Official May 17th Alaska Cruise Thread!

Thanks nick - can you denote its Meg's 15th birthday cruise? Just so people know its her and not me. We are late dining, but hope to change it, and as everyone knows- NO ROOM NUMBER YET!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!! lol

I think they are waiting because they want to clear out the Roy suite for us!!! ;)

We are going to try for an upgrade at the port. How will we
let everyone know if we have a new cabin?

We are on late dining.

Getting excited as the cruise gets closer.
 
Are there any other single parents/singles on this sailing? There are often some of the adult only stuff I want to attend (like the comedian and stuff) and I never go, because I feel so awkward just going in and sitting down at a show by myself.
I am fairly social, but can be shy at first - I can't walk into a large room of people where everyone is with someone, and just sit down and chat. I am hoping to catch some of these shows this time! Would be nice to have someone to go with!

You will know all of us. My husband is not always interested in attending the same things I am, so perhaps we could go to some of this stuff together. Let's talk at the pre-muster get-together! Remember, you'll be on a ship with lots of people who like the same things you do!!

The DIS meet at the Promenade Lounge would be a great time! :thumbsup2

We can verbally exchange any information that was changed. Then for any cabin who could not make it, I could write down the cabin upgrades/changes at the DIS meet and then place the list of changes in the pocket of our FE Extender? Anyone who wants to know of cabin changes (or add theirs) can then look inside my FE pocket for the list of changes. Does that work? :confused3

Wow, I just put two and two together that you are the one that put the awesome list together on the Vancouver fact thread. That has been awesome to be able to use and learn from. I am so excited that you are on our cruise. I am still trying to make all my plans for our one night in Vancouver, I was hoping for the hop on and off tour bus but it ends early evening so I think we are going to try and get around using public transportation. It sounds like it should be easy but I don't use it here so it will be a learning time. Thanks again for all the info, I may come back and ask you more questions.

Feels soooooooo long ago that I started that now!

If anyone needs ANYTHING while you are in Vancouver, I won't be heading to port until that morning - we live 30 mins away. My cell is 604-614-4913 -feel free to call me. I don't mind at all.
 
Got our paperwork in the mail today. It's now less than a month before departure and we still don't have a hotel room for Vancouver.

Hi Everyone!

Let's chat about brunch! :cool1:

I know some of you have already booked brunch. (Lucky you!) This invitation is for you, as well as those who have not.

DH and I REALLY want to do Palo Brunch, however, since we booked late, there are of course absolutely no reservations available.

When we cruised on the Wonder in November, a fellow DIS member had organized a group and booked the private dining room at Palo for brunch. It was gorgeous, wonderful, incredible service, and one of the highlights of our 4 days. We also got to meet some fun DISers!

I called DCL to inquire about how to arrange this. I was told that we needed to have a group of 12 people who wanted to eat brunch, collect their names and reservation numbers, and then submit the request via fax. If available for any day, they would then book us the room.

So.... anyone want to get together as a group and have brunch in the private room at Palo? I will arrange all the details and to the "legwork" in booking it. I *believe* if you already have a reservation for brunch it can just be moved to be part of the group - but I will call tomorrow to confirm that if it applies to anyone.

Thanks for considering a group brunch in the private Palo room. It could be a lot of fun!

I am game for anything like that - I do know that someone added me as a 3rd today and we have the coveted 'during tracy arm' spot - the view should be incredible, so not sure that is a spot people would be willing to give up!

I notice the IGT are now sold out on our cruise -I bet I see a stateroom number tomorrow! Only 10A left, then outside and verandah and suite - but inside is going faster now...
