Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

Thanks to Kirstie, I now have it on my website at http://disneyrunning.com/2010PrincessHalfRaceApplilcation.pdf

Have to save money whenever you can!

I have a few questions before I officially register...

I don't see a spot on the mail-in form about choosing what princess you want on your bib. Is this for registering online only?

And also, should I anticipate the tshirt they give us to run small/large/right on size? I can wear anything from a small to a large depending on the shirt, but I usually go with medium. Are the shirts short or long? I'm tall so... yeah. Short shirts aren't good for me haha.

Just wirte "My Favorite Prcess is xxxxx" just under the payment section of the entry form in nice clear print. When you get your confirmation verify that they understood.

The princesses are:

Ariel
Belle
Cinderella
Sleeping Beauty
Snow White
Tiana

When you order the shirt, this is the message they give:

(These shirts are ladies cut tech tees and tend to run small. We suggest you order one size larger than normal.)

Thanks everyone! That helps. I'm going to send my registration in next week. Now to decide which princess to choose...

I am looking for some tips on what to wear race day. Any specific brand or items that anyone can recommend? Can I find seemless shorts or capris? Anyone do this last year and have a warning on what not to wear?

I am new to this and am just using normal exercise clothes but I can see where after many miles the things I normally wear might start to irritate me so any and all suggestions would be most appreciated.

Anyone doing a 12 or 14 week training program starting now? I was training earlier but I fell off the wagon a little during the end of my grad school semester. I can run three miles without stopping so I can start a 12 week program on Monday. I'm at Fort Wilderness right now for my now 3 year old's birthday!

Just wondering if anyone is starting training now so I don't feel so behind :)

I swear by all things from Atalanta Athleticwear (skirtgoddess.com). I love their Commitment skirts (these have the shorts under and they also make a skirt with just briefs that is great) and have most of the colors. For colder weather I wear the Redetermination Skirt (capri combo) and the Courage tops. The Grace top is great for warmer weather. Their products are made very well and the customer service is top notch. Good luck!

I just started the 2nd week of my 14 week program today, so you're not behind at all!!:thumbsup2

kellbell...look for clothing that wicks away moisture. That is going to help protect your skin. I like any of the running clothing made by Nike and UnderArmor...I have run marathons in their clothing with minimal irritation. Also, I totally recommend using an anti-chaffing barrier like BodyGlide to help minimize irritation. Put in on places where your skin rubs against itself or where your clothing rubs against your skin (like your sports bra). It is also effective to reduce blistering on your feet if you're prone to that. Hope that helps!

Does someone who is watching the race need to use a park ticket to get into the Magic Kingdom if that is where they want to view the race from?

Maybe I missed it, so I thought I better ask.

Will we have a Saturday night pasta party? I seem to recall that happening last year... Where was it again?

A friend just informed me about marathonrookie.com (another dis'er), which has a 10 week program.......so you have plenty of time to start this plan too. I was going to do the Halgdon program which was 12 weeks, but this site has a more even paced program I think. Not sure, but the differance is only 2 weeks in time, anyway you look at it you have plenty of time!

I was messing around on this site trying to design a custom shirt to wear during the race (they have wicking tshirts!), when I decided to try designing just a regular tshirt to wear the day before/after the race. Using their available fonts and clip art, I think it looks pretty close to the actual logo, don't you?

Thanks, UGAFan and swim-mom, for the encouragement! I'm going to check out marathonrookie.com. I also found the 14 week Marathoning for Mortals schedule and I like it. I can just start two weeks in.

Hi there!

Count me in for the 2nd annual Princess 1/2 Marathon! My official training begins tomorrow (although running begins Tuesday)! I'm doing a 12-week plan using Hal Higdon's novice 1/2 marathon training plan as my guide. I just ran the RNR Las Vegas 1/2 last weekend and am trying to get rid of some knee/ITB pain. My plan is to run less (3x/week max) and supplement my running with weight training and weekly yoga and spin classes.

Looking forward to chatting with you over the next few months!
