****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Congrats Soarin' Mama! You have some great ADR's! So you didn't have any issues with making them online? I was trying to play around last night with making reservations a few days before our trip and it kept kicking me back out to the reservation home page. I'm hoping I can do them online in a couple of days. I don't want to call.

You have many of the restaurants we want. We are not doing the DP this time either and I'm stressing a bit over how many table service ADR's to make. I'm like you, I know I will feel better once I have a plan!

Nope, no problems at all. After each reservation, I just used the little reservation navigation on the left and it was easy peasy. And when I called at 7 their time, 5 our time, I got someone on the phone with no wait at all. It was awesome!

I am back! Was on Thanksgiving vacation to see family with extremly limted internet! Which meant no Disboards and no question of the day. I do see that everyone has put up some good dining plans, we have some new May Disers to welcome, and lot other fun things!

Question of the Day:
How was everyones Thanksgiving? - And if you could have or did spend it in WDW, what restaurant would you have had your meal at?

Hi :wave2: I would like to come and join in on the fun! We will be coming at the end of May and most of June but this thread is so much fun. Shhh don't tell the other guys :)

I am planning my most fabulous trip yet! We are spending 22 days in WDW! May 30-June 20 I have booked the Royal Guest room at POR and we planned a surprise night at the Nick Hotel.

Welcome! Nick Hotel will be so much fun!

We will be staying at the Beach Club Villas from May 16 to May 20. :cool1:

Great resort choice!

We are going to be at All-Star Movies from May 13-22 -- anyone else?

It's my DD's first Disney visit, my DH's 2nd visit (although he only saw part of MK and part of Epcot, and it was 1997) and my first trip as a "real" guest -- I was DCP Fall 2009 but left immediately after program was over and have never been back so far.

I'm very excited! We may have to change our days due to my work -- we have bank examiners ARGH due to come somewhere around there, which I can't be away for. Rather than wait I just scheduled for our "ideal" time and we'll just hope it works out. If not we'll see what's available when I finally figure out when those meanies are arriving!

Sounds like so much fun!

If we went to Disney during Thanksgiving I would want to have dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. Can't pass up the traditional meal on Turkey day!

Hmmm, Thanksgiving Dinner at Disney ... sounds wonderful! I think I would go with something non-traditional. Maybe 'Ohana? Whispering Canyon Cafe would be fun too!

Question of the Day:
Do you have a "Disney fund" of loose change or something like that?

Question of the Day:
Do you have a "Disney fund" of loose change or something like that?

Yes. We have a big glass jar (looks like the plastic jugs for water coolers, but it is glass). We also round up in our checking account. (Ex: If we spent $22.43 at the store, we would subtract $23 from our account balance.) We take the extra at the end of the month and put it in our Disney fund.

Question of the Day:
Do you have a "Disney fund" of loose change or something like that?

Yes! We have a ceramic, milk bottle shaped container that has a Fairy on one side and says "Fairy Dust" on the other. It was made to be a bank, so it has a coin slot and a cork top. I love it! I found it at a consignment shop a couple years ago. We throw all our silver change in there. We usually save enough for our groceries (breakfast/munchies) for six people and some adult drinks!

Question of the Day:
Do you have a "Disney fund" of loose change or something like that?

Absolutely. I have a penguin money box that I put all my change in at the end of the night. Anything shy of a 50p goes it there.

Once a month I change the stuff up into pound coins that goes into another money box. When that gets full I change it up into dollars to take with me when I next travel over.

I sure do! Whatever I make in tips and whatever lose change I have at the end of the day I put in my purple piggy bank :goodvibes

Also we save all we get from bottle returns and keep that in a little box. You'd be surprised how much money you can get just from returning bottles!

Question of the Day:
Do you have a "Disney fund" of loose change or something like that?

Absolutely! We have a big glass jar filled with coins and then a glass mickey mouse cookie jar that we throw our change in everytime we come back from shopping. I also have a mickey mouse bank in my room that I stick all my loose change in too. It's a rule that we never spend any change in our house. Every coin better go in that Disney fund!!

We also recycle aluminum cans and the extra money is split between my brother and I for spending money in WDW!

Question of the Day:
Do you have a "Disney fund" of loose change or something like that?

Yes! We have a savings account set aside for a vacation fund. I put the contents of the piggy bank in there, as well as any windfalls/tax refunds/money for things we sell on eBay, plus I make a small monthly deposit from my paycheck into there. The interest rate sucks, but we leave the money in there alone and I figure it'll earn a few cents. When the credit card I used to pay for the trip goes from 0% interest to the regular rate in about 6 months, I'll pay down on it with whatever we've managed to save by then. We've done something similar in years past although this is the most we've spent on a vacation so I doubt we will be able to pay it all off by then.

Yes! We save our change and the girls and I have a lot of fun dumping it on the floor and rolling it to cash in for our Disney snack/souvenir $$. It teaches math skills too. :thumbsup2

I also have a transfer from our paychecks each time we get paid. If the money is transferred out right away, it's much harder to spend. :)

Question of the Day:
Do you have a "Disney fund" of loose change or something like that?

Yep! Each time I go to the grocery store, I pull out an extra $10 to put in our bucket (an old Pine Sol jumbo jar). Also any loose change/cash after each week goes in. Its building up pretty quick!

Question of the Day:
Any luck on getting a hotel upgrade before? If so, tell us how you did it!

Question of the Day:

No, but I would love to! Of course, we're staying at preferred Pop Century this time so I guess the upgrade would be a suite? I'm still okay with that! Would they ever upgrade us from Pop Century preferred to Art of Animation suite or is that a long shot? We would love to stay at Art of Animation but it is just so darn expensive for a suite and that is all they have available.

Also, fabulous news today. I finally got to book 2 ADRs!! Mama Melrose and Via Napoli!
Still need to book The Garden Grill and Ohana's later. I tried making online reservations this morning, but they wouldn't go through and I had to call. The first time they hung up on me? I don't give up that easily!
This is exciting for me because usually my parents take care of all of it, but since I'm in college now and understand everything about booking, I finally get to do it all! :woohoo:

Also, does anyone know what the cancellation policies are for Mama Melrose and Via Napoli. I know each restaurant is different but is there a list anywhere? I tried to look it up but they said to ask when on the phone or making the reservation and I didn't realize it.

Question of the Day:

I use my Disney Visa for that. I never pay interest so the money I get back is free and clear. RIght now I have $478 for our May trip. Going to be a great meal at California Grille :rotfl:
