Ok, so....what else shall we talk about while we pass the time? How about the parties (Halloween or Christmas)?

Are you doing a party this trip? Which one/what date?

Have you done one in the past?

Has anyone ever seen Disney change hours to later than posted? I have a 8:20 BOG and hours changed to 8:00. I will drop it but I want to make sure it won't change again. Thanks

We're not planning on a party this year, but I did one of the Christmas parties with my mom last year :) We didn't really take advantage of the special things, like the parades or M&G - we just rode some rides and then watched the holiday Wishes!

We will be in MK on a Christmas party day, but not going! 7pm is late enough with a 2 year old and a 4 year old :)

So, we are doing the CP on 11/10. It's our first party ever. Me, DS, DD and my father (and maybe stepmother). I'm a little anxious about not having a set plan, I normally like to plan things down to the minute, and as its one of the first parties, I don't know how many reports I'll be able to read beforehand. But, I think my priority is going to be the all the holiday shows/activities, character meets that don't have long lines (won't wait more than say 10 minutes), and then any rides we may have the chance to do between shows & characters. We'll already have had 1.5 days in MK so will have already done all the rides we wanted to, anything we ride during the party will be a bonus. Me & the kids are not night people so it's going to be hard for us to stay up that late, but I'm going to try to have us sleep in that morning. My plan is catch the 2nd parade at 10:30 (yikes), and we'll probably head right out after that. :crazy2:

Going to the Christmas party on 11/10. First time and super excited!

We're going to JBJB the first night it opens (11/14), so look for my review! We were going to do SWaGS, but obviously those plans changed... I'm making this a surprise for my family - even DH doesn't know!

I'm doing the party on the 10th. I'm not big on character meets -- for me it's all about the rides, parade, fireworks, and snow on Main Street. This will be my second or third Christmas party... I've done the Halloween party a couple of times, too.

Yikes -- just checked the Disney website for park hours for the only park day I have down there and they've changed....instead of morning EMH being at MK on the 10th, now it's at Epcot. We're staying offsite and planned to rope drop Epcot to do Frozen (couldn't get a FP....I continue to try several times each day), then ride a few other things using FP, and then do some of the Food and Wine booths before hopping over to DHS for the afternoon, and then to MK for MVMCP. With EMH now at Epcot that morning, I highly doubt we will be able to get on Frozen with less than an hour and a half wait, and that's just not happening. *Sigh* So frustrated right now!

I'm so sorry that you're disappointed, but I'm pretty sure that there were no morning EMH at MK on Nov 10th before the park hour changes. I'm off-site and avoided EMH at the parks and the 10th is one of our MK days. Definitely keep trying on the FEA fastpass! :)

The November 2016 calendar at wdwinfo.com is still showing EMH at MK on November 10. So now I will try to reprogram the day. I wish I could be there longer than one day but I'm just tacking on a day to a business trip and I can't extend any longer than one day. I wasn't able to get FP for FEA for our August trip, either, even though we were onsite and I started trying the moment FP+ reservations opened on day 60....and several times every single day up through the last day of our trip. If it was just me I wouldn't be concerned -- I'm not all that interested in riding it, but my friend really, really, really wants to ride it. Since we're going to MVMCP that night, we can't use the "get in line a few minutes before park closing" tactic, so our best option is to rope drop. I think she's just going to have to suck it up and not ride it again on this trip -- she will be going back in January, so she might just have to try then.

I always, always, always avoid the parks with EMH days. Not going to be able to do that on this trip -- we're hitting three parks in one day. :-)

It's terrible that there is that kind of misinformation out there and it impacted your trip like this! :( So, I'm not endorsing this (as I know that some people are uncomfortable with it), but you could book a throwaway room. There is availability at the campground for November 9th for $59 - if you booked it for one day, you could take advantage of Epcot EMH and get free parking that day. Here's more info: http://www.disboards.com/threads/throwaway-room-update.3539209/. Perhaps not worth the cost or you may not feel comfortable with it, but just wanted to offer it as an option :) I hope you have a wonderful trip no matter what!

Thanks! I've definitely learned my lesson, though -- always check multiple sources for park hours and EMH! I've never had this happen before (this is my 10th or 11th trip). Oh well -- I'll still be at Disney, and that will automatically make it a great day.

I'm checking into availability onsite at any of the values for the night of the 10th -- that way we'd get free parking plus EMH on the 10th. We would still leave from our business trip location around the same time (early!) in the morning, but that would get us free parking and EMH.

I believe you get free parking and can attend EMH on both your check-in or check-out days :) Good luck!

I"m another one that ended up booking the 11/10 MVMCP! We've done MNSSHP before but new to Christmas :) Also new this year is the Family Magic Tour earlier in the week - it looks like a lot of fun and we're surprising the kids with it (actually surprising DH because I told him I had something planned but won't tell him any further so he doesn't google what it's about and he can be surprised too!) 16 days for me!!!

Off topic from all of the Magic band and ME posts (hopefully we will be getting ours in the next week!)...I need to make a choice, I have two options for dinner on the 23rd and two options for dinner on the 25th...I need to start thinking about cutting it down, especially since I don't believe I am going to get the 1900 PF dinner on the 23rd at this point in the game. Soooo if these were your options, what would you do? First day in the parks, at MK on the 23rd, stick to CP dinner (even though we don't really care about the character interaction) OR spend the day in MK, go back to our resort (OKW) and change into nicer clothes, go back in MK direction to dinner at Narcoossee's and then head back to MK in our nicer attire? On the 25th, I was able to get a 1900 PF dinner, however it takes the place of our other Narcoossee's reservation. So unless a miracle happens and someone drops 1900 PF on the 23rd, we are definitely doing this dinner on Friday. Ariane37...I know you are a big fan of Narcoossee's so my guess is you will tell me to stick to it :)
LOL you're right! I would definitely keep Narcoossees over CP, especially since you're a group of all adults :thumbsup2 It's really not such a pain to go back to your resort when you don't have kids with you, we do it all the time on our kid-free trips to change for signatures. I know you're heading right back to the MK area but again, not as much of a pain with adults. And as for going back to MK after dinner, just watch the shoes you wear since you'll be walking around again :) If someone absolutely HAS to wear heels to dinner, they can always bring a change of shoes in a bag or backpack, change after dinner and store the bag/backpack in a locker at MK if they don't want to carry it around.
Stick with Narcoossees on the 23rd ::yes::

Not doing either of those parties but as I mentioned upthread, I booked the new Jingle Jam Jingle BAM! dessert party for Thanksgiving :goodvibes Normally we don't have a problem finding good spots for Wishes, Illuminations, etc. but with the projections and what I've read about the SW fireworks, it's a bit difficult to have a really good view so I thought the party would be better - plus I love desserts lol.

We've done MNSSHP 4x and MVMCP 2x. I much prefer MNSSHP but the Christmas party was lots of fun, hence why we did it a 2nd time :) We never focused on rides during the parties until our last MNSSHP in 2014 but instead would do all the shows, lots of special character meets, and definitely the parades!

We did MNSSHP last year. Myself, DH and DS8 loved it but DD5 and DS3 fell asleep and missed most of it! This year we won't be doing a party because with the exchange rate (we live in Canada) it would cost us around $615.00 for a party that 2 of 3 kids will probably sleep through, LOL! I would love to do MVMCP but will wait a year or 2 so we can all enjoy it.:)
