** OFFICIAL Survivor: Cook Islands Thread ** ‘Survivor’s’ new racial divide

Good episode last night. My 2 favorite scenes-
-Candace crying on Exile Island that it is hard for her to see people she likes hate her so much. Is she that dumb? She should know that the Aitu tribe lost all good feelings for her the minute she stepped off their mat and mutinied. I read on another website that Raro (Candace and Jonathan included) whooped it up and celebrated after the mutiny and before the reward challenge. So Aitu "punishing" Candace is justified, IMO.

-Parvati reading the message in the bottle and then saying, "That's not- fun". Hee Hee. They were so sure it was going to be a merge- the slack-jawed looks of bemused anger were priceless. Than, after Jenny got the boot, Nate had the biggest "D'oh!!" look on his face. I think it dawned on him right then that he is the only non-white member of Raro (and he's probably next to go).

I looked at the Survivor popularity poll on CBS's website last night and was shocked to see Candice had the highest votes (followed closely by Ozzy and Yul). But CANDICE???

Yeah they are doing it a little different this time. Brad was the first voted off to be on the jury. I think its safe to say none of Jenny's old tribe will be getting her vote :rotfl:

Stupid question - are Rebecca and Jenny also in the Jury? You would think so, but I don't recall Jeff saying anything about their being the next members of the jury.

Yes Im pretty sure they are.

Okay, am I the only one who thinks that, had Aitu lost last night, Jeff would have switched bottles and the note would have been different?
::yes::
I agree with you. I think it's very possible that the message would be different depending on who won.

Yes, I believe he said that both of them are on the jury.
::yes:: I heard him say that.

That surprises me too.
Maybe they feel sorry for her?

Thanks, I was watching it after midnight annd probably nodded off a bit. I knew it didn't make sense to start placing people on the jury and then skip a few.

I'm still wondering what twist we'll get regarding the jury. With Brad as the first member, that leaves a 10 person jury for the final two. Those numbers aren't adding up to me...

What do you think they might do for a twist? A final three, jury choose one or *shudder the thought* allow America the call-in vote as the collcetive eleventh member of the jury for a final two?

Remember a few challenges back, when Aitu got to sit in on Raro's tribal council and eat? They could "kidnap" one Raro member, and they chose Nate. Makes me think he's got friends in Aitu (he seems likable enough). Might he switch things up if there's a merge? He's got to see how things are heading among the Raro members. .

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I absolutely agree that there was another bottle with another message if Aitu had won (like Aitu gets to vote off a member of Raro!!!) How boring things would have gotten if Aitu had had to vote off 2. Now things are way more interesting! The Merge is definitely next week (according to TV Guide.)

Leaves the possibility of 2 great scenarios---Nate leaving his "white" team and joining the multi-racial group. Or Yul using his immunity idol to sink a member of Raro!!

Although I don't find this season full of unforgettable "characters" (except for "Cow Boy")---I think the show is really improved this time with better challenges and more twists! (Didn't like the "drag-and-pull-you-through-the-sand" challenge---sand burns must have really hurt!)

America's choice would be cool!

Good episode. The immunity idol played a role last night. I feel sorry for Nate but he should have made an aliance with Ozzy. I loved the way that the youngester dismissed the concept that Yul may have the immunity idol because he was only on the castaway Island for only one day. Yul was very efficient in solving the clues and it should have been obvious to everyone that someone had to have the idol.

Jonathon will be the perfect person to take to the final two in that everyone hates him. After the other three members of his team are eliminated, he is going to need to win some immunity challenges.

It was announced that if Aitu had lost the immunity challenge, then they would have gone into the merge with only two members.

I know Jeff said that but I'm still not convinced! It would have made for lousy television and this is after all a TV show! It's like when Jeff read the names at Tribal---don't you think they've been placed in a more 'suspenseful' order??

I still love the show and think the twists and surprises (especially the looks on the voted-out members who had no clue and thought they were safe!!) have been great! Yul should take Jonathon to the F2---Jon has alienated everyone!!

I really enjoyed last night's episode. Lots of suspense and boy did I whoop and holler when Nate got voted off. Not because I dislike Nate, well I guess I do dislike Nate... but mainly because of the plot twists.

A couple problems with the switched-bottle theory. First, the bottle Jeff shows them is placed near the immunity idol and given to Raro after they lose. Wouldn't they have noticed if a production assistant ran out and switched bottles, or if Jeff asked for another bottle? Granted, Raro has about four brain cells collectively, but at least Jonathan would have noticed.

Second, this series was filmed months ago - Mark Burnett had no way of knowing how popular the Aitu tribe would be, hence no need to "save" them. Somewhere out there are people who love the Raro tribe, popular opinion is as likely to sway any one way as the next.

In Survivor: Guatemala, Bobby Jon and Stephanie were beloved contestants - by the viewing audience and (from all accounts) by the production team. That did not stop them from allowing the Ulong tribe to get decimated in challenge after challenge.

Finally, Mark Burnett has been sued at least twice now, regarding alleged manipulation of the votes and challenges. He has won both lawsuits, but I don't see the logic in courting more by having two bottles in this challenge.

Last night was a great episode! I wish Adam had gone before Nate though. Adam is pretty boring and Nate was an entertaining personality to watch. The stunned expressions of the remaining Raro tribe were priceless!!!

I was pretty happy with the vote this week, I didn't care for nate, I thought he was to cocky. I don't like jonathon though and can't see him lasting much longer! Actually I don't care for Candace either-now that I start this I realize there aren't many I do like this time around LOL...though I really like Yul and the black lady on that team-can't recall her name....
