"Official" Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2016 - Have Yourself a Very Mickey Christmas.

Ok, so we are going to WDW for Christmas. It's our family (me, DH,DS) and our best friends (43,43,S13,S5). There December 17-24.

We were considering MVMCP, but are really hopeful that there will be a Star Wars dessert party too. If there is a SW party, we will select that since everyone I'm our group is a SW fan.

Anyway, has anyone ever done both? Can you offer some comparison?
Do you think there will even be a SW dessert party? Dates for December aren't released yet.
Is there a specific December group? Seems like I remember there being a December thread last time we went.

Not sure how you can compare MVMCP to SW dessert party. MVMCP lasts several hours, includes access to many rides, special character Meet & Greets, special parade, special fireworks, cookies and hot cocoa (included w/ price of admission), etc... The SW dessert party just includes food and a special place to watch the fireworks. They are vastly different events, each with their own positives and negatives. SW dessert party is cheaper, of course, so there's that.

This. This is the 1st year for the Wishes Fireworks Holiday Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace. In years past, it was just the regular Wishes Dessert Party offered during MVMCP. This year special parade viewing added, so now Wishes Holiday Dessert Party. We did the regular Dessert Party in 2014, & waited closer to fireworks to enter Dessert Party, We felt is was a good view for the Castle show prior to fireworks & an awesome view of Tinkerbell. There is speculation that the SW dessert party will add dates, just continue to check the above thread.

View Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade from a special reserved location on Main Street, U.S.A. and private dessert party @ TT. Website doesn't state where on Main Street, but it's at the Flag Pole -- this is where it's been for past HalloWishes Dessert Parties. I'm sure OP will post of any changes after the 1st party.

Some here have mentioned plastic cards/tickets for MVMCP in the mail. I booked our MVMCP a couple weeks ago and it's in MDE, but we do not have mail from Disney with cards/tickets. Should I worry?

Also, how early would I have to stake out a fireworks spot on Sunday, Dec 18? We are going for the parade and fireworks, but the cost of the party itself is all we can do - we can't add the dessert party also.

I personally don't think with a limited time span that the desert parties are worth anything. Different people have different reasons why they want to attend these parties, however if you are one to make the most of your time at that parties...I personally had no problem getting a great seat for the second parade, and the fireworks weren't THAT packed as a normal day.

I try to get the special treats on the map to get my Christmas feeling in - as well as cookies and hot chocolate.

I've got print-at-home tix and have now printed them. I never thought to look, so thanks for the explanation. We did in 2014. DD6 ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! We did too! I tried not the think about the price, just took the plunge. There wasn't a delivery fee to resort with this package. We were at WDW during Christmas & this was our 1st time away from home on Christmas. Wasn't sure about the whole Santa Claus thing & room being "Christmasy". We had it delivered on arrival day, last time slot available. We personalized the pillowcase & blanket. The Door Sash was awesome to see every time we returned to the room and cool to see while in the room. Treats were delicious. DD loved the Mickey & Minnie plushes. So enjoyed everything during our entire trip. IMO, totally worth it!

Won't be visiting at this time of year again
Love short lines
Hate huge crowds
We don't meet characters
Enjoy fireworks from a distance
Don't usually watch parades

Usually, I don't go to the parades or fireworks because I hate fighting the crowds, and there's no way I'm going to line up hours before. I haven't seen Wishes for years and the last visit I really wanted to make it. What happened? Hit the parks early and our mid-day "break" turned into hanging by the pool the rest of the day and getting room service for my soon-to-be-passed-out kids.

December trip is going to be different (I hope). Kids are a few years older and they like to sleep in. Taking my parents and sister along. For nostalgia's sake, I really wanted to stay club level at the Poly, but decided to save almost 10K and use my points to stay at the Dolphin on Starpoints. Plan to hit the parks later, soaking in the ambience, riding a few rides, and signing up for every premium event that makes my life easier.

For me, doing the dessert party is a no-brainer knowing the party will be sold out, and I'll be able to stroll up 15 minutes before the parade and have a seat for Holiday Wishes.

Yes, and much more costume-y. We wore Christmas shirts and I had a headband when we went, but we also saw many people in tacky/ugly Christmas gear, head-to-toe.

We are going to MVMCP for the first time this year. I'm wondering if we need to still try to see MSEP earlier in the week or if the Christmas parade should be enough. We've seen MSEP on our two previous visits and hate having to stake out a spot at least an hour in advance. It's only scheduled for our first MK day because of all the parties that week. Since we know we'll see the Christmas parade on our party night, I'm thinking we shouldn't worry about staying for the MSEP earlier in the week. What do y'all think?

If a party sells out, will it be so crowded it won't be enjoyable? One reason for us purchasing party tickets (besides the atmosphere) is for shorter wait times for rides. Should I plan on the typical long waits if it is sold out? Going on December 18th, so it's sure to sell out.

I'm sorry, maybe I am misunderstanding what people have said because I cannot tell for sure if you have seats for either the fireworks or for the parade IF you take part in the Dessert Party. Are there seats for one or both parts? That would change a lot for me, as we did the Holiday Tour at DLR, which was pretty boring with our dull but nice, soft-spoken guide, BUT totally worthwhile because we got awesome seats (with hot chocolate and a treat) for the parade. It made the experience with three kids 2-7yo just so civilized. (Unlike the stroller-on-stroller ~violence we dealt with at the DLR Halloween party fireworks.)

Seating is for the fireworks only. From the website:

• The viewing location for Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade is outdoors, uncovered and offers standing room only. However, while seating is not available for parade viewing, wheelchairs and ECVs can be accommodated.
• Seating will be available at the dessert party on a first-come, first-served basis—though every table features views of Cinderella Castle.
