We will be at Disney October 22nd-28th staying at Coronado Springs. It will just be me with DD & DS, Dh couldn't get off work. This will be our first trip in October, and my first time taking them on vacation alone, hopefully I survive.

I am in the same boat, although dh is going hunting instead of working. But I have a feeling he may work instead. Welcome to the thread. :-)

I'm posting this from my android phone, so this post will be short till I get home. Received good & not so good but not quite bad news either. The short version is that I get to go back to work and my vacation is not going to change!!! As soon as I get home, I will post the whole story. Thanks for all the prayers & well wishes.

9/29 - 10/3, participating in the Wine & Dine 1/2 Marathon. Hoping to stay at Wilderness Lodge, but waiting for AP Fall Rates to be released!

Ok.. more questions for you all:)

At Hollywood Studios do you prefer Sci Fi, 50's Prime, or Mama Melrose?

Now, we have AK on 10/24 for early EMH @ 8am.. will probably try and eat something at the resort. Then head off to park.
Lunch: Yak and Yeti?
snack: jalapeno pretzel
dinner:???? We want to do the Wishes Dessert party that night. Would it be best to do a quick CS so we are not to full for the yummy desserts?

Sorry, I ask so many questions. I have no one else to give me feedback:sad2:
I haven't done MM yet, so can't comment there. But here is what i think on the other two. We love both Sci Fi and 50s. I like 50s for the fun atmosphere and the food is very good and portions very large- in fact you can share. I love the meatloaf and pot roast and the fried chicken is huge! the s'mores are a fave of mine! WE usually get a pretty good server that is 'into' the act. But last time our server took forever! we were literally there 2.5 hours (we had a party of 14 and 5 rooms to sort out the dining plan on). it was painful. But we still enjoy it. Sci Fi is good for the atmosphere- we are big sci fi nerds and love the whole old school drive in theme and movie clips. The food is just so-so to me. nothing outstanding. The desserts are good. We go more for the atmosphere. We aren't doing either one this trip, since we've done them so much in the last few trips.

yes, i would vote on doing a QS so you aren't too full for the dessert party! i love the jalapeno pretzel too- that is a must for me at AK as well. They used to have them in tomorrowland, but don't anymore- boo!!

Thanks all for the tips.

Exw, thanks on the monorail/MK response. I was debating about 7:30 for 1900 park but nervous that DD will have had enough if we get seated late. Need to think about that one and make a decsion by the time I make my ADR's.
no problem! yes, if you think your DD won't last that long, then definitely go earlier. ;)

FuzzyJelly- welcome! have a great anniv trip! Looks like you have some grat things and meals planned!

I'm off to the doctor to get my diagnosis from all the genetic testing done last week. Say a prayer for me. Will post later.
thinking good thoughts for you!:hug::hug:

I created a group for us on Facebook. If you are intersted in joining our FB group page- just friend me on FB and be sure you send me a note (post here, send me a PM, or include it on your friend request)- and i'll add you. it is a 'closed group'. it's for anyone going in October- just another place to chat, post updates, ask questions etc. Plus, it will be fun for those of you on FB that post up pics while you are at WDW- fun for the rest of us to see and hear about your trip when the time comes.

you can friend me on FB-- I am "Michelle Easler Peters". Be sure and note that you are from the DIS Oct 2011 group on your friend request, so i can add you to the group as well. Thanks!!!

Just wanted to share something I came across this am on the DIS boards that I found of interest since I had never heard about it before. I wish I had children traveling with me so we could do this it sounds like a lot of fun.
The Hiding of paint brushes on TSI in MK ....the reward fast passes for the entire family for BTMR or Splash Mt.
We tried this last September, from tips here on the DIS.....my 3 boys were SOOOO excited about this lil' scavenger hunt!
But unfortunately the 20 other people on the raft with us were doing the same thing. There was basically a mad dash, once we docked, of people racing to find the paintbrushes. We were a party of 8, and not one of us found anything. At least 2 other people did though.
Dejected, we took the raft back and DMIL struck up a friendly conversation with a CM who had the same name as her. During the conversation she mentioned that we did not find a paintbrush. Upon disembarking the raft, that CM slipped us fastpasses!
Our very own Magical Moment! pixiedust:

It seems all the crowd calendars for my week (Oct 15-22) are all 1-2s except for a few of the Saturdays- so i am hoping for light crowds, but will be prepared for whatever!:wizard::laughing:
Yeah, I saw that for our week too! Whats up with all the Saturdays in October, especially at EPCOT?:confused3

We had a lot of fun at 50's Prime Time (and good food too), but this year we want to try Sci-Fi.:thumbsup2

which class are you doing?? We are doing Oct 17th:thumbsup2
Oct 11 going to Captivating Memories with my 17 yr old and Dh is taking the two younger ones to Ocean Discoveries (same day both in epcot at 8:30am)
We'll be at the Wild By Nature class on Oct 25th.
Gotta love the YES Programs!:woohoo:

October 21-30 AKV
Doing the YES Wild by Design class October 25th
Hi Tricia!:wave2:

Went to the doctor this morning, during check in the nurse did my vital signs - could not get a blood pressure, weighed me - lost 2 pounds :), put in a room and waited and waited. Finally MD comes in, sits at the computer in the room and looks through the computer at my records and again we waited and waited and waited. At this point, I have been worrying so much, my stomach felt a little upset. I am thinking to myself "if he doesn't hurry up I am going to explode". The MD finally calls the nurse in and ask about another test that he ordered but had not resulted. The nurse comes back in and says it was never done, ordered but not done by the lab. The MD tells us that 2 of the genetic tests came back negative! :cool1::banana: That is a relief, but they have to redraw blood for the test never done by the lab. :sad2: I asked the MD if I can go back to work without limitations and he said yes!:cool1: So I didn't neccessarily receive bad news. Just have to wait for the other test to result. I am still under the watchful eye of my hematologist, I don't care as long as I can get my life back in order. I think I deserve this vacation now! I don't have to change anything to it, I was sweating it for awhile. I thought that I would have to change resorts to a moderate or value (which there is nothing wrong with them) but I had my heart on staying at a deluxe once in my life. Now I don't have to. Gonna help ds with his homework, thanks again for the prayers and well wishes. I appreciate them. It's hard for me to be the patient and not the nurse.

Looks like we will give 5o's Prime Time a try. I have never had the jalapeno pretzel but several disers have raved about it. They also said the cream cheese pretzel is very good at the MK. Now I have to pick what CS before the dessert party. :cutie:

Shannon.. the best part is that you just have to be a bit more patient. I think we all hate waiting for test results. Fortunately, all is well.. we will keep you in our thoughts:hug:

Catira-50s PT is awesome! It's a must do on our list. The kids love that we get "in trouble". I had to stand in the corner last time! Our trip is a surprise until the day we leave, the kids will be like this  when we tell them Disney, and like this :hyper: when we tell them 50s PT.

I was just reading the first few pages and saw the introduction idea.

Me: Tricia
DH: Brent(Actually DBF, but easier to just put DH, maybe a Disney proposal? a girl can dream right?? LOL :lmao:)
DDs: 12-Mariah, 11-Alyssa, 7-Ellie

Where we are staying: AKV-Jambo in a DVC 2 bedroom rental

Your kiddos will love the surprise :yay::woohoo::dance3: We surprised my son for his 11th birthday with a trip to disney. DH had a business trip to Orlando and since we already had the resort reserved I took advantage to do a mini trip with my son. He had no idea we were going, he thought we were just dropping off his Dad at the airport. Then when they started boarding, he gets up and says "bye Dad, have a good trip". That's when I gave him his ticket and it was priceless:love: He had not paid attention to the boarding announcement, so he had no idea where we were going. Of course, DH quickly spilled the beans. He kept thanking us for such a wonderful surprise:wizard: Have a wonderful trip!!:)

I have a DBF as well that I'm dreaming of a Disney proposal from as well! :goodvibes

We were supposed to go last year as well (for our 5th wedding anniversary). DH was adamant about paying cash for the whole thing, and stuff came up so we had to cancel the trip. I was bound and determined to go this year, so I started saving up that day (again) and we're all booked up for this trip now. This one is 10 days now when last year was supposed to be 7. And since this trip is paid for I'm starting to think about another trip after this. lol

I used to live in California and went to Disneyland annually, but have never been to Orlando, so since I moved to VA it's been a huge dream of mine to go to DW and now with Universal having the Harry Potter park, my dream is complete! lol I know we won't get to do everything we want, but I want to pack this trip in with as much as possible. I think the next trip in 2012 will only be 5-6 days, but I'll take what I can get. :wizard:

We originally were planning on 10 days to make up for last year then we changed and decided to do to 8 days but when we switched from Sept to Oct and the nightly rate costing so much more and DH and myself both retired now( DH retired 12/30/10) had to cut back some place so 6 days it is now. Air Fare is a done deal we used our credits from last year so unless we got a really good deal % off room rate to make up for the fee to change our flights .....we are set with our 6 days. We are both happier with the Oct dates.

Yeah for the good news and being able to return to work so you do not have to change resorts. Hope the final test comes back with good results for you to.

it sounds like good news overall- so happy for you and wishing continued good health!!!

So I joined touring plans, thanks to all who recommended it. Seems really cool. The worst day/park of my entire trip is a 5.5 and that is DHS the night of Fantasmic, which we plan to attend but I guess a 5.5 isn't horrible right? The rest were all 3 and under. Seemed odd though for a 3 it was a "park to avoid" I guess thats just because it's the most crowded of the parks?

Thats good to know, cause I believe we are going the same time. We are heading down Oct 20 -29.

Hi! Can you add us to the list, please? We will be traveling to WDW Oct 7-15.

Here are our introductions...

Traveling Party

ME: I am a full-time mommy, a part-time pharmacist, and an all-the-time disney lover. As most people on these boards, planning is half the fun for me.
DH: Prior to marrying me, DH had only been to WDW once as a child. Let’s just say that the trip was not as magical as it could have been. Our first trip together was in October 2008 to celebrate our son’s first birthday. While he would not admit that he was immediately hooked, I have not had any trouble convincing him to return to WDW and I often overhear him telling other dads the benefits of a disney vacation.
DS: This will be DS's 4th trip to WDW AND he will be turning 4 during our trip! To say that he is 100% boy would be an understatement, he is full of life, knows no fear, and is always entertaining. Despite being a little firecracker, he is one of the most tenderhearted children I have ever known.
DD: Our little princess will be 25 months old when she makes her 3rd trip to WDW in October. If her big brother is 100% boy, then she is 110% girl! She has a bit of a shy side when she is in new situations, but is quickly becoming as much of a clown as her big brother!
Dmom: She is my planning partner-in-crime. We are always planning a trip somewhere. Jonathan and my dad don’t know it yet, but we are planning a trip on the Fantasy in 2012. :rolleyes1
Ddad: He works hard and plays hard. He loves spending time with my DS and DD. Most of his time in WDW is spent making sure they are having the best time possible!

Where are we staying?

Coronado Springs Resort, October 7-15

What will we do when we get there?

~ We will be celebrating DS's 4th birthday (October 10)! Our anniversary is Oct 14, but this trip is all about DS!
~ I have Pirates' League booked for his b-day and hoping to be able to book Pirate and Pals Firework cruise for October once the dates have been finalized. DS loves all things pirates and is Peter Pan's biggest fan!
~ We are visiting all 4 parks multiple days and are on the DDP.
~ Also, we are planning on attending MNSSHP. Just waiting on the dates to be released so we can purchase our tickets!

I think that is all... Looking forward to planning with you all!

My worst crowd days are the two Fantasmic! night both 5.5 too for DHS and I do plan to avoid that park. When I was there in 2009 on Fantasmic! day it was wall to wall people so bad my Ddil had a panic attack and we had to flee :scared1:

I have both evenings open after dinner and will either do MNSSHP one night and "IF" they offer a second show of Fantasmic! will do F! the other night. Just gonna play it by ear, who knows if we will feel like doing either maybe just relax at the resort.

I also have another evening open that happens to be a MNSSHP night so anything can happen once we get there.

Not planning on buying my MNSSHP tix ahead of time if a party sells out I will just choose another night to go......last year I bought our tix the first day they came out then we had to cancel our trip so I ended up giving them away to someone not about to make that mistake again and loose $100+ if something should happen and we miss our trip this year
