Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

niffynurl & sunshine girl :welcome:

I told my mom about disboards and this thread in particular last night. She was really interested and may be joining us (Hi Mom:wave2: ps no lurking say hi!)

My 6 miles yesterday was ok....mile 2 was awful, my legs were so tired and I was starting to wonder how on earth I would be able to run 13! Then I hit mile 3 and everything was fine, legs felt great and I ran a mile and a half without stopping. I have 14 miles next Saturday and then taking it easy until our 1/2! I'm going to use my sport beans and see if that helps with the "mile 2 wall"

niffynurl & sunshine girl - Welcome!!

swim_mom - :banana::banana::banana: Great news!

I think I am finally ready with my race gear after a little shopping this past weekend. Still figuring out exactly what I'll carry in my belt versus pockets versus leave in the hotel!
After all the sports bra talk last week, I was bummed that Champion is backordered on my size of that one several people recommended. However, I lucked out and my local REI sports store had my size on the rack! I'm shocked because I usually have to special order.

who would have ever thought that being sore was a good thing?!?! :rotfl2::rotfl2: Better yet, I would never be the one who is so happy to have run 10miles - my husband and 4 children think i am crazy!! :rotfl::rotfl: (ok, i am just a bit)

My thighs are so sore!! and with every step I am reminded that I can do this in 3 weeks!!!

omg!!

Hugs to those of you who are running today!!

My run schedule this week is 4, 4, 5 & a LR of 9 :)

Oh the weather outside is frightful...... Nine inches on snow today and that's on top of the foot or so that we already have. Another snow storm is coming this weekend. Luckily, I got in a 7 mile, an 8 mile and a 9 mile walk last week in South Carolina. I am limited to the track at the Rec Center, but I can't get there with all the snow!! Oh well, hope my training for the Donald Half Marathon holds up for this race! The worst part is that the weather is keeping me from shopping for my tiara!

Well, today I believe I can run the half!!! :lovestruc ;)

I have been struggling since I came back from Disney Jan 31st to run, I had the bug which truly just kept me down. I did 5 on Wed, and was so happy ---I knew I had to do 3 more runs but decided to do only 2 more to give myself a break. WELL>>>>>>>>>> life got in the way AGAIN!!

Bottom line tonight I did 10 miles on my TM (thank god to my amazing dh who got it for me, BEFORE all of this fab snow storms)!! I ran the whole thing :banana: in 1:57!! I am hoping for a 2:30 to 2:45 finish time, it is my first 1/2 but OMG it is so real now!!

Before I ran I knew I could do it, because my longest run was 8 miles, but after 10 tonight!! Their is no doubt I can do it and I will!!

P.S. I still do not have airfare, but I do have a hotel - so Im not that far behind!!

Congrats to everyone, who keeps putting one foot in front of the other!! We are almost there!!! :lovestruc

Swim-mom, I am so happy for you!!! I am really excited that you have been feeling good and staying well. You are an inspiration!!

I did my 10 in the basically the same time as you, 1:55, but I do run/walk intervals. I wish I could run the whole thing so I could tag along behind you! :)

We're almost there!! Keep it up!

If you can do it in 1:55, then you can run it too  - have alittle faith in yourself and you can do it.

If we are in the same corral, it would be great to run together cause I wont let you walk because you are capable of running it!!

Anyone know about the corrals?

Hello everyone!

I have a question for the veterans of this race. :)

We have two people in our group with different paces...so my question is:

What corral were you assigned to last year? And what time did you submit as your estimated finishing time?

Any help would be much appreciated! :)

ETA: swim-mom - we are thinking alike! :)

Hi everyone!! I completed my 10 miler on a Treadmill this past Sunday!! OMG.. that's a long time on a TM! LOL But, i am convinced i can do this if i can do 10 - i can do 13.. i am still sore today, but not too bad..... forgot what it's like to "feel" like this - it's been a while! LOL

Congrats to all those who are kickin' butt on their workouts!!!! I love reading about the accomplishments and how far we have come from the beginning when some weren't sure they could even do it! That is awesome!!!

As for corrals, i posted a time of 3:15 (or something close to it -whatever the "next to last" time frame option was) last year i believe, and i was put in corral B (the middle corral).. hoping that's where i am this year too! Knowing there are lots of people behind you at the start is a great thing!! LOL

I can't believe it is getting so close! We leave 2 weeks from this Thurs!! I just sure hope it warms up down there! I am searching for some "throw away" clothes ---- i was freezing at the start last year, and my trashbag came in handy!!

Stacy - COngrats on your 10!

swim_mom - I put down 2:19 for my tiem this year, but a 1:55 for 10 miles is liley closer to my real pace. If we're in teh sma corral,. maybe we can give it a whilr!

Last year, I put down 2:30 and was in A corral. :scared1: I have NEVER been so close tot eh start! Felt like an elite! :rotfl:

I just want to say how inspirational all of you are!!! I read how you're running in the snow and cold and I'm just in awe of you all :woohoo: I don't run outside if it's under 50 degrees, lol! Anyways it's great to read everyone's post and know that I can do this. I really hope to meet some of you and be able to put faces to names.

Good luck with your training this week! It's sooooo close!!!!! :yay:

Me either and its that temp over half the year here in MI, lol! I have never trained before in the winter in my life, I'm a seasonal runner.

My mom keeps trying to convince me to train outdoors with her, but I have stuck to the gym.

Did 10 miles on Saturday......80 laps, sooo boring!!!! I am looking forward to better weather and better scenery at Disney! (fingers crossed the weather is nice)

Brookie:

It is good to see someone else who does laps in a gym. We have an indoor track at our rec center. 10 laps in a mile. I prefer to walk outside, even in cold weather. But, since we have set a record for snowfall, I am in the gym. Fortunately, I did long walks of 7 miles, 8 miles, and 9 miles last week in South Carolina. But, now, I'm doing walks in the rec center. It sure is hard to get myself to go for a longer distance! Hopefully, you will inspire me to get going!

Meg

Wow, 80 laps!!! That is nuts!!!! Congratulations! The race at Disney will be a breeze for you. You will be so distracted by the scenery that it will be over before you know it!

Thanks girls! The gym is 8 laps for a mile, we are using pennies as counters since we seem to forget to hit the actual counter. It's funny we have a cup that we put the pennies it. People look at us like we are crazy, wish the Garmin worked indoors, would be much easier. The track is banked which really stinks, hard on the knees.

The furthest I have ever did has been 10 miles (I have only did this about a half dozen times). I am nervous about adding three. Right now I don't think we are going to do 13 before the race. Is anyone else just sticking to 10 before the race. They say if you can do 10 you can do 13, but do people say that while they are at the 10 mile mark or just in theory?

I finally pulled out the luggage and put a few things in it, getting excited!

Brookie - I have now done 5 full marathons adn over 10 half marathons. I have never gone above 10 before a half (unless it was during full traiing) and have never done ove 20 training for a full. I'm a mid-packer in WDW races, but it gets me there.

Ugh, our indoor track is 12 laps. We did do 10 once, but it was NOT fun! Plus, I am lopsided, so one wayis extra hard on my legs. Seems it's very rare for me to hit the day that the track direciton that works for me. :guilty:

congrats to everyone that did their 10 miles this weekend.....still sick her so it looks like I will be doing it next weekend. It is in my chest and I am out of breath climbing a set of stairs:scared1: I feel like I am a lazy blob I can't believe I used to be inactive every week:confused3

I haven't started packing because I want to pack all shorts and swim suits but the weather isn't telling hte same story.

There are a few people walking around the parks in short and tees, but most are bundled up as it is COLD here.

I know its not cold for the most of you, but for FL it is. The high today was 54 and the nights are dropping to 34.

I'm hoping that the weather will warm up, but I have my cold gear out and my heat gear is put away.
