Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

Hmm. Has she tried ice and rest? I am not sure what muscle that is... also, she may want to find a sports massage therapist. My gym has one onsite, although I have never used her. I am considering checking her out next week though, since my shins have been hurting.

So, I have 3 choices today.
1) Go do my 10 miles on the treadmill (boo).
2) Suck it up in the cold (~34) and see if the trail is open.
3) Wait until tomorrow (~43), but I have a hockey game also at 6:30.

My shins are still a little sore, as well.

Also, how long can you go between long wogs? I have a hockey tournament next week (game Fri, 2 games Sat, 1 game Sun), so doing my 11.5 is not really going to work out during the weekend. Would it be okay for me to do it Thurs AM? Or would Mon be better?

Hey Kat I would do Monday to give your legs a chance to recoup. Maybe do a short run on Thursday like 3 - 5 miles. Good luck on your tournament! :cheer2:

Ok ladies need some ideas... My mom has been walking on a treadmill and her hip right below her butt cheek :headache: has been bothering her. Any ideas why or how to work it out? TIA

Tell her to stretch before and after her workout. Try this website, it has pictures of each exercise and an explanation of how to do it. There is no way I could explain it, lol! Sounds like her IBS. Good luck!

I have had a very sore hip too. I feel your mothers pain. I am a walker and it is too the point I have been jogging (if you can call it that at a 16 minute mile lol) the last two miles because it feels differen on my hip.

tinashaver could it be her hamstring? If so stretch, and stretch and stretch after walking on the TM. You could also try some Alleve and ice or sit in a cold bath.

Kat I'm right there with you on the TM-I don't have any hockey game to deal with (did play field hockey in HS-oh so very long ago). I shall do my last long run (10 miles) Monday-oh did I hear that they are calling for MORE SNOW in NC on Monday-guess I'll be on the (drum roll) TREADMILL!

Okay ladies-hope everyone is coming to the end of their long runs and now we can taper and look forward to seeing Mickey!

I did 9 miles on the TM. 2:00:15. Got kicked out, because they were closing, or I would have done 10.

I will do 11.5 on Thurs AM, as long as the weather cooperates.

Joan4Mickey, sucks, doesn't it?? They say tomorrow is supposed to be nicer, but I didn't want to risk wimping out.

Currently icing my shins and drinking a Bud Select 55.

I can't believe we're three weeks away from race day!

Today my fiance and I ran a Valentines "couples" race. He did the 5mile loop and I did the 6K loop, then they take your combined time as your team time. It was about 28 degrees at the start - it was my first day running outside since early fall! I'd been training exclusively on the treadmill since November and I actually don't mind it. Could be the fact that they have tvs on them which makes the run go by a little faster... tomorrow is my long run and I should be doing 8 or 9 miles.

And for the record, I used my SPIbelt for the first time today and I kept my iphone and keys in it. I totally forgot it was on until the end of the race when my fiance asked me how it worked out! It didn't bounce at all. I'm so glad I bought it for the race.

Did I read that on facebook today????;)

I'm doing the Wish V-day 10k today. It's my only race for Febuary! I'm going to try and run it like a real race so I can estimate how long it will take me to do the 1/2 in 20 days(!).

Next week is my last long run before the race; I can't belive it's so close. I've been training for almost a year now. I want to pack my bags right now :rotfl:

How is everyone else doing?

Heading out for 8m in the cold (it's about 29 degrees here today). Not looking forward to it but at least the sun is out!

3 MORE WEEKS TO GO!!!!!

I'm sure this info is on here or the disney site but I thought I might could find out quicker by asking.. are ipods/mp3 players allowed?

Also, where is everyone eating Saturday night before the race? Just thought it would be fun to hear some of your plans!

Yes you can, just keep the volume down low enough so that you can hear what is going on around you.

ok. great. My training buddy is a seasoned full marathon runner and she has ran the 1/2 and full at Disney and said we couldn't have them. I'm glad that's not the case! I need my music after I'm too tired to carry on a conversation!

I want to throw my hat in the bunch. I will be doing both the half and 5k. I will be walking both and have been working on my pace. I can finally do under 16 min.

I am usually not a poster, but this group is so supportive, it has inspired me to chat. I hope to see you there.

DD and I did our 12m today. :worship: Now, we can taper.
I actually did it and felt OK. :yay: I actually feel like I am ready and able to accomplish the Princess Half. :woohoo:
It has been a very good Valentine's Day.

I don't know if I've posted on this thread yet or not. I'm doing the princess half and staying at Pop (unless I change my mind in the next few days and switch to a moderate with a hot tub...)!

My training has been sketchy. I did the Disney half in January and it went well, but have had limited time to train in the month since the race. I am managing to get in some long runs (did 11.5 miles yesterday, with a little walking interspersed) but haven't done as many of the short ones as I should!

Still, I can't wait for the weekend!! And for that super cool medal...

Good luck everyone! :sunny:

Welcome niffynurl there are alot of walkers here...and don't forget to find the thread and post your race numbers.

grstink isn't it a great feeling to know "yes, I CAN do this"

I haven't posted much this year because I've been so busy with a new job, but I was really active on last year's princess thread! My running group and I are doing 10 next Sunday and then I am into active taper. I am so excited! We've been training for this race since September 12 and I'm ready for it to be here already.

I'm also ready for a Disney vacation and excited to stay at POR for the first time. :) Lastly, I'm pumped for my friend Karen, who is running her first race ever at the Royal Family 5k, which was my first race ever last year. We'll be getting up early to watch her cross the finish line, and then racing over to DHS to ride TSM during extra magic hours. :3dglasses

Wow, I can't believe it is only 3 weeks away! I'm ready, I think. I had a couple of of super bad runs early last week, as in 1 and then 2 and then walked home. Then I had a good 6 mile run, stopped at the gym for weights and ran a mile home. Did a long run too, I went out for 11 and was feeling great. I took a nice gu & potty break at mile 7 then ran almost 6 more miles. I was so proud, and I was even able to walk the next day.

I REALLY hope it starts to warm up a bit around here. It has been in the 30's & 40's with a brutal wind, not what I want for the race.

Well, today I believe I can run the half!!! :lovestruc ;)

I have been struggling since I came back from Disney Jan 31st to run, I had the bug which truly just kept me down. I did 5 on Wed, and was so happy ---I knew I had to do 3 more runs but decided to do only 2 more to give myself a break. WELL>>>>>>>>>> life got in the way AGAIN!!

Bottom line tonight I did 10 miles on my TM (thank god to my amazing dh who got it for me, BEFORE all of this fab snow storms)!! I ran the whole thing :banana: in 1:57!! I am hoping for a 2:30 to 2:45 finish time, it is my first 1/2 but OMG it is so real now!!

Before I ran I knew I could do it, because my longest run was 8 miles, but after 10 tonight!! Their is no doubt I can do it and I will!!

P.S. I still do not have airfare, but I do have a hotel - so Im not that far behind!!

Congrats to everyone, who keeps putting one foot in front of the other!! We are almost there!!! :lovestruc
