We are planning to go to SWW on Fri, May 17, first day! Our only real interest is checking out the merchandise and walking around a bit, might stay to see the motorcade if it is noonish. Considering all that, if we got there at 930 or so, are we good to go? We won't do autographs or anything and we will already have been at the studios to do the touring of the park on Thurs. what will we miss if we aren't there when the park opens?

Keep in mind that the first day of sww is huge for merchandise. A lot of people make long lines to get inside the merchandise tent for limited edition merchandise. If you go that day and are not interested in le merch I would go to the tent in the afternoon. You won't miss much if you're not there at opening other than the Stormtroopers on top of the entrance.

My DH and I will be attending our first SWW during our first anniversary trip on May 18th and this thread has helped my planning soooo much. I just have one question about that day; the Disney website has the park listed at closing at 10pm, but says there will be a Fantasmic! showing at 10:30pm. Is that correct/normal?

This is normal. The park will close at 10 so you can't get in or go make a line for 8am attraction, but Fantasmic! will start at 10:30

"scary busy" is vague...some people think it's busy if they have to wait 15min. in a line and some don't mind being at MK with the park at phase 4 closure...
It's busy, not shoulder to shoulder, the regular attractions won't experience a lot of change in crowds other than Star Tours,
Things not to miss, again depends on preference.
We love Hyperspace Hoopla but for that you must grab a spot at least an hour before or be happy watching it in front of the AIE Jumbotron
We love all the shows, and the parade and the characters...maybe if you give a bit more info on your families likes and dislikes we'll be able to help you more.

Same ages as JTA 94 to 12) last year's sign up was next to Sounds Dangerous, there are 2 shows during the day

Just called Dtech carbonite is not in the system

Conflicting reports...just called D-Tech reservations number 407 939 8324 and Carbon Freeze Me will be available for SWW no date on when you can make reservations, aditionally, after using my super sleuthing abilities (me going on the HUB and searching) there will be another option available that I don't think was available last year:
a Storm Trooper figure offering. Storm Trooper figure will feature the Guests' likeness wearing the Storm Trooper uniform holding the helmet
I asked the CM at D-Tech and she confirmed this...so start saving

I have a troop this weekend, then free comic book day, so I ought to have my two officially in time. THen a couple of pics, and voila. Can't imagine it being a problem, made approval on first pass in about 8 hours. And my Detachment CO had no real issues with it that should ding me.

Either way, though, I will be wearing my garrison and legion shirts/hats/whatever proudly while I am there, marching or not.

Fake wood flooring - ive never installed before and again by my self ?? Hope i get it figured out !!

Yes, 7:30 is fine, the Stormtroopers also do a preshow for Stars of the Saga... really funny stuff

Never did flooring, but I think I could figure it out. If you can make armor, you should be able to do that! I got 28703 - my bar number. Exactly what I wanted!

Not sure when you're going but there's usually a studios central meet on the first Saturday... maybe we can plan dis meets for all the weekends?

I can't seem to find if anyone has answered this directly, but my family would be interested in a dis meet on Fri and/or Sat (5/24-5/25). Just let us know details!

Studios Central is a website dedicated to Hollywood Studios, they do a meet the first Saturday of SWW (May 18) at the ABC Commisary at 3pm.
If anyone is interested in meeting I'll be there every Saturday and Sunday of SWW, just let me know. Maybe we can come up with one spot and one time for all weekends so as to not confuse anyone.

DH and I will be wearing our Star Wars T's, but not dressing up. I saw people in cloaks and full on costumes last time we went and it was SO HOT. I felt like dying of heat stroke just looking at them, lol.

Just t-shirts for us (Coordinating though, hahaha!)

I'll be wearing my Her Universe T-Shirts for all weekends...my daughter will be wearing a Darth Vader inspired black dress, nothing too fancy and def. not that hot.
If anyone is planning on going weith Jedi Robes or full Black costumes bring a change of clothes in case you (or your kids) want to change.
