Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

HockeyKat - Thanks for the bra info! That one looks great. Thanks for trying to work something out for me for race day :) I'm so glad that I'm finding others who are going it alone and want company/support too! Great job on the 3m TM run, 39min is a great time. Hope your shins feel better soon! I usually get problems with my hips and then I went to a massage therapist and she said my pelvic bone was tilted and gave me some tips on how to run without putting so much pressure on them, it worked too! I still have to stretch them before and after though.

mla1977 - Thanks for link, that bra looks pretty good too. I want something that is going to strap these babies down. My pet peeve is seeing women jogging/running/walking and their ****s are about to hit them in the face! It looks seriously uncomfortable! lol

Stormin'theCastle - When I called the Disney rep to make reservations for a room she stated that the only transportation to the Expo would be from Hollywood Studios and that I could take the bus from the hotel to HS then to the Expo but it would be quicker to take my car or a cab. HTH

sailors wfe - You are most definitely welcome to join us!!! The more support the better:thumbsup2 I will send you a message and we can work out how we're going to all meet up.

Can't wait to meet up with everyone!!!

No problem Shawna! Like I said, I'll double check the style # when I get home, but the one I wear controls the bounce and doesn't feel like I'm wrapped up with an Ace bandage.

Sure! I would hate for anyone to be alone.

So far my shins seem to be okay. I think my problems stem from my worn out shoes from last week, and from breaking in new ones starting Saturday. Hopefully as they break in I will have less issues.

My hips hurt sometimes too, but that is usually from ice hockey and not wogging. Probably something about the way I skate.

The thing I like the best about the bra is that it keeps everything in place without feeling like a tourniquet. It is underwire, though, for those that don't like that... I prefer it. I am generally a 36D, so I got the 34-36D/DD and it is perfect.

I have been wondering about the transportation to WWOS, I know they are supposed to go from the race hotels, is there a shuttle to each park from WWOS?

We were thinking we might head over to Epcot on Friday and were thinking about taking a mid day break and heading over to the Expo. Is there a WWOS bus that leaves from Epcot or would we have to to take the shuttle back to our hotel and then another to WWOS? Not sure if anyone might know from last year or other Disney marathons.

Last I knew, DHS (sorry, I'll never get MGM out of my head) is the only on with a bus to WWoS. Techinically, you can walk to DHS from Epcot, though.

Kat - I will definietly check out your link. I like teh other champions, but they are a PITA to get off. that looks great.

I received my papers today for working the expo: I'm 7:30am till 1pm. Sat.
I hope to see some of you there!!

tina that is too funny.....I can never come up with stuff like that.

Syko I will be at the expo saturday am but how would I no it is you?

HELP NEEDED I woke up SICK today. Very sore throat and stuffed up achy can't breathe:scared1: I am supossed to walk my 10 miles tomorrow but there is no way. I did 8 the week before last 6 last week and than I should do 10 tomorrrow. My time is right on the fence. should I

should I skip it and do it when I feel better?
try and do my 40 minute walks and hope to do my 10 mile on monday?
do the following weeks 6 mile on Monday and my 10 mile the week after?

I knew I shouldn't have went to great wolf lodge last weeekend I get sick everytime. I really wanted to get the 10 behind me because I am starting to really doubt myself and I know once that is behind me I will feel better about it.
thanks for reading my long sob story;)

Listen to your body, skip it. You have all your training done, you can do this, if you push yourself now you risk making yourself worse and maybe not being able to do the Princess.

If you body says take the week of, then thats is what yo do. I did the Princess last year with only a week of training.

You have done 8 miles, that is past the MK and on your way home, the excitement of the day will get you home.
You are worried about the 10 because the race is getting close, not that you can't do it.
You are having these feelings as it's your first race......everybody does this, take time off, get healthy and I'll be sitting at the finish line shouting at all the Wisher's comming in.

As for the expo, look for a purple wheelchair. I am also thinking of getting on of those small tiaras they sell in BBB to put infront of my bun.

Tina - Love the Deal Last Princess one. I would work that into the WISH motto. DLP>DNF?>>DNS> I am so partial to the WISH motto, though. I did love all your ideas!

TreehugginMamm - Syko is right (but most peopel need to hear this repeatedly as it's scary to swallow the first time). Your body needs rest more than anything. just skip it and go back to your schedule when your body feels up to it, no sooner. I had a year when I did not do a single step 1.5 to 2 weekss before marathon because I was sick. I was ok. Dh and I haev had years where we did not do teh 2 longest runs. We were ok. Listening to your body is always teh #1 best thing you can do. :grouphug: Hope you feel better soon! :wizard:

Tinashaver Love your slogans (or whatever you call them)

Treehugnmama Skip the 10 miles-it could set you back farther-skip it!

I need some advice, my grandpa has been sick and it has been a very stressful time therefore my training has been on the far back burner! :( I leave for disney in exactly 2 weeks! Do I have enough time to run the 1/2 still. I am athletic, the longest run I have did was 5 miles about a month ago. I am going to try and see if I can get 10 miles done today, by walking and running. If I stay dedicated these next two weeks do you think I will be able to finish the princess. My goal is just to finish it, this is my first 1/2

I say yes go for it but maybe try6 or 8 this week plus some small runs and then maybe 10 the following week..... thats just my thought! I hope your grandpa is doing better!

Yes you can. When you run try thinking of your grandpa and i'm sure that will get you to the finish line.

My Dh has done the WDW marathon without a single day of training, and he finished within the time, now I would never reccommend it, but it can be done.

Come and have some fun.

I'd go for it, BUT I'd cut the pace lots, add LOTs of walk and I would not just jump into 10. I'd stick with 8 and if you can easily stay withing 14 or 15 mpm, you wil be good to go. Adding that walk will do wonders for yoiur abliity to go the distance.

OMG-it's snowing...again and it's cold! I'm so tired of this. DH said to look up tickets to a warmer place and we could fly out tomorrow! I think he is kidding me, but he knows better as I can't take much more of this cold.

I couldn't be more with you. I moved South for a reason! This winter has been so cold.

I have a few t-shirt slogan ideas to share. I didn't write any of these, btw.

Half of crazy is still crazy

Forward is a pace

Slow is the new fast

Beat the bus

One of my friends that I am running with actually sent me a shirt that said this...

"A Half Marathon is just a 5k with a 10 mile warm up"

:rotfl::rotfl:

Ok ladies need some ideas... My mom has been walking on a treadmill and her hip right below her butt cheek :headache: has been bothering her. Any ideas why or how to work it out? TIA
