I've heard from a very good source that it will close March 1st for wiring work, etc. and that it will reopen for a few weeks in early to mid April to handle the peak crowds. Then around May 1st, it will go back down for the audioanimatronic work and reopen around on July 1st with an official reopening on July 7th.
I'd assume for those enjoying the attraction in April, no visible changes will be in place.
Hate to see a major ride closed during a summer month, especially the month I will be there and especially my favorite ride in the whole World!!!!!!!!!! I would reschedule if I could but circumstances have us locked in this time around. Hmmmmm... man I hate that it is going to be closed that long and into the summer. Oh well.
great.. we fall right in the middle of it s'ok though. closures happen. i have gotten used to it over the years. I see it as a trade-off, POC for Expedition Everest (i hope that one stays open).
I'm sorry but I still can't believe this until it's posted on the WDW website as of now it's still not on there... I'm going in May so I'm hoping this is just a rumor...

Woo Hoo! We get there July 2nd, I had seen the closure on WDW site without firm dates and thought we'd miss POTC this time. Thank You OP for making my day!
If I find out any more info, as far as re-opening during Spring Break, I will be sure to post the information. As this information was just released this morning I think you should see something on the WDW website very soon. Pirates is my favorite Disney attraction, so I cannot wait to see the results of the refurbishment!
