I e-mailed SOG asking this question and using specific names of food services and this is what I got back:

All of the dining here, you may charge to your room, as long as you leave a valid credit card on your reservation.

Thanks for checking on that. Sometimes I feel like I overload them with questions and did not want to bother them this time. I don't want to be referred to as the "oh no, not her again" lady :rotfl2:

I bolded the most important part of your comment.

Some of us like to pay off the room in advance. One year I thought I could pay off the room and throw a little more in the pot for a quick grab here and there (we almost sent in money to cover tickets). We ran into quite a snag and ended up getting a refund. We did not know we needed to use a credit card for charging privies. I know at Universal you can do a cash deposit and there is no problem. SOG is different.

Does anyone know if SOG takes the Military Star card as payment for rooms or tickets..I ask because Edelweiss in Germany uses the card

Hmm.......I know the AAFES at SOG definitely takes the STAR card. I know this subject has come up in the past about hotel and tickets and the answer was no. You might want to call the hotel for the official word.

Anyone have any info on this? Anyone been? Looks like it will be going on when we are there.

-Bob

For valuable information on Walt Disney World that includes all dining options and menus go to http://www.allearsnet.com/. It's fabulous! Happy printing! : )

To find our resort, you follow the signs to The Magic Kingdom.
When you approach the W - E - L - C - O - M - E toll plazas where you pay to park in The Magic Kingdom, enter under the "O" or "M" toll plazas, show them your Military I.D. and you can go through without paying. You will then go straight ahead to the Resort area. After going under the monorail tracks, get into your left lane. At the stop light you will turn left. You will go by the Kennels and the Ticket and Transportation Center for Walt Disney World, then by Disney's Polynesian Resort. Keep going straight until you come to the end. You turn right and then take the 1st left into our driveway. Show your Military I.D. to the guard at the gate. He/She will provide you with a free 1 hour parking pass, or tell you where to check in and where to park after. See you soon!

P.S. If you drink Pepsi products be sure to bring your own! Shades of Green & Disney only serve and sell Coca Cola products!
Thank you for your inquiry.

You are correct...I emailed them and that was there response..
It's funny because each DoD resort has it's own rules..Edelweiss in Germany takes the military star card for room and excursions. The one in Hawaii does't take it at all..If nothing else we can go to the AAFES and stock up on some stuff

They have an excellent supply and selection of just about anything you will need for a vacation. The items are at a pretty good price too....considering what other resorts charge. You should give Evergreens a try too. I love their onion rings.

I saw those onion rings on every visit, but never did order them. I will "force" myself to try them this time.:rotfl:

let me warn you......a foot of rings sound like a lot but not even close- we ordered several....now of course we also had a party of 8.....they were gone real quick and make sure to try all 3 sauces......drool drool drool

OH, all this Evergreens talk is making me excited:lovestruc

What are the sauces????????? And three:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Just made our reservations for Sept 3-9! WOOT :cool1: !

Basically comes to $160/night for a poolside room and breakfast and lunch for two adults (and a 2 yr old). The fall into autumn deal is not bad. If we do ADRs we do them for lunch so this scenario is primo. By dinnertime we're by the pool having cocktails and food from Evergreen's. So look for me by the pool for those dates, cocktail(s) in hand. I'M SO EXCITED  .

This will be our last trip before we PCS to Maryland. The gravy train Disney days of living in Florida and having seasonal passes will be over :sad1: .

I don't remember what the 3 sauces are- but I do remember they were all really good. The only thing I didn't like there was the pizza- it just had way too much cheese. Now that might have been because I ordered plain cheese- but the cheese was choking me- i couldn't even eat a slice. Now my kids LOVED it but I just couldn't stomach it!!

The ice cream place is wonderful as well!!

I agree about the pizza. I'm a cheesehead and couldn't even eat a whole slice. The cheese was about 2 inches thick. It was overwhelming.

For the onion rings, we had a barbecue sauce, ranch and sweet & sour. They're awesome! I ate about 6 feet of onion rings during our last trip.

yes those were the sauces. I'm just drooling thinking about them. It doesn't help that I'm dieting for our trip next year :lmao:

I have been visiting SOG since 1999. I have given the pizza a try each time I have stayed there. I just can't eat it and it has nothing to do with the cheese. It is the garlic. It is overwhelming. My son likes it though. The pizzas are really big and affordable. That is a plus.

We tried the chicken wings the last time we were there. If I remember, they were teriyaki or something like that. All I really remember is they were gigantic! We joked around with the kitchen staff and said they were baby turkey wings. I think the new pick up window is a fantastic! Evergreens is our chill out place when we vacation.

Just booked our reservations for Sept. 12 - 16, we are planning this quick trip before DH deploys for a year. I love SOG, we only stay here.

I just booked our room on line, it was showing not available but it let me book, but I want to call them tomorrow for the Fall Special, since I couldn't do it on line.

We also love Evergreens, sitting by the pool at night and eating!

I called about the "Fall into Autumn" Package. I just thinking we would just get a card and can get 15% off for the food. But you have to prepay for the meals. So for 4 nights it would have cost $576 for me, DH & DS.

I didn't do it, because we may not eat everynight at SOG. Plus the buffet breakfast isn't that expensive to begin with.

We may add an extra day - I really can't wait to go!

I really like the idea of the "fall into Autumn" sale- I asked them if they were going to do it next year as well and they said for right now it was this year only- however if it's popular they'll bring it back and to look for it in April or May

How does the evening EMHs process work? Does each member in the room have their own "key" to present to the people handing out wristbands - like at the traditional on site hotels?
Thanks,
Bob
