***** Official * July 2017 * thread! *****

Hi! Loving this thread. Is it to late for an add? We are coming down for (our shortest ever trip ) July 7-11. Making final decision about resorts by the weekend. (It's a "budget" trip & we are deciding between 4 days deluxe with 2 days at AK, or 4 days value with one day at each park.)

We were just recently in Disneyworld at CS for 7 days in November; though in the past only attended bi-annualy. We also just took our first Disney cruise a month ago, so this is the year of the mouse for us... and part of the reason for the "budget" summer trip. lol (The other reason is that we have our 1st Universal trip planned for November, so need to save some $ for that too.)

Reading this thread for details about weather in July. We've only visited in November, December, & March. Rarely had rain & our temps were awesome. All our previous visits were high-crowds so that is not as much of a concern.

Thanks in advance!

I am concerned about the combination of high crowds and high temperatures. My husband and I did a weekend trip at a value and it was great. Honestly had so little time there AS Movies was fine. Whatever you choose will be great.

I know. On all our trips, we've tried to squeeze so much in at the parks we barely know which resort we're staying in. That's why we decided IF we do deluxe we need to limit park days & actually spend time at the resort. lol. But it is also tempting to do a sampling of each park. Budget doesn't allow both this time. lol. We'll definitely be deciding soon before our fastpass window!

Curious question - what do you mean, how do you upgrade fastpasses?

I started with 3 day tickets. Originally it was just me and my daughter going did not know how many days we would need. I added my 15 year old son. So I upgraded to 5 day tickets

Was it difficult? did you have to call? I bought 5 day tickets and I want to add another day. I was thinking I'd do that when we got there but I can't book FP's for all 6 days without 6 day tickets!

My best-friend (24), my little sister (9) and I are going June 27- July 9th! We are staying at POP. I am honestly freaking out about being in WDW over the 4th! I have never been at such a busy time. Also, any tips or tricks for Disney in July? Also, any packing suggestions!

There are lots of great tips in this thread but my possible favorite is - you're going to need to do laundry. Your clothes are going to get sweaty, even if you pack a ton, you'll need to wash just so your room doesn't smell like a locker room! Bring foot spray and spray your feet before going to the parks and spray your shoes when you get back!

It is simple now that the free dining fiasco is over. If my son were not going I would have waited and not worried about fastpasses but he loves the popular rides

Agree about laundry. I always do at least one load

It's offcial! We are booked = check in July 7- check out July 11 at POP. First time at a value resort. First time in July. First time without dining plan. First time coming for a short trip. And first time booking "last minute."
But just as excited as any previous trip!!! :yay:

Booked a semi last minute trip for two nights in July, and not sure who's more excited, me or the kids! No parks this trip except a day at Blizzard Beach. The rest of the time we plan on just enjoying our favorite resort, POR. With the summer heat I forsee a lot of pool time this trip. We'll be at POR 7/10 - 7/12

Those that have been in Orlando in July- what time of day does the average daily rain come through? (Imagine a crystal ball emoji here. lol) I keep reading that humidity builds up and results in rain most afternoons in Orlando in July. I'd like to avoid scheduling outdoor FPs in the peak risk time for rain.

We are NOT a rope drop family so it makes it a bit more challenging. We all get up early for work/school so usually sleep in until 9 on vacation. Thinking we should plan indoor meals & activities during the hotest part of the day but I also want to avoid running around in an afternoon storm. Planing on staying in parks until close.

Anyone want to share their (non-rope-drop) strategy?

Or weather experience with July in Orlando?

Haven't lived there in years, but I grew up in Orlando. The sea breezes usually build up and collide over central florida in mid afternoon. Storms can be a typical part of the afternoon between 3-5pm. They usually build fast and move through quickly. I know the area is in drought right now so I hope the afternoon storms do start up this summer. I lived through the brushfire season of 1998 there and would hate to see that repeat. Don't worry too much about the storms ruining the afternoon at a park. Just wait them out in a safe spot and then get back to your activities. We don't usually rope drop either. We also don't expect to do and see everything in the park each day. We usually visit WDW in the fall when it's cooler, so I'm dreading the oppressive July heat and humidity for this trip. But any day at Disney is better than the routine at home! Enjoy your trip!

Last summer it rained almost every day. Some days were a quick 1 hour shower, others the entire afternoon had downpours, thunder and lightening.
We are a rope drop family, or are most days. We did enjoy the days when we slept in, went to the pool and headed to the parks around 4ish. On our MK evening like that we were able to get many FPs after our first 3, I think we finished the night with having used 8. The CM's were all so funnily excited for us.
I'm not sure where you live but for us from CT, the hottest part of the day was all day. We were dripping just standing waiting for RD at 8am. So humid and 88 at 8am and humid and 93 at noon don't feel that very different to me!

Our fastpass window opened a day early for our July 1st arrival. It is supposed to open tomorrow but I checked today and I was able to make all my fastpasses. Everything that I wanted was available. :) It looks like we are going to Animal Kingdom twice on this trip in order to get fastpasses for the two new rides. I have a feeling that AK will be busy this trip. :)

Since folks had asked for my feedback about my experience -
I finished my FP+s this AM. I got all of the attractions we wanted at most of the times we wanted. I started with AK and had a hard time getting Dinosaur and Kali for the times I wanted. There were tons of time slots open for Pandora. I did not expect the troubles I had with Dinosaur and Kali. I monkeyed around for a while and got Dinosaur right but Kali I will have to check back later. I am also not happy with my DHS times for 4th of July night. We have the dessert party and was trying to get TOT and TSMM before that. Right now I have TSMMM but I couldn't get TOT. MK and Epcot were super easy. I got the exact times I wanted for those 2 parks.

I had trouble with AK - I was surprised to see so few Dinosaur slots available!
