Official So You Think You Can Dance Season 7 Thread

:wave2: Just stopping by ... Loved Kenny Ortega as a Judge! Absolutely LOVED Ade and Comfort's dance ... so emotional and I even felt itas I watched it. That was amazing.
So sad about Billy. Gosh, thats what 3 in a row. :headache:

Ya, I believe it will be Jose, Robert and of course Billy.

I absolutely love Lauren and I am betting she wins it!!!!!!!!!!!!

That Jose/Adechike paso was horrible! Why are they so kind to Jose. He isn't good & hasn't grown the way Dominic, Ryan, Legecy & Hok did.

I don't find him all that attractive & I don't see his charm on TV.

I have to agree that the judges have been overly kind to Jose. In the routine where he sat on the edge of the stage, he proved himself to be a decent actor, showing emotion in his face and arm movements, but he wasn't dancing.

Was anyone else surprised to hear Mia say at the end that she thought Kent was the dancer to beat?

Wow...what did everyone think of the judge's decision???? They had a good point about Billy that I had not thought of. He did get a nice week off to rest and recoup that the others did not.

I really do not think it is fair to Kent, Lauren and Adechicke. They made it through this week (as they all should have :thumbsup2), and the others basically got a pass. Not liking more and more things they are doing this season!

We thought it stunk and I hope they catch some flack for their decision.

I think this season has shown that they need to make one rule and stick with it for injuries, whatever it might be. I hate to be harsh, but I feel like, if you can't dance on show night, you should be out. End of story. I understand that Billy can't risk his future, but then he shouldn't be able to "pick and choose" when to dance on the show, either.

I wasn't real thrilled with the announcement of who was going to be on the tour, either. How can they do the best routines from the show if so few go?
Sigh.

I understand why Billy's decision gives him an advantage over the field. It's got precedence in Season 6 w/ Ashley Dilelo(sp?) -- although Nigel didn't characterize it as an accusation in his comments to her the way he set Billy up last night.

Especially in light of the results of the previous two weeks, I firmly believe Billy was right to be cautious. He's not only got this show on the line, he has his future in dance to consider. I really thought Nigel's comment was disrespectful and uncalled for in light of the fact that Billy can indeed dance and doesn't need to hide. Nigel could have acknowledged the fact that Billy's decision conceivably gave him an advantage in a much different way.

As for the decision? I feel the audience is being manipulated into being angry about what we see and hear. I think the feeling is drama may boost the ratings.

I missed the ending! What exactly did Nigel say to Billy?

He pointed out the fact that, unlike the previous two weeks, Billy was cleared by the doc to dance -- but chose not to. He then went on to say how it gave him an opportunity to rest, unlike the rest of the field.

Sure, rest is at a premium to those dancers right now. I really don't believe a dancer w/ Billy's skills would sit out a week willingly. Just the mental stress of what's happened the previous two weeks might have factored into his decision. Billy is not unaware that Alex's dance future may not be what it once was. A young dancer heading for the prime of his abilities and planning a dance career has to worry about a knee injury.

All I wanted to do was scream at my TV about the rest Jose' gets -- in his routines! Now that I found out he's 2 to 4 years older than Robert, Billy & Kent, I'm far less taken in by the "sweetie pie" image & feel more & more manipulated by the producers.

I think these judges need to just judge the dancing and stop judging the person. Make a rule about injuries and stick to it. The why's shouldnt matter. This is a dancing competition and the popularity of each dancer should be decided by the viewer not influenced by the judges personal opinions of each dancer (aside from the dancing, or course)things other than dancing.

I love this show but the personal opinions aren't fair. These dancers cannot defend themselves and are lately, too often subjected to onesided public comments about things other than dancing.

Im not a huge Billy fan but I think Nigles comments were unfair. Whether he was cleared by doctors or not isn't my business. Billys personal choice and the consequences of it, are his business. Nigels show comments, clearly showing his opinion on Billys decision, just have no place coming from a judge..But again, thats JMO :)

This is my first season watching the show, and I actually missed all the audition shows. I watched the first night when they all danced but there was no judging. I'm really enjoying it though, but can offer no opinions as to this new format or whatever.

So, those of you who are upset with this decision..... may I ask what you feel should've been done? I will say that I love Jose. He seems like a genuinely nice guy -- as do all the others. However, he is clearly not in the same league ability wise as the other dancers, and I do feel he will be the next to go. I do understand the judges' thought process and reasoning. Billy could've danced Wed according to the doctors, but he chose not to. Even Nigel said Wed night, that was fine. Billy knows his body and how he feels better than the doctors. Let's say though the judges sent Jose home and kept Billy. I think it is possible that we could've seen a lot more "injuries" in the future when dancers were asked to step way out of their comfort zone. If they are coming off a really good week, it may be a calculated risk to put yourself in the bottom 3, but allow yourself to be judged on your better work than to dance poorly, get in the bottom 3, and get judged with that poor performance fresh in the judges minds.

OTOH, the judges didn't want to send Billy home when he is clearly a better dancer than Jose. Sending him home would possible encourage dancers to dance injured and I don't think the producers want to be responsible for ruining someone's career either.

I think they were in a difficult position, and I don't know what the proper actions should be. I don't think it is unfair to the top 3 or Robert. They would've all been competing next week anyway and they still will be. So what would've been more fair? Sending home the dancer of lesser ability that actually did work, rehearse, and dance or sending home the better dancer that took the week off and rested?

So, what should the judges have done? I ask because I really don't know. I see both sides.

....simple. Jose should have gone...

This is so true. I really feel bad for the other dancers. Did anyone see Adechike's face when he realized that now TWO dancers go home next week. I don't think any of what went on last night was fair. :headache:

So...not this can or will happen, but I think Lauren, Kent, and Adechike should be safe next week, too. Then someone (or 2 someones) that should have gone home last night can go on and leave!

....yeah, yeah, whateva....I'm STILLED bummed that Alex isn't on the show...

I know alot of people don't like Jose, but I think Billy should have went home. Last season he had to leave due to an injury and was given another chase to try out straight in Vegas. Then this season he is hurt again and the doctor clears him to dance, but he doesn't. I think if someone is hurt and they don't dance it is an automatic exit to home.

....good point - I forgot about that...

But 2 dancers going home next week doesn't change anything. There are 6 dancers. At the end of next week, there will be 4. That would've happened whether someone was sent home this week or not.

And since we are all talking about what is "fair." How would it have been fair to send Jose home? I mean how is it fair that he lose against someone who didn't even compete.

I agree with all of you that Jose is the weakest dancer, and that is becoming more and more evident each week. I think he will be one of the dancers going home next week and one other one -- one who would be going home next week anyway if Jose had been sent home last night. I guess I just don't see what the big deal is.
