***Official Planning Thread -DECEMBER 2024 - Welcome all!***

I need a packable rain jacket, a jacket for if it's cool but not cold to wear with jeans, my cold weather jacket (in fairness will wear this on plane) and a cropped jean jacket to wear with dresses!
We needed all three of these jackets when we were there the same week last December. We had two days of really cold weather and two days of nice weather. I was really glad that I had worn the cold weather jacket on the plane. I needed it during that trip. :)

I have to say, I'm a little surprised at how small our list of people going in December is! Maybe more people just use social media to plan. Or maybe just not a lot of people going. 🤔

It’s likely they’re trying to avoid the crazy Dec crowds (us)! Maybe people are holding off their WDW+US trips until Epic world opens (we are holding off going to US). When I looked at resorts (thought of changing trip) there were fewer options last week of Nov vs Dec at WDW.

Most discounts end right before 12/25. But knowing Disney if there are fewer people they’ll probably change the low crowd days to good to go days and APs will fill in any gaps. So I would count on evenings at MK and HS being intense despite low hotel occupancy (if that happens). Flight cancellations are a real concern for people as well so they might be trying to avoid Christmas week.

I wish they would have added a day of MVMCP (12/21 or 12/22) or just dropped some after hours events. There is nothing spectacular until 12/30 (NYEE).

Someone just posted on the Mears thread that they were 15 mins early than the scheduled pickup time and were still marked as a no show at AKL. Fortunately another Mears driver was able to pick him up. Something to watch I suppose.

I remember we could track our driver and a couple of years ago (post pandemic) we were the last stop (AOA) so we weren’t picked up for 40 mins post scheduled pickup but had the shortest ride to the airport. On another AOA trip we were rushing to be at the pickup spot (Epcot marathon crowds/Skyliner delay) and the bus was already loaded and ready to go by the pickup time, so do plan to be there early. Fortunately we quickly boarded and half of our party had reached on time and gotten luggage from bell services (usually they will not stop even for an extra few minutes).

Weren't all the announcements this weekend exciting? I know, I know, it may not happen exactly the way they said but for now I'm choosing to be excited!

I told my husband we better stay in tip-top shape. 😂 We are 50 (although luckily with genetics, a very "young" 50) and I said we may be 56/57 by the time all this is done! But looking at my older siblings, they are all still doing roller coasters into their 60s and my dad at 85 could still easily handle a full park day/vacation, so fingers crossed. :D

Also, I'm happy we are getting in this trip before all the construction starts, especially at MK and DHS. I think AK won't be as noticeable unless you are specifically going by Dinoland.

Super excited!! Except they better not touch Dinosaur till I get the chance to ride it one last time! Lol

I'm curious if all, if any, of you have decided which holiday party they are doing and why? I cannot decide at all between Jollywood Nights and MVMCP. I've gone back and forth many times since tickets went on sale. I don't want to spend that much on both if I can help it. I didn't do JN last year since we were there Christmas week and all the parties were over. I've done MVMCP at least 3x. I only do the parties for the festivities not the attractions except for maybe Peoplemover at MK. There are pros and cons to either one for me. I was considering JN for 12/11 but that is DH's b'day and he won't do it so it would be a solo visit and since it's a bit of a milestone (70) I would like to do something with him that night. The only other option is Saturday and don't know how crowds will be. I do like the idea of it being mostly an adults-oriented event though and of course, the DVC discount.

OTOH, the benefit to MVMCP is that we are staying at GF on 12/12 so that would be the best night and since it will be solo I can get over there on my own fairly quickly. Other than that, I'm really only interested in Main Street and the parade so I'm not sure it's worth the higher price.

We are 4 adults going and we decided on both! We already know we love the Halloween party, so Christmas is a no-brainer. And Jollywood Nights (after the first night of last year) seemed like a really good time! I'll say that one we will focus more on rides and specialty food than shows, also just taking a ton of pictures of a low crowd, nighttime Holiday decorated DHS!
We are doing Jollywood on a Saturday night, so I'm assuming more locals, but also assuming they will concentrate more on shows/character meets.

Excited for both.
