Official Poly construction update thread **updated video page 103(2/17/15)**

Ugh we are not sure what to do, we arrive Sept. 16-22. We are staying CL garden view. Tikiman has great info and looks like walls will go up right before our stay. We were at GF last May during construction, but I had a heads up on what to expect. This time we won't know until its to late. I called to see if I had options to switch. We want to be on monorail so BLT & CR are booked GF has outer bldg GV for $400 less, or outer bldg. lagoon view for about same price as Poly, or Main bldg RPC for $1000 more. We really wanted to try Poly but I just hate paying these prices, if there is construction walls and loud heavy equipment. STRESSED

Why not request a building on the other side of the property? Our favorite building is Fiji. Great location . Easy walk to GCH

We are heading out to the Poly in about 6 hours, I can't believe it! Anyways, I wanted to say that I'd keep a look out for any signs of construction walls going up or anything like that and post as soon as I see any evidence of anything construction wise. I know it sucks not having definitive answers about construction until its to late, so if I can pass on any info I will.

Think of it this way, that's a good issue to be stressed about, most people cannot even consider staying at a monorail resort. If you're worried about construction, which I highly doubt will be much of anything when you go, why not stay in a different area of the resort? Is CL a must? It's not the entire resort that will be under construction.

I agree!!! Fiji is a great building, that's the one we always stay in.

It can be frustrating when you put so much into planning your wdw trip and to have a wrench thrown in at the last minute.

Just read on tikimans FB page that someone staying cl in sept got a verbal confirmation from ipo that Hawaii tpv will be affected by construction sometime during September but did not have an exact date. I guess if this would be a concern for you you could now contact ipo and see what you could work out ?

Thank you BabyFu18 for looking out for construction, I really appreciate it !

I did try to switch to a different room, but nothing is available at the Poly with my pin code. I hate to have to pay same price for room without CL amenities. I know it's silly to stress about this, but like someone else said I have put a year of planning into this vacation and hate for a wrench to be thrown in it. After thinking on it last night, I think even with construction walls up we would still like to try the Poly. We stayed GF (during construction) last year and really wanted to try Poly. I have decided we won't know what we are missing since the is our first stay.

So I take it you have a TPV booked? Well this is what I would do. if when you get to your room and the construction hinders your view I would ask for the cost difference between LV and TPV back per night b/c you paid for TPV. I really don't believe that is too much to ask, especially since you actually PAID for the view and its not your fault Disney couldn't get it together to let you know and give you a chance to change anything.

I do think your stay at the Poly will be amazing regardless of the view, we check in 9/8 day after the walls are suppose to go up, but we have a GV booked so I don't think it will affect us in anyway. I feel like as long as GCH and pools aren't affected we will be great!

You are not silly at all! I think we all here understand how much planning goes into these trips. I think you have a great plan, just roll with it and you will be fine, don't let it upset you. I agree with blue jasmine, I have had that happen to us where we booked TPV but got lagoon view, I was refunded the difference. The poly is great and your are lucky to see it in it's current form prior to the changes. I have a question for you, how did your children like the GF? Because of all this we might move there next summer. I think it looks nice, not sure my kids would like it too much? My ds has only ever stayed at the Poly, to him that IS wdw, lol

Funny I was told by them not to worry no construction for my stay September 11TH Staying Theme Park View & Club Level. I am getting mixed answers from everyone. Two of them said I wouldn't be affected as the construction is near the boat ramp not near to Hawaii. The two said expect noise. So who to believe. I feel since I am only staying one night I should be okay. Shouldn't be in room much during the day unless I need to relax due to health issues. I am concern about the night time but I doubt (I could be wrong since one year we stayed at GF & they worked during the night and it did bother us. And yes we asked to move but no room anywhere on property due to conventions)

So what do you all suggest? I really like how they redid the rooms & we got a great discount. Was booking a garden view club level but the GR upgrade me to theme park view since I was concern about the noise etc. I can cancel & get back my money but I want to stay as we don't know what our future look like right now. Husband has to go back overseas and I might have to have more tests done. And my doctor make you do other things before she orders tests. Please don't say change as it the medical insurance we have & we like our doctors. It just the insurance that make them do things before they order test. FYI it is a HMO. So our hands are tied. That & the fact I hate doctors lol but I do go but don't like it when she tells me I have to have a test & go 50 miles to get it done. If I want it done local I have to pay for all of it & that is way too much. Ty

You got an upgrade for complaining about possible construction that may not even affect you? And you are asking if you should cancel? Yes, cancel. I'll take the upgrade. I've only stayed GV and many times during construction and always have the best stay. Oh wait, it's horrible...cancel and let me know who gave you the upgrade ;)

Does anyone know if the Poly construction is going to interfere with monorail operating hours??

We have a trip booked for March '14 and the last time we went in March '12 the GF construction dramatically cut down on the monorail hours... It was annoying. We LOVE LOVE LOVE the Poly and have never stayed anywhere else but with a special needs child the monorail is a huge perk

Listen no one at the resort is really told what is going on they try their best to appease & calm the guests down but they don't know exactly what's coming & that's not their fault they are not told for these reasons, the mass hysteria it causes.

The. Construction is not near the boat do k it is on the other side of Hawaii.. Sunset pointe, Tahiti, raps nui & parts of Tokelau will see the construction & some of the TPV in Hawaii building. I would not cancel over this, the rest of the resort won't be affected & Hawaii building will go on with their amazing service as aways. Especially for one night you won't be affected & especially if you got a big discount.

We check in on 8th & check out 15ty staying Hawaii as well & we aren't worried, were at first but happy to be going back to the resort we call home before the big changes!

I think you misread my post. I was telling one person that the Poly IPO's were given out false statements. And I did pay for my upgrade (by $200) but not full price as they said I was CONCERN by the construction. I have every right to be concern it is my hard earn money even for one night. I just don't like being told one thing by people who are suppose to help you plan your stay and then told another thing. And this is my view only. I didn't get the upgrade for free nor because I complain. The CM understood that I was paying a lot to stay Club level & he wanted to make it special thus the discount & upgrade us to theme park view.

Thank you I decided to keep it as I have a friend that came back & said not to worry about it that it was okay. She did say they will be doing more work but later in the month. Hope you have a great trip might see you in the lounge maybe :)
