*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

Just switched our summer vacation from July to June due to another family trip. We are going to Disney June 18- 24 staying at AKL (our favorite). Can't wait for park hours to come out so I can get planning.

Hmm.....aren't you usually the one who starts these June threads? :scratchin What took you so long to find us?? :wave2: (Don't leave us this year! No more changes to your dates! :joker:)

I ran the June thread the summer of 2011 and ran the July thread for 2012 and 2013. We just switched our dates this morning to July. We have had a lot of family changes in the past year (my mom passed away suddenly in a March...we were extremely close) so when the rest of the family decided on a July beach trip, we felt like we really needed to be with family (we are going with my only sibling and his wife, my aunt (mom's sister) and uncle and my cousin (son's godmother). So, no no more changes to our trip. June for Disney it is.

I believe mom (eeyore344) and I were with you for the 2011 thread...seems like you started in June in one of those, then swapped to July... So sorry for your loss. Our June 2012 trip was rough to an extent because my grandparents' health was declining -- my grandfather's worse than my grandmother's. We came back to have another couple of weekends before Granddad passed. Granny is still hanging in there, but we always have that worry of what if something happens while we're gone?

I'd go to the beach, too (as long as I can still work in my Disney trip...). (Love the beach...summer just doesn't feel complete without at least a daytrip to the beach...which can wind up anywhere from St. George's Island to Pensacola (although we're about 2 hours away from Panama City, which means you think we'd go more often, wouldn't you?)

I might have had to change dates at one point. Don't remember anymore....everything runs together :confused3 but we are definitely going in June this year. :thumbsup2

Yeah, a couple years ago my grandmother passed away two weeks before out trip so I wasn't sure what was going to happen, but when the funeral was over, my family told us there was nothing we could do now and that she would have wanted us to go. It's been a tough few years. My family has lost both grandparents, my mom and my stepdad.

Here's to hoping that your family says in good health. :goodvibes

Our trip is now up in the air. It was originally planned to be a big multi-celebration trip with lots of friends and family and one by one they have all backed out on it. Now I'm taking on a new job and the finances might not be there for our portion of it. We can't do August again because of school so it's possible we may push it out until Thanksgiving again or to 2015. 2015 is already booked up with a ton of stuff though so that might not work either.

I'm still wanting to go, but just need to figure out how to make it happen or even if it should.

Sharing!

So yesterday I booked our stay at BLT for the first part of our trip.:yay:

So, now we can get to WDW (got flights from ABQ to MCO), and we have some place to stay for 12 nights (BLT/AKV). Just waiting now for SW to open the next round of flights sometime in December so that we can return home after what I'm sure will be a wonderful vacation.:goodvibes

My countdown is says it's still 210 days until we leave, but since it started out at almost 300 I'm happy. :goodvibes

Yay. Now lets just hope they have this FP+ straightened out by June!

I'm kinda hiding my head in the sand on this one. I was really interested for awhile, and all the negative comments, etc turned me off. I think I'll wait and see what happens. popcorn:: 7 months is a long time to get the kinks worked out of things. At least I hope so. :confused3

We just got back from an October trip and we had a very positive experience with the magic bands. Everything worked for us from our room, to fast pass +, dining plan, park entry. We thought it was nice to have everything in one place and not have to worry about carrying cards and pulling cards out each time. I know that others have had issues with it, but I didn't think it was that bad. The only thing I wish is that more fast passes were available rather than just three at one park, but what can you do? They did work well for us and it was nice to not have to run to get fast passes for major attractions. Guess we will see when the full roll out happens.

That is great news!

Hey, I remember anjalee and eyeore344 from the June 2011 thread! That was our last Disney vacation! 7 days at ASMo with free dining!! No hope for such discounts this time, DDalmost18 is set on AoA Little Mermaid for her grad trip:-P

:wave2: Hi again! I remember you from 2011 also. Can't wait to plan again.

I'm lagging behind on my planning because I'm waiting for my oldest DD (20 and away at college) to come home. She is my co-Disney addict! Last trip, they were all too caught up in their own teenage stuff to contribute, and DH has always been the "just tell me where I need to be" kind of planner, so he's no fun:laughing:. DD20 will be home for the first school break at Thanksgiving; she has the whole week off and we have booked our Cocoa Beach timeshare so we can all hang together :grouphug:By then, there should be park hours out for June, right? and we can pin down what ADR's we need in prep for the Dec. 180+ mark:woohoo:

Sounds like a fun Thanksgiving break! I haven't really planned much either. We loosely picked out our ADRs, but that is about it. Yeah, park hours should be out soon for June. I really want to be able to decide which parks we are going to so it will be nice to see the hours.

Yeah! Just booked our vacation for June!! I have a question about MDE. I linked my confirmation # in MDE. It shows my resort reservation now but does not show anything under tickets. Do I need to do something else for my tickets to show up? Or does Disney mail me an info packet?

Well it's official, our trip is cancelled. After much debate my wife and I decided to push out our trip to 2015. There's a slim chance we could do Thanksgiving week in 2014, but it's not real likely.

When everyone else cancelled we started looking at it closer and while SWW was enticing, the cost for a June trip versus other parts of the year are pretty insane. I'm also changing jobs which will affect our budget and we may just not be able to afford it.

I tried to talk my wife into going without the kids, but she wasn't having anything of it and switched gears completely and said that she really wanted to take a trip just the two of us to a place where we can relax. Almost all of our vacations are "doing" vacations and we get back more tired than when we left. She's kind of wanting to find a beach/pool where we can have cocktails delivered and just relax.

I'm kind of bummed because we have *so* much fun when we are at Disney, but at the same time I'm kind of looking forward to something different and it'll give some time to see how some of this MyMagic+ stuff shakes out. By the time we're ready to go touring plans and strategies will be updated and we won't be the guinea pigs for it.

Good luck to everyone planning their trips. I hope you get all the pixie dust you need for ADRs and FP+ and travel. I may poke back in here next June to see pictures from your trips!

Closer to your departure time you should get a MB linked to your account and you'll be able to book your FP+ times through that. 60 days is the booking time so expect to see more about that 2-3 months prior to your trip, otherwise that area will remain blank.

You'll also get Mickey Mail about 35 days prior to your trip and your MBs will be shipped to you as well after you've picked the colors and added the names to them.

Park hours and EMH are a must for planning. Can't do ADRs without knowing where we will be! Also trying to decide if hoppers are worth it. Last trip we skipped them and just returned to the same park after the afternoon break (this led to our family park time record of making rope drop at MK and then closing the park after EMH at 2 am). The trip before we hopped everyday! Decisions, decisions...but planning is such fun :-D
