***Official September 2020 Thread***

Our waitlist for our last day came through today. We had a Garden view but wanted a Boardwalk view. 80 days to go but I am having a really hard time getting excited. I keep waiting for a shoe to drop. I do hope Crystal Palace opens by then even if it is without characters or a buffet. It will lend a tiny bit of normalcy.

So now that DME will be requiring guests to retrieve their luggage from baggage claim and bring to bus and there will no longer be resort airline checkin at departure I am thinking of using a car service. i know the car service will cost around $135 + tip and might include a short grocery stop. Can anyone tell me if Uber or Lyft can pick up At MCO terminal and if so how much they charge to Disney resort?

They pick up at MCO. You can calculate your estimated cost on their website.

Have fun everyone. It was nice planning with you all but we made the painful decision to cancel. We went to our local zoo yesterday with masks and there’s just no way we can wear masks for 12 days in that Florida heat. I was optimistic that we could but we lasted an hour here. That’s both trips this year cancelled:sad: I have March and September booked for next year, but this stings bad.

I understand. Just FYI, we already have a September 2021 group started on these boards, and our Facebook group is combined 2020 and 2021.

Awww... well at least you have trips to look forward to next year. Those are good times to go.

Speaking of masks, I just saw where Disney released their mask policy, stating that gaiters or bandanas will not count as "face coverings." I have been wearing gaiters at work since they are more breathable, comfortable, and allow me to not have to keep up with it when I pull it up or down- it just works best for me personally. So now I guess I need to go source some masks for our Disney trip. DH was already saying we should get some of the disposable ones to bring as back ups each day anyway, but not sure I want to wear one the whole day. Their policy also states it needs to cover your nose, mouth, and chin, so I think fit would be important. Anyone have recommendations here for something they like? I just don't want to go on the threads about mask wearing with all the craziness over there... TIA!

I've bought two from https://livesore.net/ My wife (who hates masks) thought my American flag 2-layer one (which is sold out unfortunately) was so comfortable she bought one for herself. Prices are good and they're made right here in the good ol' USA in Las Vegas. Just a heads up, they don't have many "girly" ones. They also have several "Super Hero" ones if you're into that at all (I got an Iron Man mask LOL). The 4-layer ones are a little thicker than the 2-layer ones (as you might imagine), but not a lot. Hope that helps.

I wore my 2-layer one to the casino last weekend and it was quite comfortable. I'm going to wear the 4-layer one when I go to Six Flags over Texas this weekend. We'll see how that goes.

your post has me rethinking my decision to go yet again lol The mask and heat is really The only thing I’m worried about(and of course if the Covid numbers are still skyhigh not going down) but I keep telling myself with all the indoor rides that are air-conditioned and the relaxation stations and stopping to get snacks or bites to eat maybe we can do it

gosh darn it to be honest if we weren’t getting such a good deal Price on this vacation plus upgraded room with my daughter about to turn three we have five in our family really makes our vacation a lot more expensive starting end of September This decision would probably be even easier

I'm going to play Devil's advocate here for a second.

For one, are you flying or driving? If the mask/heat concern and Covid numbers have you on the fence, flying would be the deal breaker for me. No way am I flying in this mess. As I mentioned above, I'm going to Six Flags over Texas this coming weekend (another area where the numbers are up). Yes, I'm a little concerned with the heat/mask combo and the numbers, but I'm driving.

Secondly, yes, the indoor rides and attractions are air conditioned. You still have to get to them. People routinely walk anywhere from 9 to 15 miles PER DAY at WDW. In the Florida heat? With a mask on? For multiple days? That's a hard pass for me. That doesn't spell fun to me.

Lastly, yes, you're getting a "deal". The fun extras have been eliminated. The park hours have been cut way back. Perks have been cut back. Now how much of a "deal" is it?

It just wasn't worth it to me. I moved mine to next September. To those going this September, I hope y'all have a great time! I really do. It just wasn't right for me.

driving we are in Georgia

we go during really hot months anyways so the heat really isn’t a deterrent, it’s the unknown with the masks...... I haven’t heard too many people though saying don’t go don’t go on all these live feeds these last couple of days because of the mask, I plan on just to keep listening and watching the next month or so

well if the ride times stay as low as they are right now might be even a better deal(Hence why shorten hours wouldn’t matter too much) ......... We go almost every year or two or at least we try (I kept having babies lol and pregnant and Disney and baby and Disney just not for me lol) So no Character meet, fireworks and shows not a deal breaker, at least not with the great deal we are getting

we are also planning a trip for November 2021 hopefully

my husband kind of wants to go just to look back and say we were able to go during all the craziness that was 2020 dunno about that lol

Well, there you go. Sounds like you've made your decision to me. LOL

Yes lol I think so. Playing devil advocate helped me though ;)
just got to keep watching the videos listening to others experience
we picked Labor Day week which apparently is one of the slowest weeks of the year anyways so I don’t even know if that makes a difference

We are still going. I was very very sick this past week. It started on July 3. very high fever (101-102), nausea, vomiting diarrhea (extreme), I did not eat anything for FIVE DAYS (lost 13 pounds).
I called the clinic on Saturday July 4 and all they wanted to do was me take a Covid-19 test, so we set up an appointment for me Sunday July 5@ 11am. Took the test (it wasn't as bad as I though it would be but I was still very very sick and freezing from the fever.) Sunday evening, I did the Blue Cross video because my body was hurting so bad and my fever was still high and diarrhea (with no food mind you-but I tried to drink as much water as I could). The doctor on the video chat just wanted to prescribe Zofran. Guys I was so sick. My guts felt like they were being wrung like a towel.
Beginning July 9, my fever broke. I started drinking 1/2 cup of broth. First day, couldn't keep it down. But the next 2 days were fine and increased to 1 cup of broth once a day. ZERO appetite.

Today, I have eaten a banana. I will also still eat the broth at lunch. I do not have an appetite (no hunger feeling). I have been watching Food.com to help stimulate it. I love food but just no appetite.

I kept as much of a record I could while being sick in case the test results come back as negative for Covid-19. I have no idea what I had. I just know I have had four children with no pain meds and there is only one other time I have been in as much paid as I was this last week and that was when I had kidney stones.

So back to planning. I hope to get my strength back (I get very winded just walking in the house) soon and get back to the planning. Since there are so many changes, I want to get it right. Flights, luggage, transportation, etc.

See you in September :)

edit: oh yeah, tested on 7.5.2020 and today is 7.12.2020 and still no test results. I have called them everyday starting 7.10.2020. They told me today that results are taking 9 days.

btw. It was a drive up test. When we arrived there were two vehicles ahead of us with one person being tested in each one. Someone came out to my side of the vehicle ad swabbed in side my nasal cavities on both sides of my nose. Told me 3-5 days (not accurate obviously) and we drove off. There was a car behind us.

Just in case it is Covid you have, just be aware that recovery takes a long time for some people, including me. I got infected in March, and today was the first day I've done a full shift at work. I got through it okay, but I'm too tired to do anything else. If you experience any post viral fatigue, just take it easy, listen to your body and rest a lot.

Well I hope that I will be making meal ressies next Saturday. 60 days out.

Fly or drive...haha...we are in the Pacific Northwest.

Air travel requires spending time in security lines and airport terminals, which can bring you in close contact with other people and frequently touched surfaces. We'll just avoid that. We don't go to the airport to hang out.

Most viruses and other germs do not spread easily on flights because of how air circulates and is filtered on airplane.
