Official Poly construction update thread **updated video page 103(2/17/15)**

Sadly even a lot of the CMs AT the Poly don't even know what going on

I agree.

So with that said... SHOULD we try to change our reservations? I don't even know if we could, at this late date for the length of stay we want. And I definitely wanted to be on a monorail resort because of having an infant... :worried:

From what it looks like now, nothing will be closed during your stay (pool, GCH, etc). If seeing construction walls will bother you, then you might want to look into changing resorts. If it were me, I wouldn't let that deter me from staying somewhere I wanted to stay, but that's just me. Only you can decide what will/will not bother. If you can get past the construction walls, I'd stick with the Poly because it truly is an amazing resort.

I honestly was ready to change after reading Tikimans update yesterday I was upset and a little ticked off that I had repeatedly been asking Poly IPO, Disney recreation even spoke to a manager AT the Poly but I understand now they had no control or probably any knowledge
As long as GCH and pools, monorail and beach in front of Hawaii are not affected DH and I talked it over and we will be fine, besides we arrive 9/8 staying until 9/15 when everything is just beginning so it shouldnt be so bad at that time and atleast we get one last stay in before it changes..

As petty as it is I do hope that the waterfall in GCH will be running, Ill miss watching sunrise over the castle from sunset point but maybe we can just go sit in the CL and watch it or on the beach..

Has Tikiman's website been updated yet?? I am wondering if he has any idea when construction will be completed?! :confused3

This not knowing what is happening with construction for next year is making it really difficult to plan....for our first stay this year they were supposed to be closing the volcano pool the day after we arrived....this would have been a deal breaker for us for sure, well about a month before we left Tikiman updated his page and said it was delayed again....thankfully I trusted him and kept our vacation there and it was AMAZING!!!!! I am hoping again to follow his updates and have the hope of staying there again next year!! (fingers crossed), if not we won't be back until 2017 at least (that seems so weird to write! )

Just because they won't say doesn't mean they don't know. Jussayin... :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

I dont think that is the case, especially with the IPO when we pay $5k for CL. They have there ways of answering without answering if they cant or wont say.. As a Disney earmarked TA I can guarantee you that, ive learned to tell the difference..

I hope that everyone going in september will have a great time, perhaps in the later months we will have a better idea of what will be going on when and be able to make a decision. I am very torn for next August, we need 2 rooms my parents travel with us. I think I have time to hold out and see whats what for next summer.:scratchin

I am hoping to get some major information on the how many longhouses are completely out of service before the current 30% discount is over. I moved from the Beach Club to a Poly Theme Park View for the first week of December when the latest discounts came out. Now I am wondering if I will have my Theme park view because if you take Tahiti out of the picture then the number of Theme Park rooms drop dramatically. I really don't want to move from the Poly.

So hard to say....either way have a great trip!! Parks are great that time of year!

Oh, ok. I was thinking maybe I would see you on the beach that night. We're not staying CL. We're staying GV, requested Fiji.

Subscribing to this thread! We have LV CL reservations in October, and as it's the first time we've stayed LV and it is costing plenty of $$$ for the view, I'm hoping there won't be construction interfering with it! If that were the case I would much rather just have a GV room and save considerable money, but that isn't available now with the 30% off discount. I won't mind some construction walls, but I would choose another resort if the pool and GCH, in addition to other areas, went down as some are guessing they will next year. We'll see, I'm hopefull that not too much will have got going by October.

Does anyone remember how long the previous rehab of the volcano pool took last time? We are scheduled to be at the Poly CL March 2-9th & are ( like everyone else) trying to guesstimate the new rehab's impact on our vacation?!? Thanks. Have a magical day, my friends!

Just chatted with DVC & asked about a possible Poly DVC - said no plans yet. So.....what the means is no word of a Poly DVC has been given to the reps yet; not necessarily mean there are no plans. Of course, as usual, I'm sure they won't start anywhere else until they sell most of GF DVC.

Wonder how they plan to handle the extra people on the monorail - it already gets crowded, especially by the time it gets to GF - usually lots of people waiting. We've had times when there wasn't enough room for everyone.

Answer I got from DVC was they cannot confirm or deny..

Don't know how long the previous rehab of the volcano pool took, but if the rehab of the GF courtyard pool is any indicator, it could be at least 6 months.

By way of reference, Disney started on that rehab about exactly one year ago and didn't finish until early April of this year.

Also somewhat discouraging is the fact that they advertised that the work would be finished by December of last year (so it took more than three months more than they projected) and also didn't announce the pool closure until about 6 weeks before they started work.

So if the Poly pool refurb starts on, say Jan. 2, Disney may not announce it until around Thanksgiving. And the work may continue until well into next summer.

This is why it's not reasonable to expect much official info re timetables and such. Plans are subject to change until they are actually executed, and things do not always go according to schedule. Imagine they announce today that the volcano pool will close on Jan. 2, but there are delays and it doesn't happen until the end of the month. Guests who avoided the Poly in Jan. based on that info would be irate, and--more to the point, perhaps--occupancy levels for Jan. might be far below what they otherwise would have been.

I am leaving for the beautiful Poly in 16 hours! I know that work is not scheduled to begin during my stay, but I will definitely keep my eyes peeled and my ears open! If I see any signs of things changing I'll be sure to report them here. I am going to try a live report so come along!
