a little each time (time or length wise) you will continue to get faster. I'm hoping the adrenaline and excitement of the event help push me to go a bit faster as well.
These are the things I've been telling myself, so I thought others might take comfort from this info. as well.![]()
