Official May 2011 thread!

Only 30 days before we leave! That's because we are driving from NM and camping and sightseeing along the way. Going to the Everglades before the highlight of the trip...WDW. :woohoo:
Haven't packed anything but can get to what I need quickly. (Also no kids to pack for just DH :rolleyes1).

Yay...I can play in this thread too!
I wish I could figure out to make a ticker...but 57 days till our trip! We'll be there May 18-31.
I can't pack because dd doesn't know yet...she will find out at her birthday party in 2 1/2 weeks though, and then we can really start to get excited!

So I have a question for all the May people...
Is there a reason why the Magic Kingdom is open later on Thursdays than Friday?
I'm baffled! :confused3

Grad night maybe?? not sure. I'm a high school teacher and we send our grads to Universal, so I'm out of the Disney Grad Nights loop.

Touringplans says Gradnight is May 6 and 7 only... and MK actually closes earlier to accommodate the gradnight...

Today is 52 more days! We are staying at SOG. Yes, have done some "light packing" the usuals and the hats. :woohoo:

Well fellow May/June DIS travelers, it looks like I am going to have to say goodbye to you all. I think that we are going to cancel our summer trip. :sad1: I am not happy about this at all:mad: but after taking our crew to the zoo last week and staying two nights at a hotel, I just don't know how we could swing a five night stay at WDW with a one year old.:sad2:

I was thinking about maybe doing a Christmas stay, but we have never been during that time. I would consider going the week before Christmas, but how crowded is WDW at that time in comparison to the first week of June? The plus side that I see to going then: cooler weather!!! What do y'all think? If we don't go this winter when the DD is 18 months, then we will wait until next summer when she's two.

Whatever we do, I'm still bummed.

I'm sorry you got to cancel.

We actually prefer WDW vacations b/c we own DVC and can do one bedrooms so kids sleep in their own room and we in another. We are spoiled now when we have to stay in a regular hotel room and go to bed early and all.

As for the parks and all, we just try to keep it slow and work around their schedule. It helped that my girls always napped in their stroller so we didn't feel completely trapped by their schedule.

Maybe you'll reconsider your decision after you've had a few days to think about it and how you could prepare differently for the trip? Was this your first trip with baby? It's certainly an eye-opener (at least it was for us) to travel for your first time with baby...all the things you have to bring, all the extra stuff to do, the flexibility that is required b/c "something" is going to happen ... but I think it's great to introduce babies/toddlers to traveling early on.

Either way, good luck in your decision!

46 days to go! It needs to get here faster! My DW fund is going up and up! Can't wait to spend the money on some souvenirs!

45 more days until we leave! I cannot contain myself much longer. We are super excited.

49 days til AKL! And we went to home depot last night and "borrowed" some Mickey head paint samples and made a really cute countdown board! It helps make the wait go faster!

Hi everyone, I am getting married in WDW this May, but we have a little dilemmna! We don't have enough people staying on property to fill our room block!

We're getting married on May 6th and my fiance and I would appreciate it so much if anyone would be willing to let us add your reservation # to our room block so we can fill in the missing days. We need about another 15 days or so. Any help is greatly appreciated! :worship:

Please PM me if you can help at all! Thank you so much.

Time seems to be going so slow. We will be driving down from michigan and leaving on may 7th. Can't hardly wait. Have already started packing small stuff and checking it off my list.:yay: Hope to see some of you Diser's down there. :banana:First time for staying at the resorts. we will be staying at Pop. Me 55, ds 28, and sons friend 27. I am a little more slower than i was when we went 11 years ago :headache: so i will have a rolling walker w/a seat to help me along. I am a little worried about my walker getting stolen since it is so light. Have any suggestions. :worship: I was thinking of a bike chain to the wheels so it can't be wheeled around but someone could just pick it up. I won't need it in line so i will be leaving it with the strollers.

Bless you for driving from MI. My in-laws do that every year (from the Detroit area). I don't mind it so much anymore since I moved further south :goodvibes
