****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Mark, what flight are you on? Seems like we're both leaving on the same day...

Wow, it's really going to be that crowded? My parents have gone the same week for the last 3 years (anniversary tradition), and they said they've never waited more than 30 minutes for a ride... I hope that changes!

Whom are you getting your crowd calendar from? I use touring plans and their numbers for the 30th and 3rd are lower.

I got them from Touringplans.com. I have signed up for the crowd tracker, so they send me emails if the crowd level changes. I got this email Wed. and I copied and pasted directly from the email. This is per park crowd levels.

OMG we must be looking at touring plans having two sights :lmao: When I looked, I've been a member for years, I saw lower numbers. Maybe I need to clear out my cache. :confused3

I wouldn't put much faith into those touring plans. They were predicting really high crowds for when we went to MNSSHP on October 30th this year and seriously, it was NOT that bad. We walked onto a lot of rides and went straight through lines for candy. I don't know why people even try to predict what crowds will be... they never seem to be accurate.

I had to readjust a few of our ADR's unfortunately. My MIL is not very good with her money and has not been budgeting for this trip at all so at her expense, we're having to cancel some of the things I was most excited about (Hoop De Doo & the Dessert party) :(

:confused3 I willl keep my fingers crossed that your numbers are the more correct ones!

We are going to be at All-Star Movies from May 13-22 -- anyone else?

It's my DD's first Disney visit, my DH's 2nd visit (although he only saw part of MK and part of Epcot, and it was 1997) and my first trip as a "real" guest -- I was DCP Fall 2009 but left immediately after program was over and have never been back so far.

I'm very excited! We may have to change our days due to my work -- we have bank examiners ARGH due to come somewhere around there, which I can't be away for. Rather than wait I just scheduled for our "ideal" time and we'll just hope it works out. If not we'll see what's available when I finally figure out when those meanies are arriving!

Welcome! We will be coming in a few days behind you on the 26th and staying at the Poly.

I know you guys will have a great time! This site is wonderful for planning and asking questions. I've found out about so many things I never would have known about if it weren't for the Dis.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm so excited and happy that I'm finally getting to come back after all these years, AND to show it to my daughter is a dream come true!

I just noticed that your dd is 5. What a perfect age! My youngest dd was almost 5 on our last trip and she was the perfect age for the "magic". She will have just turned 6 on our next trip and I'm hoping it is all still magical for her. I LOVE sharing Disney with my girls! :yay:

I hope it will be a good age. She has some sensory/overstimulation problems (fairly mild) but has done well at Busch Gardens and also a regional smaller theme park so I'm thinking she should do okay at WDW if we go a little slow and take some breaks. I've booked quite a few days for that purpose, so we won't have to go so fast but still hopefully can see most of what we really want to do.

5 is the perfect age, eh? My niece and nephew are going to be 4 and half... Personally, I don't remember anything from before 5 years old... But I'm hoping they remember this trip. They're both nuts about Disney.

I believe that sometimes you just have to enjoy it for the moment. The children may not remember it but the parents sure will.
Last week when I was at Disneyland Paris we encountered the sweetest, heartwarming minute or two of Baloo interacting with a 6 months old little girl, she won't remember it but her parents will treasure that moment forever.

As someone just said, they likely won't remember it years down the road but they will for a few months or more and the parents sure will.

Our DD's were 5 and 6 for their first time and everything was real to them. It wasn't some dude or dudette in a Pooh costume, it really was Whinnie pushing her wheel chair!

The memories for the parents are priceless and the sheer innocent enjoyment of the young kids are truly one of life's wonders.

I had a couple questions about the dessert party at MK. We are going May 13-20th and are thinking of trying it. Has anyone ever been to it, is it worth the money? Are the desserts good? Also, when will I be able to book it? I'm assuming it doesn't fall under the 180 day thing, because I just tried to make a reservation and it wouldn't let me :confused3

Dh and I got up at 3:45(mountain time) and were able to make all of our ADRs with no real problems! I did have a hard time booking the Fantasmic! Package, but when I called up there at 5:00 our time, I was able to book the Hollywood Brown Derby at 4:20. For some reason, their online calendar for dining events didn't show anything beyond April, so I was worried that maybe everything had been booked, but apparently staying up and calling was worth it.

Here's our list of ADRs

Sat 26th- 50's Prime Time, 5:00 We ate here on our first trip, but because of some personal stuff going on with the family who traveled with us, we didn't get any good interactions, even though we were really hoping for it. This is kind of a redux and healing meal for us. We are going to be replacing a negative memory with a positive one, therefore it is our first table meal while in the world.

Sun 27th- Chef Mickey's, 7:15 Ds is really excited about this one!

Monday 28th- Tusker House character lunch, 11:00/ Hollywood Brown Derby, 4:20 We are not on the DDP, but we decided to do two meals this day. Mostly because AKL has EMH that day, and DS really had his heart set on doing the new character lunch. I (half-heartedly) tried to convince him to do Flame Tree instead, and he was willing to acquiesce ever so sweetly. But we figured what the heck. Since we know we want Brown Derby, we have to pay for a meal OOP anyway, so we might as well give him the time of his life with a character meal and Fantasmic! in the same day. I am so happy we made that decision, even if I'm a bit worried about having two big meals just a few hours from each other.

Tues 29th- Whispering Canyon Cafe, 5:00. We ate here our first trip, too, and it was one of the most amazing meals for the three of us. Very fun and magical. Ds doesn't really remember it too well, so we're giving it another go.

Wed 30th- 'Ohana, 5:00 Ds was all set for another character meal, but when I read the Breakfast and Dinner experiences for 'Ohana to him, he decided that dinner sounded like a better experience. I'm really excited about this one!

Thurs 31st- Liberty Tree Tavern, 11:30. This will be our last full day in the parks, so we thought we'd top off our meals with LTT. Honestly, the lunch menu sounded much more appealing to us than the dinner buffet, and that's why we're doing 11:30. This is also the day that we're going to make reservations for The Pirates League and try and do the Captain Jack's Pirate Tutorial. I think it'll be a really fun day!

I'm so exhausted right now, but I'm completely over the moon :cloud9: I feel like the most stressful part of our planning is over, and now we can get to the fun stuff. Mostly, I just can't stand not having a basic plan, and I wasn't able to sleep well because I kept dreaming that none of the restaurants we wanted had availability and I had to settle for things we didn't want at crazy times like 10:30 pm. A load is off and now it's game on!
