*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

It looks like I spoke to soon about our trip dates. We are no longer going in June.

:welcome: MrsK53113, DylHayd, PinkBudgie, KStover, mjmartin01, mama23babies, rjeash, turkey1031, Belleofhteball, sugarbobbin, lauralarissa, GoofyMB! :wave2:

The list is updated! (Woohoo!) Once Labor Day hit, dance was in full-swing. My DD is in 6 classes, 2 competition team practices, plus school and whatnot. I also take a dance class, which means that twice a week we don't get home until after 8 or 8:30. (The third night of dance, we're home a little after 6...) Girl Scouts should be starting, plus she's in an afterschool Science Club that meets every other week. Went to the beach for one weekend, have to grade papers and do lesson plans...and...and...and...:faint:

In short...we're busy! And I've been up since 4 this morning (and now it's 10!)

So...good night, everybody! I'll check in again (and maybe get some comments in!) on Wednesday! :hippie:

This wait feels like it is taking forever.

Oh and then some! This is the longest we are ever going between two trips and it really feels like an eternity!! If we can just get those park hours promptly when they are due it would give me something constructive to do .....

We're inpixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Still in the planning stage at this point.

If all goes well, we'll will fly out @3:00 on June 26 (last day of school here:cool1:) and stay until July 7(the day before summer school starts:faint:).

Not sure about th resort yet~Pop, AOA or rent DVC points.

Can we talk about the nuts and bolts of going in June? Now that I know where we are staying (POFQ)

1) I'm concentrating on where to eat. Do we need to know all this by December? I'm wondering how long I have to figure this out. And it seems that would mean we have to have an idea of what park we are doing on which day and when we are seeing shows. We are getting park hoppers, but still need a general idea.

2) How do you deal with the heat and humidity? Any tips? I can handle hot, it gets hot here and at DLR. It is the humidity that just makes it worse. Anything we should bring or do to help? I want to know that we aren't crazy going in June and we will have fun. ;)

This will be our 3rd June trip. June is great because there are longer park hours so we like to be at our chosen park of the day for rope drop, do all our must do attractions and then we head to our resort for a swim or nap. Then we go back out in the evening when it is slightly cooler.

I don't know if the new credit card reservations will affect table seating but if you want to eat at the more popular places, you'll need to make reservations as soon as possible when the 180 day window opens.

As for heat and humidity, know going in that it will be that way. Wear light-weight clothing and drink plenty of water. I myself make sure I have body glide available to prevent chaffing. I'm not one to wear shorts much at home but at Florida in June, it's almost a must.

I'm sure others with more expertise than I will offer more tips.

Well, that's encouraging if you are going in June for the third time. About what time do you head back for an afternoon rest? Have you ever come back too early before your room has been made? At DLR I hate heading back to the room ready for a nap, and the maid hasn't come yet. I don't want to put up the do not disturb sign or we won't get new towels that we always need.

Where are you staying? It's always possible, but probably less likely than at DLR. The size of WDW and amount of time it takes to get from A to B means it is less common to be done for the morning with a park before noon or thereabouts, even if you are planning a break to return later.

I believe you can also contact your front desk if you are staying onsite and request that the room is serviced/not serviced earlier or later in the day. They tend to work on a schedule when servicing rooms so within the first day or so you will have an idea of more or less what time your room is cleaned and give or take, we have found it to be fairly predictable to within around an hour

We usually leave the park sometime between 1100-1300. Most of the time, the room was done. If not, we'd go grab a snack or change quick and go nap by the pool. We definitely do not get everything done either. During the planning stage at home, everyone gets to pick two must-do's (dining place, show or attraction) and we make sure we hit all those, then everything else we consider a bonus. :) Weird I know but it works for us. :upsidedow

We are staying at POFQ. If we do like at DLR, we would be ready for a break around 1 or 2 pm.

We will have some priorities too. And some rides, like Soarin, can be skipped if need be to try some new things. (don't even know what park Soarin is in but, I'm sure wherever it is, there will be new things to try.) I almost could say to skip TSMM, but I want to see what the queue looks like. :)

So, still planning our trip for next year, but it looks like I'm about to be furloughed. :sad1::scared: And we've been told to plan for 4 weeks. My DD is starting to freak out and so is my poor mother. I "think" everything is going to be okay, but who knows?? I'm a single mom, so it is scary. My DD did ask if this was going to affect our trip, and so far I've told her "no, I promise." I hope I can keep that promise. Just thought I'd share. Things seem to be easier when you can share your troubles.

How is the first week of June? My kids get out of school on May 30, and we will leave the following morning, driving from Chicago. This is our first June trip, we've always gone Nov./Dec. so I know it will be hotter and more crowded, but how bad the first week?

Name:
Jennifer
Travel Dates (if known):
June 1-10 2014
Where Will You Be Staying?:
June 1-4th we will be staying offsite. Right now I think it will be the Best Western in DTD. Then on the 4th - 10th we will be at Villas Wilderness Lodge
Travel Party:
Myself (Jennifer) DH - Ian, and our two DDs Kylie and Emily. Ian's sister Gwen DH Mike and two sons Michael and Charlie will also be with us
Current Location:
We live just outside of Dallas, Texas and DSIL and family lives outside of Albuquerque New Mexico
Favorite Disney Character:
Mine is Mickey!
Favorite Disney Movie:
An oldie not many people are familiar with - Summer Magic
How Many Trips?:
lost count - has to be close to 20
On-Site or Off?:
this trip both - normally all onsite (DVC)
Best Disney Story:
Outside of Ice Station Cool (is that what it used to be called?) We were leaving when 2 "cave men" walked up to us and proceeded to talk to our oldest daughter. Her hair was back in a ponytail. She has LOTS of hair and in the Florida humidity it was pretty wild. They proceeded to talk to her about her hair, touching it and then finally acted as if their hands were stuck in her hair and it was eating their hands. It was hysterical!
What do you look forward to most on your next trip?
Seeing Disney through the eyes of our family who has not been there that often.

We usually always go the first part of June. I don't think it is bad at all. As the days go by you will notice more and more people. It will be pretty hot and very humid. Plan on taking that afternoon break during the heat of the day. Drink lots of water, be patient and be prepared for an afternoon rain shower nearly every day.

Thanks! I think we can deal with the heat, with breaks, of course. I was curious about the crowds. I know we are earlier to get out of school than a lot of places. My son has Autism as well, so with the new policies I don't know how it'll all work. Hopefully by June it'll be ironed out somewhat. With longer park hours in the summer I think we will make it work. We just wanna go!

One of our nephews who is going also has autism. He is 20 - so we aren't sure how it will all play out as well. I am hoping that maybe using the magic bands and fast pass + will help with the lines on the rides that are most important for him.

Change of plans for us. Dsil called this morning - she was laid off yesterday. :( So she and her family will not be able to join us.

My family is still going - changed our dates (added 3 days) So we will be at VWL from June 1st-11th.

Bummer to all of those who have gotten furloughed or laid off in the past couple of weeks. Are plans are still on currently but our traveling companion list is shrinking by the day. Our cousins won't be able to join us due to the husband being deployed but on the flip side of that they may give us their DVC points to use. We are also looking into staying off site for the first time in three trips. We love being *in* Disney but the cost is pretty high when you factor in the group we have. We realize we will lose some perks, but we also will try doing dining OOP and seeing how that comes out. I think we might come out ahead on that. We are looking at WBC since we can get a 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo that sleeps 8 for a pretty decent price if we don't get the DVC points. Probably will get tickets through UT if we go that route as well. Again, with the group we have plus staying off site we will drive there instead of flying. WBC is near DTD so we should have a pretty simple drive to the parks. Going to try some new dining options this time plus some old favorites I think. Probably breaking some tradition and getting park hoppers as well. Looking at 6 total days in the parks. 2 days at MK, a day and a half at DHS and EP and a day at AK. A full day at DHS will be to hit up SWW and a half will be to catch up on things we missed. We will try to do EP with one day on Future World and a second day on World Showcase. We may hop from AK back to MK if we are feeling up to it.

All in all looking forward to it.

Planning a graduation trip for DDprincess: As she is the honoree, she picks the hotel: AoA Little Mermaid, Ariel bldg! (Of course ;)) The rest of the family is me, DH, DD20, DD16, DS8; we will be getting 2 rooms. Thought about a suite but they're SO $$$$! Last trip was June as well, 2011. :)memories! We live about an hour from the Magical Gates. We have taken 5 family WDW trips (all on-site except the 1st). DH & I have been many times as kids, back when it was "almost" affordable for a family to go for a day trip. Now we only go for extended trips due to the high cost of tickets (it's so cool how park tickets get cheaper the longer you stay :yay:) Would love to convert to AP's but our oldest DD is one of the biggest DisNerds in our family and is away at college in...(drum roll please)..Alabama (only she goes to UAB, studying Materials Engineering) and we would feel guilty going without her. We're planning on about 5/30 thru 6/8 or so. Not booked yet, waiting for final grad plans!:hourglass
