*****Official (??) June 2014 Thread -- Party Like It's Hot!*****

We just booked our first EVER trip to WDW! :cool1:
June 18- July 1 at POFQ

After 5 years of planning, now only 280 days! :rotfl2: Just DH and I for our 25th anniversary. Our college age boys are staying home this trip. ;)

Still need to book flights and figure out where we are eating and when (still mystified how you can know this 6 months out, but I guess I'll figure it out)

Anyway, I'll be looking for lots of tips about going in June. We are both teachers so summer was the only time we could get away for two weeks. We are leaving two days after DH finishes school. If I could pick any time, I'd pick November. But that's not a choice, so I'm going need tips about dealing with the humidity. It can get hot where we live but not humid.

Hi guys

I'm one of the June guests with divided loyalties as our stay spills over into July but after booking flights and canceling for a better price a few times our dates are now fixed:

2Tiggies = Me and my DD who will be 12 by then, staying at POFQ from June 19th to July 7th :) Sooooooo excited!! 275 days to go - tick tock!!

Hi everyone!

This will be our first time visiting in June. We have always gone in November/December, but it is too hard now to take our kids out of school, so we're trying so etching new, Our plan is to arrive on June 1st, but nothing is set yet. We are driving from Chicago, as we did for our last trip. Just wanted to get a feel for what the parks will be like. I know the weather will be much warmer, but how bad is it? And what are the crowds like?

Thanks!

Debbie

We'll be there from June 19th. We adore POFQ and are going to be staying there for our fourth time next year :cool1: We might see you there. I'll have my Disboards sign on my backpack and my pics are in my siggie so say hi if you see us :)

Okay, I knew that I could come here for support since you guys are all in pretty much the same countdown time zone as me ....

I am driving everyone around me NUTS waiting for these park hours to come out and it just feels like forever until ours will be released! I can't plan much more without the hours so I'm using this past June/July's hours as a rough guide, but with all the recent and upcoming changes, I am wondering if I'm just wasting my time with that strategy. Anyone else feeling a bit :hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper: like I am? :rotfl:

Best Disney Story: My senior year in high school (1994) our band went to WDW for Spring Break to participate in the Magic Music Days. While in line for the Skyway, to get across the park to Tomorrowland, my friends and I were looking for cute boys. Ahead in the line, I saw this guy with the most muscular calves I have ever seen. After pointing him and the guy he was with out to the group, we noticed the ball cap the first one was wearing. It was a black cap, and on the front was a white Texas state shape with a green dragon coming out of it. One of my friend's yelled at them to get their attention. Once she had it, she asked if they were from Southlake. When they said yes, she asked if they were from Southlake, Texas. Before they could even answer her question, I slapped her on the arm and said something like, "of course they're from Southlake, Texas. If they weren't, there wouldn't be a Texas shape, and "Texas State AAA champs" on the hat." My group of friends had to split up into two buckets to get across the park. When we got off at Tomorrowland, the two guys were waiting for us. Our high schools played each other in football. Also, my cousin went to their school, and he remembered me talking to my cousin at band competitions. The guy with the great calves and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary this Summer and we have two boys, ages 15 and 14.
What do you look forward to most on your next trip?: I am looking forward to my first girls only WDW trip!! Also, finally getting to meet several DIS friends in person.

Also, I don't know if you have made one or not, but do you plan on making a FB group for the June 2014 people. We've had them for my last couple of trips, and they are so much fun!!

It's not 100% official, but my parents already agreed that they would send me as my graduation gift from my MA program.

Howdy all! Just got back from the World on Friday and we're already planning for June of 2014. This was to be our "next" trip after our trip last November. We weren't planning on coming this year at all but we managed to find some great deals on flights and the stars aligned and we had a blast last week and can't wait to come back.

We're tentatively planning the first weekend in June, right after school lets out, in time for Star Wars Weekends (hopefully), to have a large celebration trip with lots of friends and family. It turns out we have a number of friends and family that are celebrating birthdays and anniversaries during June, so we thought it would be a great way to get everyone together. We'll likely stay at one of the value resorts but a lot of the planning is yet to be determined and may depend on where others in our group stay. Considering that we'd like to get as many people together as possible we may stay at one of the All Star resorts for the first time or possibly back at Pop, where we stayed in 2010. We love AoA but fear that the cost may be too much for some if they choose to stay in the suites, which are much nicer than the LM rooms we discovered.

It's still in the very early stages of planning but if anyone has tips on managing a large group of 10-20 people let me know!

Our trip is starting to come together a bit as the 180+10 day mark is rapidly approaching and as I pressed some people for confirmations some dropped out. A few haven't responded and I'm assuming they won't be joining us. Right now it's our group of 5 (my wife and I, our two kids and our friend) plus another friend that will be there the entire week. My mom and my in-laws will be joining us towards the end of the week and my wife's cousins will likely be coming as well. Provided that this group continues as is we'll probably be at Pop in a Standard room. It's not my first choice, but it's the cheapest we can do without really compromising too much. If one of our friends drops we will likely go back to an AoA suite. I was considering an ASMo suite but hearing of the sleeping arrangements I decided against it.

We're probably driving instead of flying as well. We don't really want to lose part of the trip time to travel, but we'll probably be bringing more stuff than normal due to the number of people traveling with us.

Still hoping to catch some SWW activity but have heard some horror stories about the crowds, so we may not hang out there long. Looks like for now our dates are 6/7-6/14. We'll leave to get there on 6/6 and get home on 6/15.

WOO HOO!! Another Texan!! I don't know if you've done the drive before, but it's really not bad from our area. We drove last June and just got back this month from driving there. The only part I really hated this last time was around the FL/AL border until just before Mobile. We drove through that part at night and we saw at least 10 deer just standing on the edge of the road, 2 of them in the middle grassy area. The hubby and I were so scared one would go to cross the road right before we got to them.

Just wanted to take a quick moment to let you all know that I'm still here -- it has just been BUSY! I will get in and get our list updated and an official Welcome to all our new people this weekend for sure! :thumbsup2

I have officially booked our split trip to US and WDW for May 31-June 7. I am super excited! Been checking the dis boards every day! I am curious if anyone on here has been in June before. If so, when do you schedule your flights? Thanks for your help!

Travel Dates (if known): End of June – through 4th of July
Where Will You Be Staying?: Not sure yet– Staying DVC
Travel Party: Will be traveling with my Girlfriends family. One of her sisters is a DVC Member and gets the rooms for all of us in the group. My girlfriend is not as into Disney as I am and hasn’t been very involved/interested in the planning. She doesn’t yet know the dates or resort they are looking at but thinks they want to be there for her nephews birthday June 24th and her brother in law wants to definitely be there for the 4th of July.
Current Location: MA
Favorite Disney Character: Goofy
Favorite Disney Movie: So many to choose from… we watch a Disney movie with our son almost every night. I think right now I will go with Finding Nemo (but I reserve the right to change that at any time :rotfl2:)
How Many Trips?: Six (1976, 1993, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2012)
On-Site or Off?: 3 on & 3 off
Best Disney Story: When I went in 2006 with my family my daughter went to BBB and got the Princess make-over and going from there to the Princess lunch at Akershus. This was during the year of a Million Dreams and also happened to be during Soap Opera Weekend. When the bus arrived from DTD at Epcot they rolled up to a red carpet with photographers and made an announcement and asked every one to remain seated because there was a VIP Guest. We assumed there was one of the Soap Opera Stars there at the time. Well they come to the bus and escort “the Princess off the bus”, present her with flowers and a balloon and take her picture and walk her down the red carpet. She totally felt like a princess.
What do you look forward to most on your next trip? We will be there with about 20 family members. They are all from Ohio with the exception of my girlfriend, myself and our son. So the thing I am most looking forward to is being able to go off on my own and do some of the things I want to do. Usually when I go it is all about the kids. So it is nice that my girlfriend who isn’t as into Disney can spend time with her sisters and I can do things I normally don’t get to do.
