I think that would be a bad idea. People still love and book those ships. Way more discounts on the Wish and Dream right now.

Not sure about that. The Wonder’s Oceania itineraries are by far the most discounted. And most of the Alaska and SD itineraries are priced considerably less than Florida itineraries to begin with.

BTW, if anyone’s local and interested, the Adventure will be docked in San Pedro several times a in November. I assume Disney is offering dress rehearsal sailings to CM before it makes its way to revenue service in Singapore.

My point is going back through Disney history there is a history of big announcements that get scaled back. Think about the Disney Decade, the EPCOT redesign to name just a couple…

If Disney finds it does not need 13 ships in the fleet, it may decide to just not offer small ships, delay the retirement of the Magic/Wonder, build only 1 of the Meridian Ships, etc. who knows…

They have gone from a fleet of ships in 2020 which was 4 ships.

Their plans are by the end of the decade to have considerably more - all while undoubtedly hoping to maintain profit margin and occupancy rates (if not increase at least one and probably both of those metrics).

That is ambitious. I really do question who made this decision and why they are sticking to it… I also for the life of me cannot understand why they are tripling down on the Triton-class ships… Original contract was for 3 ships… I get they’re stuck with that but…

I believe every Wish 3 night sailing through October is being offered on a discounted rate except the one over Columbus Day. The response to that class of ships has been less than positive on the whole. Perhaps they will solve some of the most egregious problems with the Wish for Triton IV (only 1 adult hot tub which is over a water slide, lack of walking deck come top of mind for me)

Right now the 7 night sailings seem to be doing well - I think because we are still in the inaugural year of the Treasure. My personal theory also is the more highly themed the experience is, the tougher it will be to attract repeat cruisers. We are going on the Wish soon, and I am already dreading watching the Ant Man show again.

I think they later admitted to it being a consideration only.... there has been no order placed.

Japan's Cruise industry has been booming, it only opened back up in 2023. But currently they are only up to about 40% of the high back in 2019, so a lot of room for growth.

And the majority of those guest are International, so I can see OLC thinking Land & Sea packages. And like Disney and Port Canaveral, having a dedicated terminal would add to the experience. But I suspect that would require at least two ships. Heck OLC might be able to build the own terminal onsite and keep the bubble in place.
