Called Dining tonight to see if I could make changes to 4 of our dining reservations. MDE acts funny sometimes, rather the just saying nothing is available it tells you to call. Of course I couldn't change anything, so frustrating. I really think the parks are going to be much more crowded with the free dining.

I'm pretty worried about the crowds as well.
And I've also never been able to make reservations using the MDE app, it always tells me to call. : (

I'm always excited to see an update in the app store for MDE on my iPad, as like today. Alas, no noticeable MDE changes (like MB!). 54 days to WL and still nothing. But I won't start to get disappointed until, umm, October 17. Or 25th. Maybe November 1?! I'm an optimist!

Thinking I will need to be trying the Glow With the Show Ears though, depending on the $$$. The video (from DL?) is supper cool!

I agree - the Glow with the Show Ears look fun! I was wondering about the cost...I may have to enjoy watching others ears

I have some friends that are cast members, and I am lucky enough to receive the friends & family discount. Right now, I have 40% off my room (a villa at OKW ). In another week or two, I should be at 50% off (the offer just needs to be extended). I would never have been able to stay at OKW if not for the discount. I'm actually going to end up paying less at OKW than I would if I had stayed at POR and got free dining. It just works for us (besides, having the kitchen, the kids can have pizza, they're DiGiorno addicts, and we have a full size fridge which is awesome).

So, no free dining for us, but still getting a wonderful discount.

You can call if (once) they extend it. I call about once a week even though my friend is checking as well. lol You can also add the dining plan to your reservation as well if you'd like to do that. If the percentage off extends, the dining plan discount of 15% should extend as well.

We're eating our way around the Food & Wine Festival so no need for the dining plan.

The Disney Park Blog posted a story this morning about the ears. Here is a piece of it.

Also, beginning on October 19, Glow with the Show Ears will become part of Wishes fireworks and the Celebrate the Magic nighttime projection show at Cinderella Castle in Magic Kingdom Park. And during the holiday season, be sure to wear your Ears for special surprises during The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights and performances of Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season.

They used to be lumped together, but since I haven't had "kids" on the dining plan in many years, I don't know if that is true any more. The last time my son was a disney kid, we bought him an adult QS meal, however, we were at different stations. For example, at Cosmic Rays. my DS and DH would be at the chicken and rib counter and order 2 adult meals, while me and DD were at another counter ordering 2 adult meals.

About the dining plan I assume as you are only paying child prices then you get a child's meal? This will be our first time on the DDP so I don't know the in's and out's of it but I am sure someone here will have the answer

Thank you so much for mentioning the Glow with the show ears here! I actually started a thread back in July with title Mickey Ears asking about these because I saw the World of Color videos with them. Back then I was told that WDW don't have these. I am so excited and would definitely purchase 4!!!! Are they expensive? Any links that has more details about this? I wonder if Fantasmic will be included too but I'm happy with Osborne Lights alone.

Per the dining plan terms, children must order off of the kids menu when available.

In practice, I have had CMs encourage me four different times to order adult meals for my hungry boys close to being a Disney "adult". But this is not hot it's *supposed* to work.
