Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

Yulilin, since we're so close to the first weekend now, do you think we should have people start listing which weekend/day they're going to be there? We could do a copy/paste kind of thing. Like:

Weekend I - May 16, 17, 18

Weekend II - May 23, 24, 25

Weekend III - May 30, 31, June 1

Weekend IV - June 6, 7, 8
Music City Mama (Saturday and Sunday)

Weekend V - June 13, 14, 15
Music City Mama (Friday)

Or something different? I remember the thread having something like this the last couple of years. What do you think?

We can start it here and see how it goes...I remember last years thread got so long that the Dis closed it due to too many post and we had to open another tips and trick thread...so this is for everyone. If you come to this thread and you see that you can't post anything it's because it's closed. I'll open another one when the time comes...

Oh yeah, I remember a separate thread being started by someone about just listing your dates, but then it got moved to the Theme Parks Community or Doing the Happy Dance sub-forum. Well, a Part 2 of this thread will probably have to be started at some point anyway because it's already at 142 pages and they get locked at 250. We have a month before the first SWW and those days leading up to it and those posts starting after that will definitely put this over 250, I think. I'm pretty sure the character dining announcement added like 10 pages to this thread in a matter of 2 days.

Total newbie and really no business commenting, but just my opinion ... personally, I would vote for having it be a different thread. I get email notifications from this thread due to the super-helpful tips. But I would probably unsubscribe if the vast majority of "new notification" emails were people adding themselves to the list. Which would be too bad for me... but I defer to the SWW veterans, of course.

I am new to this thread and this will be our first SWW- we are all very excited. Coming the first weekend 5/16 and we have signed up for the VIP package. My concern is that we haven't gotten a confirmation email and my card hasn't been charged yet- has anyone else that has signed up for VIP tour gotten any word?

I disagree. I have gleaned much valuable information from "farther into this thread" (example: the link to the menu for the SciFi breakfast).

What's the problem with creating a new thread for the who's going when list?

Thank you so much for doing this; really appreciate it. It occurred to me that I only found out about the SciFi character breakfast in the first place from this thread; if I hadn't found out at that point, then I VERY likely would have missed getting a reservation. So I am grateful!

Just thought I would share with you guys about how to avoid the emails but still keep up with the conversation.

Once you have subscribed to a thread the DIS creates a page for you that has links to all of the threads you have subscribed to. I keep that as a quick bookmark in my browser tool bar and on my home computer have set that page as my homepage. You can then turn off the emails. I routinely check my page a couple times a day when I can steal time at work or once home.

This makes it super easy to follow, I click on the last page and then check the date and time on the top post of the page. I then "guess" how many pages I need to go back (if any) to get where I left off. Of course on days like when the SWW character meals were announced you may need to go back further than you think!

[Wish on a Star]

DH and I are going to our first SWW on June 6th. He is the big Star Wars fan in the family and I am the Disney fan and vacation planner. We have had kind of a rough year, and I want the trip to be really special for DH.

We don't have any children yet, so the focus of our trip will be the Parade, Fantastmic, and the shows at the Premiere theater. Here is my question: With Mark Hamill making his FIRST appearance that day, I am worried that it will be complete chaos! Do you think we should get the VIP package to make sure he sees everything he wants to see? I agree that it is expensive- but I don't know when we will be able to visit for another SWW.

What are your thoughts?
