Official May 2011 thread!

Decided this weekend that we are going in May instead of trying to rush a trip this month. Still havent decided which week to go yet, Either starting the 6th or the 13th. Just me and my DD so we are really looking forward to it.

Hi All! I'm late to the party but Hubby man & I decided this week with the help of a free dining pin to go in May for my birthday and our anniversary! We are so excited to get back, we were just there in December. This will be a kid free trip so we are excited about that as well.

We are staying May 13-17 at Caribbean Beach with full park hoppers and upgraded to DxDP. So far we have ressies at California Grill, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Le Chefs de France, 'Ohana, & The Plaza restaurant.

So happy I get to do the happy dance again!!

Hello All!

May is coming so quick! We'll be in WDW May 7th-14th, which I know is the week before Star Tours will be opening. Do you think they'll be doing a soft opening of Star Tours that week to test drive it?

I'm hoping I can get DH on it. If not, I'm sure we'll be in Disneyland this summer so we can see it there...but it'd be fun :)

TIA

Just booked a trip for DH and DS for the May 20-22 Star Wars Weekends! Celebrating our son's 13th birthday with a father/son trip.

Oh my gosh im SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO close to being under 90 to go!

Very excited this morning! I may bring my PTR back to life :cheer2:

Well, DH told me last night that he really doesn't want to take our youngest DD to WDW this year.:sad1: She will be one in June and we were planning on going right before her birthday. That did NOT make me happy at all. :sad2:

Could someone please tell me where we can go, as a family, with a one year old for a vacation this summer. :confused3 Hmmmm........I'm pretty much thinking that WDW is it. Where else caters to families with little ones?

Apparently, DH just doesn't want to deal with the whining and crying while there. Now I understand that, but I'm thinking that she will get better in a couple of months. If any of you have been with a one year old to WDW, please tell how it went for you.

I haven't canceled yet. He said that we can wait until the day that we are supposed to pay off our trip - that means April. UGH!!!

We are going on May 8 (89 days!) for 8 nights. We usually go in the summer but after last July and almost fainting I have had it with the mid summer heat and humidity.

Heading down 5/22! Can't wait. Last trip was Thanksgiving and although the Christmas decorations, smaller crowds were nice - I missed the warmth and pools at night, etc that comes with a summer trip. SO looking forward to it. :cool1:

We booked our May trip at the end of November and just this week added to whole days! Our official dates are May 1-8 and we are staying at Kidani Village.
This will be our first trip as DVC members and we are very excited!

I've been busy reworking my plans, and adding more ADRs. The most exciting is that I finally get to go back to California Grill- I talked DH into this time :woohoo:

We will be staying at CSR from May 8th (my birthday) till May 15th.

I'm hoping there will be some 6-8 yr. old girls there to keep my girls company in the pool. I have twin daughters that are 8 and a 6 year old daughter.

Okay, this is the first I have heard about that! We were there in December, I never saw anything about night-vision goggles!
My mom told me about them, and I read about them on the WDW website and I think on Allears. Can't wait!

is it any dinner or are there specific times you have to book....did you do it online or did you have to call and ask specifically for the fantasmic package

ETA: thanks for the info!!!!! sorry forgot cause I'm sooo excited bout this trip and busy trying to plan...it's overwhelming...lol
Sorry I didn't see this sooner, you may already have your answer. Just in case though...You have to specifically book the Fantasmic Dinner Package. If you go to the WDW website and look under the "Where to Eat" section, then click on "dining event" you will see Fantasmic Dinner Package as one of the options. It's only available on certain days as Fantasmic is only offered certain days now.

this may sound stupid but I'm gonna ask it anyway LOL....if the park closes before dark why would you need night vision goggles.....and can anyone go up and ask for them or is it a part of a special package :confused3
I see you got your answer, but I wanted to say something anyway since I missed your post! I get distracted easily :rolleyes1...Anyway, yes, the night vision goggles are at AK. We are staying there for three days, so I thought we'd eat at Boma and then view the animals.

We (DH and I) will be there May 7 through May 14 BWV:cool1: Our first Dis meet on the 7th:banana:

Well that stinks to get all excited about it and then have to consider canceling:sad1: Do your other kids know that a trip was booked already?
I can understand his point of view, it is hard having small kids in the heat at such a crowded place...but have you done this before with your other children? If so, how was the experience?

For our first family trip, my younger two were 18 mths & 2.5. We rented a house so it was nice and quiet for naps and we could close the door so the other kids didn't wake them. We got about 3 hours max (mostly 2) at a time at the parks, before it was time to give them a break-which we were prepared for, so we weren't let down.
I would take the babies to the playgrounds at the parks while dh took the older kids on the big rides. That way, they weren't "confined" to sitting in a stroller and not wandering around aimlessly either.
Overall, we had a nice time, we missed out on a lot too, but that is why we are going back 4 years later;)

Hey! Looks like we're heading down on the same day! Our trip is double digits too, 95 Days!!
