***********Official "November 2014" thread- Come Join Us!!!! ************

We have 5 day park tickets and we're in Anaheim for 10 days so will do LA tour, go to outlets and after that we've no idea. We're thinking maybe one day just take it easy book Storytellers breakfast and stroll around DTD for a while. Anywhere else we should see we're from Ireland and it's our first time in California. Can't drive so can't hire car.

Food wise. I need mickey ice cream bars and cupcakes :lovestruc

My family (me, DH, DS (2), DD (6) and my niece (13)) will be there 11/13-11/16. I am running the Avengers half marathon on Sunday and DD will be running the kids' dash on Saturday. We will be staying at the Castle Inn & Suites as our usual.

Is the Castle Inn nice?

My family [me, DH, DS (4)] are going in November for a split trip ...

Visiting 11/16 so I can run the Avengers Half Marathon, followed by a few days in San Diego.

Returning to the park 11/19-11/22 to celebrate my 39th birthday (decided I'd much rather celebrate 39 this year than 40 next year).
Looking forward to trying a nice sit down dinner and enjoying the holiday decorations!

Thanks for doing this thread for November!

We are excited to be arriving on Thanksgiving Day-Nov 27th and heading home Dec 2. Staying at the Villas at the Grand Californian.

Wow! There's a lot of people already coming. Throw us in the mix, Nov 16-22 at the HoJo (unless I find a killer discount). Looking forward to getting back with an Annual Pass. After that week, we'll be back quite a bit I'm imagining.

For anyone that's been in November before what is the weather like that time of year. Should we plan shorts and t-shirts or like jeans and jumpers?

I would pack a little bit of everything. The last few years, we've been ok with jeans & tshirts during the day and a sweatshirt at night. It has been warm enough for shorts some days, but rained others.

The last question under Frequently Asked Questions in this post addresses weather for November and December.

I live in Southern California and have seen many different scenarios. I agree with Jamie -- bring a bit of everything. Sometimes we have random, fluke heat waves in November. It could be windy and dry. Sometimes it is raining heavily, or just drizzling. Sometimes it can be quite comfortable in the daytime.

I always say that September through December is a big question mark in terms of weather! We can look at averages, but weather has been so odd and unpredictable over the last few years that it's really hard to get a handle on what will happen now.

Days may or may not be very warm, but November is the time of year when I usually begin to notice a definite difference in the early morning and late evening air, and it's usually quite crisp and brisk.

I agree with this we went last November and it was very hot a few days then long pants and jumpers the next few days

Hello November trippers! My DGD (just turned 6) and I will be at HoJo's from November 20 - 26 and we're both soooo excited! I'm picking her up on Thursday right after school and we'll go straight to the airport and buzz down to SoCal for our magical week. We haven't stayed at HoJo's before but my DGD6 is super excited about the pirate-themed water play area. I know there's a whole stroller debate but I am renting from City Strollers because little feet just can't go as long as big feet and I don't want tired feet to ruin our fun. I took her in May and wore my fitbit, and we averaged over 9 miles a day walking - there's no way we could have done that without a stroller for her to take breaks in. Plus, it's super handy for holding snacks and all of the stuff you accumulate throughout the day. :) I imagine this trip the daily step count will be higher since the hotel is farther away (we were at the GC in May). I upgraded both of us to APs in May so this will be our first return trip unless I manage to squeeze a quick trip in this summer. My original plan was to go once a year and splurge, staying on site, but with the AP my game has changed and now we're going for more trips instead. I do love the GC and it was hard for me to give that up, but my DGD6 honestly won't care where we sleep and the water play area at HoJo's will be much more fun for her than the 2 slides at the GC pool. I know the weather might be tricky in November but I'm sure there will be a few good pool days in there! The other thing I hate giving up by not staying on site is EE. This actually has probably been the hardest thing for me to give up but the park hours are longer in November than they were in May so I think it will be fine. We marked a countdown on the calendar and it's still so far away! Oh well, more time for planning and anticipation. One change I'm making from something learned on our last trip - I'm getting a clear backpack. I bought the cutest clear blue Disneyland purse for my DGD6 from Studio365 in May and all of the bag check CMs said it was their favorite kind of bag to check, so I'm going for a clear backpack for myself to speed things along. Every little bit helps, right? Only 169 more days to go! :yay:

We are heading back to Disneyland for Thanksgiving, November 26 - December 1. It will be hubby and I and our 4 year old. We just bought a new fifth wheel, so we are going to tow that down. Our son is stationed in Oceanside, so he is planning to join us. What he doesn't know is that we are bringing his girlfriend with us! :goodvibes I am so excited to be able to spend Thanksgiving with my Marine! We are even going to do a makeshift turkey dinner in the fifth wheel!:thumbsup2

We will be there Nov 5-13 at the GCH!

After 15 years of going to the parks with my DH and kids, this is going to be our first Disney trip with just our family!! Our kids are all finally old enough [15, 10, 6, 6] to go on most of the rides and we don't need to rely on family to ride swap. The kids know we are going some time this fall, but not going to tell them exact dates til we get a little closer. We are also keeping it a secret that we are staying at the GCH.

Once again, well be down in November. We'll be there from the 6th through the 10th and are staying at the Tropicana.

Your welcome!

I have updated the thread so everyone is included in the dates. There are definitely a lot of us already! 5 months guys!

Who here has been to Disneyland at this time of year before? Seems to me like its an ideal time to go, especially once Christmas starts.

Would anyone like to share photos of their prior trips? Or share any special memories?

We have only been once as a family but I will never forget when Dale started dancing with my then two year old son, and then grabbed his hand, led him to the City Hall and got him a special button, and an autographed photo of him and Chip, then went over to Chip and had me take a pic of them with it with my son, and then he grabbed my sons hand and continued skipping all over main street with him. It was the sweetest thing. My son who loved all characters but never really got comfortable enough to talk to them in the short meet and greets, opened up and was talking to Dale and having the time of his life!

Ill see if I can share the video!

I just wanted to let everyone know that we have a big 3 month+ Theme Week Countdown starting in the Disneyland at Christmas/Holiday Season Superthread near the end of next month, and lasting until early November. (Right now we are in the "building up momentum" stage!)

So, hang on to those holiday season photos, because they will be needed! Last year we covered 20 themes. This year, there will be more than 20 themes. It's the biggest Theme Week Countdown so far, and this is the 4th year of it!

I will announce the exact date, rules and info about the Countdown in the Christmas/Holiday Season Superthread very soon. The Countdown relies on DLR (and other) holiday photos from our contributors, and there will be Disney gift card giveaways to a few people (again, more on that in the Superthread) -- including 2 photo contributors and 1 non-photo contributor.

Make sure to join us in the Superthread beforehand, just to follow along with what's happening and let us know you're out there! Last year we had more contributors than ever before! The great thing is that any Theme to which you contribute will earn an entry into the gift card giveaway. So you can enter 1 time or 20+ times. The more Themes you participate in, the more entries you earn and the more chances you have to win!

Ok this is the video of my son with Dale. There are two videos, one was from after they danced and the second is from after he got the button/picture. Sorry for my annoying voice and the second one is sideways for part of it! But they are still so cute!
