Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

Ok so we missed out on Feel the Force since already booked for our SWW day. Since this is our first time at SWW where would be the best place to stake out for the parade to get good pictures? Should it be by the stage, a place that is shady? And ideas out there that can help us out? Also how far in advance should we look for a spot? Were is the stage located?

Stage is in front of the big blue hat.

If you want curbside at the shady side of the street you should expect to try and hold that location anywhere from 1 and a half to 2 hours.

What MakiraMarlena said...if you face the stage the left side will be shaded for almost the entire wait and parade. You def. need to get a spot early for the best spots.

No photopass people at the celebrity signing, there are for the characters and one or 2 that walk around with the roaming characters...not sure about the character meals.

They don't hand them out of order but you could try and trade with someone else that has a different time slot

Thanks Yulilin3 and lovethattink. That helps. I can't wait.

I too am interested in how the characters interact with the area designated for the Feel the Force VIP viewing area. I would hate to be over there and only be able to get the backs of heads for most of the characters. Hopefully, they do a good job of working both sides of the street.

Poison Ivy: the first picture, the one with Minnie, shows the area that I think they're going to use, under those trees. If you can see in your picture one of the chipmunks are walking very close to the people where I think we will be...
All of the characters that go up on stage go thru the stairs on the left side so I'm sure they'll approach...the only issue here will be everyone standing, since this area is deep there could be a lot of people that will just won't see unless there's a rule that the first 3 to 4 rows of people sit...

Right.

Thanks.

Do you notice how deep it is over there? it's hard to tell, but there is a big area where everyone is gathered around the bend toward the Idol Experience.

and I can see why they'll be dropped off at that stage entrance on the left.

Wish I had followed it more closely last year.

So my thinking was, you may not be able to get the shots that span the length of the parade or get a few characters at a time, as you are more angled around the bend looking toward the stage.

We're heading down for a quick last minute trip June 5 - 7 (can't stay thru the 8th) to be a small part of the Mark Hamill, Billy Dee and Ray Park weekend.

I booked that dessert pkg and now am having second thoughts.

We were very lucky last year to have a front line view on the right side as the parade approached. Great photos for a first time visit. I think we only lined up a 1/2 hr. before it started.

So part of me is very happy with the set of pics we have and not worried about missing that much. The other part of me wants to capture this year with a similar opportunity.

but our weekend is going to be very popular. So all bets are off compared to last year. I know where I'd "like" to stand. And I think the right side of the parade is a great vantage point, but unfortunately, it doesn't protect you from the sun.

I feel like all these star wars new events are happening so fast. Like I can't even be away from this thread for one day or I'll miss something.

I almost kind of hope WDW is done announcing new events. Soooo much money for sww.

Feel the force. Dtech. 2 character meals. VIP experience. Am I missing anything?

It's pretty deep... I can now see them fitting 100+ people there, it'll be a matter of mostly everyone sitting down...

Rebel Rendezvous on May 15th

Has anyone that booked the Ultimate VIP Package gotten their email confirmation yet? It's been two weeks since I reserved it and I know he said it would be awhile. I think we will cancel it now because of the Feel the Force package, but I want to make sure they haven't added something else to the Ultimate since the guy I reserved it from said they were still "fine tuning".

Also, was the Ultimate VIP Package every officially announced on the Disney website? I can't find it.

Nope, never officially announced... they might not have that many VIP guides...

I really think Disney took their cues from the rich families who were hiring handicap people as guides... (The scandal came out about this last summer)

BUT Disney learned from this scandal that people are willing to pay money for shorter lines, not having to wait for parades, fireworks and what not. And they are milking this cash cow from all four utters! And as you can see by just the number of us Dizers that have booked things "IT'S WORKING!!!!" (to quote young Anakin)

We (my boyfriend and I) signed up for:
D-Tech (each of us are getting two figures - storm trooper and x-wings pilot)
Feel the Force Premium Package
H&V Star Wars Dinner
Sci-Fi Star Wars Character Breakfast

The only two pay for SWW events we have not signed up for is the VIP Ultimate package and the Rebel Rendezvous (we will not be there that weekend). And I wouldn’t consider my boyfriend and I rich (just DINKs (double income no kids). There is just two of us to pay for.

They learned this before the handicapped "scandal" broke, with the Fantasmic dining packages and the Tomorrowland dessert party - that people will pay for what they perceive to be a better experience.

Disney has all my money for SWW!!!!! I don't know if I should :rotfl2: or !!!!!!

Loving this thread. It has been the best one I have read from start to finish.

I asked about Rebel Rendezvous if it's a drop in type event or a stay from 10-5 thing. I was told that people may go in and out as they like. I asked if lunch would be available in there? Darth Mall last year had a little concession stand. Was told no. Still no information on which characters will be there or what the "and more" means other than there will be some special surprises.

Yeah I know... Looking at all my ressies I know it's alot of money but I am happy I have every single one! And IF we were going Mark Hamill weekend I would be doing the VIP package just to make sure we saw his show. But I figure with us being weekend 3 we can wait in the lines and catch those no problem. Everything else we have already got covered with little no to lines....

Speaking of lines, particularly character lines - The one I am dying to get a hold of is R2MK!

That's great to hear, I do not take all the credit, there are plenty of us that make this thread great and I won't start naming names beccause I know I'll forget some, but there are a lot of SWW pros that contribute and I think this thread has made an appearance and stayed strong for a couple of years now and the thing I'm most proud of is that there's no negativity, sarcasm or bashing of Disney or of other peoples opinion. :goodvibes
