Driving from our fair state? God bless you guys. I did that once, ONCE and never will I do it again.

I like to fly too much. My driving limit is 10 hours and then i completely loose it after that.

Yeppers. Right from Union county. 3rd time in a year. Once for only 3 days in FL. I used to hate it and think I could never do it either but if it's drive to save money or don't go...I got used to driving. I just sleep most of the way. I'd MUCH prefer to fly though.

Mysteria - maybe we'll see you on the road. What time are you leaving?

Technically on the 9th about 1 or 2am. I won't have slept though so it's still the 8th to me.

We'll stop in Hardeeville, SC and leave about 6am the 10th to finish the drive.

I think the same thing! We are driving 17 hours to afford to go to disney this time. It is also value resorts every time or we just wouldn't be able to go. Maybe once we have 3 kids and take all of them we will have to bump up to a resort that fits 5....we shall see.

I've stayed offsite the last time and will be this time as well. With 6+ (some come and go throughout the trip) people and 2 dogs it just makes sense. We rent a pool house. I'll admit I do miss onsite though. Next time DH and I go alone I want to go back onsite.

We're going May 10-15 (staying at POP) to celebrate our son's 5th birthday! We start our drive from NJ a month from today!!! Is it too early to start packing?????

We are driving and so have gotten two mickey mails - one with our dinning plan and confirmation numbers and what not. Then we got the vacation planning DVD the other day. I read that with the magic your way package that you are suppose to get luggage tags it didn't say anything about flying or not. So am I suppose to get some or not?

There are two kinds of luggage tags: one is a plastic type with ties that are more like souveniers (sp). They have a castle picture and the logo "what will you celebrate" on them. Everyone (I think) gets those. We received ours for our May trip right after we paid our deposit in January. Second type of tag is a peel off tag color coded for your resort. These are for the Magical Express transportation system that picks you up from the airport and takes you toyour resort. You get these when it gets closer to your departure date. You place these on your luggage when you check it at the airport (in addition to whatever the airlines put on them) for the ME so the ME people can grab your luggage when it arives in Orlando. If you are driving,you won't get these lables. You wouldn't need these because (1)no one is going to be getting your bags at the airport (2) you won't be using ME becaue you have your own transportation.

I'll also be at POR from May 2-6, clebrating my niece's 15th birthday.

For families, driving is probably the way to go. My parents probably would have done the same.

Good luck to you! We are from NJ and I wish I could drive, I only know that 1/2 way there everyone would annoy me so much, my only 2 options would be turn around and go home or drive right off a bridge! Oh wait I have anopther option, take the luggage tag that I won't need put them around my neck and hang myself.

Yep! My DH had to drive down one year because he had knee surgery and could not bend it for the airline seats but could get aroudn fine for the trip. I flew down! the thought of driving 22 hours (even stopping half way in MS to see our son) was not an inducement! I would have ripped off the battery cables and used them to hang him or myself somewhere before 22 hours

we just received our envelope from Magic Express with the vouchers. It makes the trip seem so much closer!

I also ordered my dad's birthday cake yesterday. We will be dining at the California Grill and the woman who helped my couldn't have been more helpful. 34 more days!!!

We received ours earlier this week! I bet yours will be in the mail soon!! They usually come around the 30 day mark........if you booked a MYW package!

We have never gone in May before, how is the weather? do I need to bring jeans and long sleeve shirts for the evenings? The weather channel says the averages are highs about 88 and lows about 66. I don't know what Flordia 66 feels like. Colorado 66 is almost shorts weather, almost!

i am sure there are more people on here who can help you with this questions, BUT a good friend of mine lives west of disneyworld and she says they are already wearing tank tops and shorts.

You have to consider the humidity levels. CO 66 is dry so you really feel the 66 temp. FL 66 is humid so it feels more like a CO 72-75., if not warmer. You should need shorts and short sleeves and tanks for your trip. You may want to pack a lite wind breaker if you are cold natured (but, I doubt you will need it). The AIR is different. You will see what I mean when you step off the plane (it is more sauna like).

Has anybody been following the madness at the parks this week? I have been blowing it off attributing it to the fact that Sping break and Easter fell at the same time. However, I just looked at the touring plans as far out as they are posted (through May 10) and they are all 8s and 9s with May 10 being a 9! I am starting to get a lttle concerned since our trip is for May 16-23 and the 23 is the Friday before Memorial Day
I'm afraid that the great deal I got has been seized by a lot of other bargain hunters! There's not a lot I can do now (I have my plan of attack for the parks s made) and I guess I just want someone here to say, "hey, don't worry! be happy It's all good"
