Official Poly construction update thread **updated video page 103(2/17/15)**

I think you misread my post. I was telling one person that the Poly IPO's were given out false statements. And I did pay for my upgrade (by $200) but not full price as they said I was CONCERN by the construction. I have every right to be concern it is my hard earn money even for one night. I just don't like being told one thing by people who are suppose to help you plan your stay and then told another thing. And this is my view only. I didn't get the upgrade for free nor because I complain. The CM understood that I was paying a lot to stay Club level & he wanted to make it special thus the discount & upgrade us to theme park view.

Ah no worries - sorry that we misunderstood each other's posts. Tone doesn't come across well when it is typed out! Sometimes I really hate posting because of these types of miscommunications but I trudge on and hope that my humor comes across as fun in the future. I can't stand the he said/she said posts that go on and on so please know I was not meaning anything negative.

If it makes or breaks your time at the Poly, then book elsewhere. If you are willing to take a chance, then check in and if it is really bad, they will work with you to make it right.

I've stayed at the Poly many times during construction (although probably not as much as is coming this next year), and I have never been bothered by it. They even refurbed the floor above us one year and only once did it bother us because the noise was during the kids naptime and I called and they stopped it until they were up. Other than that, I've never heard the construction nor has the construction caused a bad view (even with the roof torn up and covered in plastic) nor has it interfered with our enjoyment of the resort. BUT I would reconsider if they had the GCH or the main pool closed or under serious construction. But having them work on Tahiti is not a big thing - in my opinion.

Good luck with your choice!

Thank you. I have a sense of humor but I guess since in quite of pain & nothing I take work made me cranky when I read your reply :) We are still going to stay for one night and hope for the best. It would be different if it was for 10 nights. We are doing a split stay ..one night at the Poly, one night at the CR (theme park view , club level) and the rest of the time at our favorite resort the BWI Club level so it not like we are just staying at Disney just one day lol. To drive 14 hours to stay one night would be stupid lol.

We should be in Hawaii building since it is club level. So I was told and last time we stayed at club level there it was the Hawaii building.

I think it best to go now before the construction get in full gear :)

Just read on tikimans FB page that someone staying cl in sept got a verbal confirmation from ipo that Hawaii tpv will be affected by construction sometime during September but did not have an exact date.

It all depends on how you define "affected". Assuming they do start construction on the pilings off Sunset Point and the Tahiti beach in Sep such construction would be visible from the Hawaii longhouse if you were on the lagoon side and looked over to the right but it sure would not obstruct your view of the lagoon or the MK. Might obstruct your view of the ferry when it is docked at the TTC if that is a problem for you. If seeing any construction equipment over there would "ruin" your LV or TPV then just save yourself some money and book GV. ;)

Could possibly slightly interfere with your view of the CR too. Noise from construction on the pilings would only be a problem if you sleep in or take afternoon naps during the week.

Thank you I decided to keep it as I have a friend that came back & said not to worry about it that it was okay. She did say they will be doing more work but later in the month. Hope you have a great trip might see you in the lounge maybe :)

Glad you were able to make a decision that you are happy with, whew, this thread seems to get a little heated now and then:rolleyes1 Have a great time!! Be sure to report back what, if anything you see while there!

So true, I thought that was pretty vauge myself"affected", did they mean the view itself would be altered, or just that location have noise? Who knows? Just passing on some info for people to do with what they want.

Listen no one at the resort is really told what is going on they try their best to appease & calm the guests down but they don't know exactly what's coming & that's not their fault they are not told for these reasons, the mass hysteria it causes.

The. Construction is not near the boat do k it is on the other side of Hawaii.. Sunset pointe, Tahiti, raps nui & parts of Tokelau will see the construction & some of the TPV in Hawaii building. I would not cancel over this, the rest of the resort won't be affected & Hawaii building will go on with their amazing service as aways. Especially for one night you won't be affected & especially if you got a big discount.

We check in on 8th & check out 15ty staying Hawaii as well & we aren't worried, were at first but happy to be going back to the resort we call home before the big changes!

I feel that the upset or "mass hysteria" comes from Disney not just coming out with a reasonable time schedule for people to make an informed choice. What bothers one family might not bother another, but for the price people spend on a wdw trip, I feel it is only fair to be as honest as possible in a timely manner. If they did that, it would cut down on so much speculation and uncertainty, that is what seems to get people the most upset.:sad2:

I totally agree. I'm excited about the changes but don't think I can stay at the poly when they have serious construction on the pool or GCH. Thank goodness for the Disboards and the inside info we get!

CL is Hawaii and you have an unobstructed view of the lagoon (or East pool) and any construction on Tahiti shouldn't interfere with that. But I, along with y'all, are anxiously awaiting any confirmed construction news.

Ok, split stay for 10 days? Adopt me!! I love BWI. We stayed in the villas last year and it was awesome!

I think Tahiti construction would be a non factor for us as well, the big thing for my family is the GCH and the pool area. So hard to know what to do for next summer, lol such "first world" problems as a friend of mine would say. It's an annoying situation, but we have to keep it in perspective right?:goodvibes

Actually the area that they will be working around Sunset Pointe will be directly in front of about half the lagoon side rooms of Hawaii so looking straight to the castle from those rooms you will be looking right through the proposed area for those bungalows, not just off to the right. I am sure they will change the category of those rooms and not charge theme park view prices so if you are booked in a TPV room you will have to be in one that is not affected by the construction.

See how WB1 area is right in front of Hawaii looking directly towards the castle.

We are scheduled to finish our last leg of the trip at the Polynesian October 4-7th. Normally we stay in the TPV rooms, but this year we opted for garden view to offset the cost of purchasing annual passes.

The Polynesian has undergone some serious transformation over the years so it will be interesting to see where the walls and refurb begin. I will definitely post pictures and keep y'all updated.

Thanks for the visual. Helps to get a good understanding of what we are thinking about!

Holy MACKEREL!!

Are they possibly going to be working on all those areas at the same time!?!?

:crazy2:

Not only will work be out in the water in the designated areas but here is a map from the permits filed showing the affected area on land. You can see why Disney informed travel agents that longhouses, Hawaii, Tokelau, Tahiti and Rapa Nui would be affected.

Um, so can somebody recommend a GV longhouse for us in November? We're traveling with Grandparents and 3 little girls. Would like to be near GCH. We'll also want to use the pool (if it's open) and the beach to watch fireworks.

of course, how could they not inform TA at this point. I have to say deep down I am still in denial, :(

If booking with Disney directly all they say is near the boat ramp. I even asked & was told no worries you will be fine. I talked to the IPO this morning and was told since I have a theme park view I would be affected but they will do their best to place in a room with a good view.

They also told me a lot of people been canceling who know who is tell the truth. Not sure if they even know for sure lol. I am still going and hope for the best. I think & just a thought since it the first part of September I will be somewhat okay.

Me too.:confused3

It will be intereting to see what happens with respect to the pool and GCH (my guess is that if they start on the pool on say, Monday, January 6, they won't make any official announcement until sometime around Thansgiving - drives me nuts that they wait so long:sad2:).

I can understand doing this if they haven't made up their mind for sure (and we all know that they're famous for changing their mind or, at least, delaying projects) but I have to think that if they're going to do something as big as remove the Volcano, they'll have finalized those plans way more than 5-6 weeks in advance.

I have been told by a few sources that walls will be up sometime around September 7 - 9. I am very interested to see what happens around that time.
