Interview after the fact with the cowboys and the Globetrotters.
Can you tell me what it says....can't get the video if you (me) aren't in the US.

I think Vyksin (what a name!, made up, of course) overheard the answer at the checkpoint. I don't think she found it on her own. She and Kent can go anytime now - please!
Jennifer ;) and agreed! ::yes::

GT: The U-Turn is part of the game and we had to use it to save ourselves.
CB: They U-Turned us because we are good and they knew we could beat them. We could have beaten all of them!

This whole sharing the answers, is really getting old.

If two teams work together, I agree not an issue. The whole just giving out the answer is for the birds.

Giving the answer to all teams except the cowboys.

The show needs to put in a penalty for sharing answers. You CANNOT DO THAT!!!!!!!
Obviously, you can, or the show would already have a penalty in place for that.

I don't like when teams give out the answers, either. It makes for boring TV. But I can understand the strategy in this instance. The cowboys are a strong team. Help the weaker teams to eliminate the stronger teams, and you have a better chance of winning future legs.

I am now for "any team other than Kent" to win...whiney baby. ("You hit my ankle!")

Loved the shot of Zev's face at one point during the fondue challenge.
That shot of Zev was hysterical! :happytv: So was Kent riding in the cart with Vyksin pushing him! :happytv:

what i dont understand is if the globetrotters had already checked in and it was an elimination round why did they make the cowboys do the cheese challenge? on past seasons they just had the team go directly to the check in without having to do the challenge. was it because it was a uturn?
I get the feeling they didn't have to eat all the cheese. They didn't look nearly as full and sick as Zev and Justin did when they were "done". Of course, it also looked like they knew they were getting eiliminated, so they took their time and enjoyed the food. If they ate it all, I'm guessing they took much longer than Z&J to do it.

The question is, did the Globetrotters KNOW they didn't have to U-Turn the Cowboys? Did they KNOW they were headed for the pit stop? All they knew is that they were in 2nd to last place and that the Cowboys were behind them. I don't blame them one bit for U-Turning such a strong team. Even though the Cowboys had been off their game, they showed streaks of brilliance which could have carried them all the way.
I don't blame them, either. At that point, they didn't know how difficult it would be to find the pit stop. They could have gotten lost on the way, and the cowboys could have passed them.

We had cheese fondue for dinner last night, too. But I made a lot less than the AR teams were served, and shared it between 4 people, instead of two!

For the record, not every team was given the answer. When Justin gave his answer at the check point, he blurted it out when he only had to write it down on the post card. Jen overheard him and got the right answer. Then Justin told FT the answer, who told Gary. Vyxsin was never told and she didn't overhear the answer. Of course, it's possible CBS might have edited it to appear that way. And there is no way of knowing if the teams that were given the answer didn't already have the correct answer anyway.

Anyway, I could care less if teams share answers. I don't see how that is any different than when teams help each other up to complete a task.

 yup, that's about it in a nutshell. :lmao:

Haven't checked in here but all I have to say ab out last night is this:

I am going to watch last night's epsiode now. I can't believe the cowboys get eliminated! :(

They shouldn't just blurt out answers! Poor Jet and Cord! Anyway I didn't see the point in the U-turn being right near the check-in mat end! It seemed easy to get to the check-in!! They should have had one more challenge before the check-in point. Or they should have put the U-turn after the 22k challenge. Oh well hopefully Gary and Mallory or Zev and Justin win!! If not them then the Globe Trotters (even though they U-turned my fav. team:sad1: )

I'm all for teams helping each other. That may mean sharing answering, helping with a task, sharing a cab, or purchasing tickets for another team at the airport. This is a race for 1 million dollars, not a school project.

I agree with this. Or she was given the answer. It's very possible that the teams just decided they didn't want the Cowboys in the game anymore so why not give it to harmless Vyksin. The edit job didn't allow to see whether she overheard it or was given it.

I'm thinking it may be entirely possible that Vyksin had the correct answer. She never actually got lost or went the wrong way. She stopped her bike and got off at the intersection. So it's possible she didn't add on any additional km.

I will say that the Globetrotter that did that Road Block looked darn cute doing it. :)

I think she did it on her own as well.

One of the girls dropped her map--I was hoping for a penalty for that, but no dice.

I can see both sides on the helping/no helping, give the freeby answer.

I think this is such a sore issue because it twice impacted a beloved team.

But in the end, all decisions affect someone at some point in the game. It did make the show boring to watch after that point. But no rules were broken.

U-Turns are always after the detour because the U-turn causes them to do the other option.

Can't have it after a 22K bike ride b/c there is nothing to go back and do and defeats the purpose of calling it U-turn.

No I disagree completely. Just like in school, kids can work together but kids just can't give answers to all the people they like, that is CHEATING. Same principle in this game. If 2 teams get to a challenge simultaneously and want to work TOGETHER to complete the challenge, that is fine. No issues.

Teams giving the answers to other teams just to eliminate a strong team is stupid and pointless. You might as well just ask the team that completes the road block first which teams they would like to see advance and give them a card that says "proceed to check-in point."

Cheating in school is against the rules and punishment is involved if caught.....If it were against the rules (considered cheating) in this game there would be some sort of penalty, apparently it's not against the rules of the game.

While I agree I'd rather not have it happen I think the point is that they are trying to win a million dollars and if sharing helps eliminate the top competition then I don't think it's stupid.

I would like to think that I would play the game straight, but not sure with that much money involved and apparently no rule being broken.

I too was sorry to see the cowboys go

And I disagree completely. As long as the racers are following the rules, then sharing answers is NOT CHEATING. They are not in grade school. It is a game show. With clearly defined rules.

There is a strategy in playing Amazing Race, just like Survivor. I want to race the final legs against the weakest teams. If that means helping out a weaker team to eliminate a stronger team then that is brilliant strategy.

You might as well just ask the team that completes the road block first which teams they would like to see advance and give them a card that says "proceed to check-in point."
Well, Flight Time was given the answer last night and look where that got them. They were pretty close to being eliminated because they fouled up with the luggage challenge.

:thumbsup2 I totally agree.

I disagree completely with everything you just typed. My final word on this is that eventhough sharing answers (cheating) isn't breaking the rules of the show, it's still wrong. Very wrong. Like I said earlier, if this is going to be allowed, they might as well just ask the team that finishes first which teams they'd like to advance to the next round and give them a card that says "proceed to check point."

The problem with you reasoning here is that not every challenge involves figuring out an answer.

You can disagree all you want and call it cheating all you want and it's not going to change a thing. The show is not going to change and we are just going around in circles.
