~~*Official July 2013 Thread!*~~Our Month has Arrived!

Welcome to all joining the July board. :yay:

To All - Have a Great Holiday Weekend.

:offtopic: My Banker friend, wife and his 2 daughters (In the same class as Midori) just purchased a 60 foot RV. WOW!!! what a site to see. We are invited to go camping with them this weekend. Can't pass up the invitation. Jim asked if I would help him :drive: the RV. ????? I told him - do not mind helping on open road. To big to maneuver through towns and camping sites / parks.

OK, here's the plan......when you take over driving and Jim closes his eyes for a nap, head straight for Fort Wilderness!!!! :rotfl2:

Received an email notice about your posting, and had to log back in to reply. WOW!!!! I like that idea, It's open road and I did agree to that..:rotfl2:

Won't they be shocked, surprised, devastated and maybe if I am lucky if Jim doesn't lose it - they could be very happy.

Congratulations!! A fourth trip wouldn't be so bad would it?? :)

Question for all the experienced July vacationers... How packed are the parks really? Can you compare the crowd level to any other time of year?
I have been in April (school vacation week), end of May/first week of June, end of March, and November (Veteran's Day/week before Thanksgiving)
The most crowded I have ever witnessed was the last day of our November trip. Everyone was arriving for Thanksgiving and we were leaving the next day. It took close to 2 hours to get on the monorail back to parking lot. It was a little overwhelming. The rest of the week was awesome and small crowds then BAM! So I'm just trying to prepare myself for what kind of crowds to expect. :confused3

DIsneyFam, I have never been in July either, and I have always traveled in the timeframes you mentioned you have been there! I wonder how bad this is going to be too. My Aunt has lived in Orlando for 30 years and told me she would NEVER go to Disney in July or August. She always goes with me to the parks ( mostly Epcot, thats her favorite) when I go to Orlando, but told me she loves me to death but is NOT going near Disney when I get there. I found that to be a little discouraging, but we will perservere!

Now you're scaring me!:scared1: We went the first part of June and thought it was bad. Other than that, we have gone at off times.

Oh, I think instead of waiting for the monorail back to the parking lot for 2 hrs you can take the ferry over. Might be quicker.

We found that the busiest time we ever found at Disney was when Easter week was also the same week as Spring Break! We have been during Thanksgiving Week, 2nd week in December, July, and several other times (26 in all). It was so crazy this Spring Break last week of March with Easter right there to the point it was not really enjoyable with the crowds. At Universal Harry Potter area was closed to any more people by 11am each day. Was thankful we spent one night on site at Universal to be able to enter early and enjoyed the "unlimited fast passes" for rides.

Have a wonderful time. We really enjoyed going in July even though the heat is pretty intense. I think my favorite time of the year to go to Disneyworld is during Thanksgiving/ early December. I may look at Sept for our next trip tho as I heard crowd levels are lower.

Yep the ferry was just as bad.:crazy2:

SMWFamily... your aunt not even wanting to go kinda freaks me out. But c'mon people keep going back in July, even if they have a choice to go at other times of the year. The more the merrier, right?:lmao:
I'm preparing mentally for the worse and hoping to be pleasantly surprised. We will be there extra days too! We plan on taking our time, getting at the parks for rope drop or soon after, and heading back later in the day after dinner or for dinner.

Nancy... I have never been to any park that closed because of reaching capacity. Has that ever happened in July?

I will be traveling with my dh, dd turning 7 on the trip, ds 2, my mom, and dad. We booked this trip in February. We were getting slammed with another snow storm. My mom called that night to tell me SW was having an amazing sale. We got roundtrip air for $160. My sister just bought a condo so we can stay with her for a few days, check into timeshare, then stay with sister again for a couple days at the end of our trip. We will be touring with my sister, bil (when not working), and nephews and parents. We haven't all been to Disney together since 2007. :dance3:
Can anyone guess who my sister is??? she's on this thread

I'm a little late in joining but have done some stalking... :wave2:

DD9 & I are doing a mother/daughter trip arriving 7/06. As a family we have been in May & June. First July trip. Know it will be hot but wondering about crowds the week after the 4th. Calendars show 8-9 for our week. Guess we'll just plan to take it easy and go with the flow. Hoping for a great trip with lots of memories!

I was in Epcot New Years Eve and in the Magic Kingdom New Years Day this year, I figured if I can live through that July can't be any worse! :rotfl2:

A quick follow up to answer my own question from a few days ago about finding light up toys. I found a bunch of one time use glow toys for $1 each at Target in the back of the store between the grilling/outdoor stuff & electronics. Also found a couple glow bracelets in red, white, & blue in the Dollar Spot (we will be there over July 4th).

Also went to a different Walgreens & found all these light up toys for $2.50-$4.00 each. Love the Disney theme ones! The Mile Wazowski has candy, but the others are basic light up toys.

Wow what a great find!!! And what a bonus that they are Disney ones. :)

Hi everyone!!! I haven't read through the whole thread but I am so excited that I am now officially going in July, I couldn't wait to join the group! DH and I have been going pretty much yearly for the past ten years (sometimes more, sometimes less). Our last trip was January. We just bought a house and have a baby on the way so we planned not to return again until summer 2014. But an opportunity came up for me to do a training and I jumped on it! Then Tom will meet me after. We are soooo excited!

I will be at the Contemporary with my training group from July 22-26 and then Tom and I will be at Port Orleans French Quarter from July 26-31.

We've been in July and August many time, including one trip over the 4th of July so we are very prepared for the crowds and heat! My first "group" thread was for our honeymoon in July 2009 and I ended up meeting SOO many DISers on that trip, many who I am still friends with. I look forward to getting to know everyone over the next couple of months and hopefully meeting some of you in the parks. I'll be the one with the big belly!!

That was the only time I have ever been to a park when they closed it due to capacity. To me July was nothing compared to Spring Break/Easter. However I have never been there during Christmas Break either. July was not bad at all other than the heat.
