"Official" Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party 2016 - Have Yourself a Very Mickey Christmas.

We are going to MVMCP for the first time this year. I'm wondering if we need to still try to see MSEP earlier in the week or if the Christmas parade should be enough. We've seen MSEP on our two previous visits and hate having to stake out a spot at least an hour in advance. It's only scheduled for our first MK day because of all the parties that week. Since we know we'll see the Christmas parade on our party night, I'm thinking we shouldn't worry about staying for the MSEP earlier in the week. What do y'all think?
I would say it depends on your other priorities. For us, while I would love to see MSEP again, the Star Wars fireworks and Jungle Book/ROL would be more important. So depending on how that all pans out, we may or may not see MSEP.

Either way, my understanding is those non-party days are really busy at MK... so be prepared for that!

ETA: We did not try to see MSEP or regular Wishes last year when we went to MNSSHP.

Thanks! I am prepared for bigger crowds on our first MK day (the non-party day), but we do have another MK day planned on a non-party day. We'll have to leave the park by 7pm, but I'm hoping for much lower crowds. The last night of our trip will be MVMCP, so we'll plan to be at MK by 4pm to take full advantage of our party tickets. I'm not going to stress if we miss MSEP and regular Wishes since I know we'll be able to see the Christmas versions.

Every party I went to seemingly was sold out - and it was still very manageable...no worries you will be fine.

Again I'm speaking on the experience of two late 20 adults without kids...but I didn't see any hurdles.

for the dessert party are you able to show up for the parade, leave to do other stuff around the park and then come back for the fireworks?

This is 1st year for special dessert party for MVMCP, Wishes Holiday Dessert Party, so would need reports after 1st MVMCP or jump over to MNSSHP thread for reports on past HalloWishes Dessert Parties. I do believe PP reported showing up 15-25 minutes prior to parade vs 1hr prior, since parade doesn't reach that area until ~20min after start time. Same for dessert/fireworks. With your party credentials you'll be granted access.

This will be our first time going to one of the special Parties. After reading some of the background I have a question I just want to clarify. If not entering the park until after 4pm, I don't need a regular park admission ticket right? Just my MVMCP ticket (which I already got in the mail yay!) I ask because we are going to be there for 7 days and I have a 6 day park hopper, so if were to take is slow the day of the party and not get to the park until 4 with my MVMCP ticket I would save a day on my park hopper right?

Correct!

That is correct. But if you wanted to go to any of the parks, you will need a day's admission. Since there's just the 2 of us, I've always just bought the park hopper admission for every day of our trip. It's only a few extra $$$ pp. And, just in case we felt the urge to hit a park if the mood strikes us that morning, or if we get a park restaurant breakfast or swing by Mouse Gear.

That is our plan too - heading to Disney Springs for lunch, then off to the party!

Unless they do a holiday themed diner at Be Our Guest with Bell in her Red Dress and some elaborate Christmas décor - I just don't have the necessaity to eat a table service meal when its' Christmas - too much to do, too much to see!

Can't wait for the party this year. DDs and I are making a short girls-only trip. They will be 18 and likely the last trip together for many years. We have one day left on our never-expire passes so we are going one day to MK on 12/13 with a pre-park ADR (booked BOG, hoping to switch to CP), one day hanging out at Disney Springs then dinner at Sanaa, and then MVMCP on 12/15.

We had such a great time at our first party last year. We aren't big character meeters so we spent most of our time on rides and we had some of the shortest lines I've experienced in 30+ years of park visits. We squeezed in to the parade viewing since we are all fairly tall and then caught the castle projection and fireworks. It was an amazing night and I can't wait to do it again.

This was a sold out night (second to last) and from a rides perspective, it was awesome. We loved the atmosphere and spirit of the night and can't wait to do it again.

Oooh, that would be fun to see! What a good idea for Disney to do at BOG.

Can anyone help with my 2- part question?
1)Can you purchase party specific merchandise before 7 if you have your wristbands? Tickets?
2)photo ops other than toy soldiers and poinsettia trees exclusive to the party?

Not sure about #1 - but for #2, there are characters that you can only meet at the party. Specifics will come out closer to the party, but in past years, it has been characters like the 7 Dwarfs, etc.

1. Party merchandise will be available starting with the 1st party. When we went in 2014, there was some party merchandise for sale at the store on Main Street & this was on our non-party day. PP - correct if wrong. Also, a lot of merchandise sells out before the last parties.

2. By flagpole, PP with frame that says MVMCP. Princesses with their Princes. As mentioned 7D. Minnie Mouse in Peppermint Dress. Santa Goofy, but he's at HS too. Reindeer back by NFL with PP.

Thanks- I should have been more specific- I know about the character photo ops- I was thinking more along the lines of a sleigh- thought I saw it somewhere...

NFL- New Fantasyland entrance by Dumbo & Big Top Treats. By Casey's Splash area was where Minnie Mouse was, as well as, Scrooge McDuck & family. Also, Sandy Claws exclusive to party. He's back there as well where old paper FP Kiosk was.

Question:

We've never been to a Disney party before. We were already planning on going to Fantasyland when we arrive at 4pm so our kids can do Casey's Splash, Barnstormer, Dumbo, etc., so that we don't have to waste our MK day doing those things. If I wanted to wait to meet a rare character there and lined up before the party started, how faux pas would it be to have my kids join me in line once the party starts? Is that really frowned upon? I'm willing to wait a couple hours while they do the little kiddy rides, but no way would they be able to wait that long.

Also, has anyone ever waited for Scrooge? I know Sandy Claws is a bigger draw, but how's the line for Scrooge McDuck?

Party M&G lines different than normal ones & rides. These lines have more room & can walk right up to your party vs passing through narrow lines. Lots of people without h kids do this @ party for characters. We did this for 7D & the family behind. Dad's waited while us mom's & daughter's went on a few rides. Others behind us too. No issues with PP around us.
