~~*Official July 2013 Thread!*~~Our Month has Arrived!

I'm flying my nephews out from San Francisco and bringing them to Disney.
They've never been- except for a 1 dayer at Epcot- so they're very excited.
My little grandaughters are 7 and 4 and LOVE my nephews.
We've had them out every summer for the past 11 years for 2 weeks of non-stop fun-so the girls think of them like brothers. :lovestruc They're almost 15 and 13.
The girls don't know about any of it.
Shaelyn is 7 and has lost 3 teeth recently. She looks like a hockey player! LOL
She gave me all her money and asked me to send it to "the boys" so they can come out to visit. ;)
We've been skyping every couple of days and it's been SOO hard not to slip up!!
I can't wait to see Shae and Briella's faces when I get home from picking them up at the airport on Wed. night!
And then on Friday- we're having "the big reveal."" pixiedust:
It's hard to sleep! :rotfl2:

That is super news. I told Lucy and Midori we were meeting you and your family at the pool. I also told them that we might see ya at check in.

The Girls were so excited. Last night we meet Lucy and her Mother (Kathleen) for dinner to go over the final departing plans for next Friday.

Our first day (13th) after we settle down and unpack, we are going to DTD for dinner and shopping and then come back to the resort to swim.

To pass the time... QOTD: What at Disney gives you that truly magical feeling?

Purple road signs.

I am from Mass too, and when it got hot this week...I gave my DD's a big Cheshire grin and told them this will help us get ready for Disney:dance3: even the heatwave made me happy because I felt it helped me to feel closer to our trip and my happy place...again pathetic but true. :lmao:

Yes, Massachusetts Disers are now in training for Florida's tropical weather. Funny thing up until a few days ago, everyday was poncho weather around here. I went to the Dollar Tree last week, and all the ponchos were sold out; our tourists had bought them all up. :rotfl: I'm hoping they restock before our trip.

May pixie dust and fun always last.

Hope all your dreams come true.

Has anyone been on the new Test Track? I am wondering how it compares to the old one.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

9 days woo hoo!! Anyone start having nightmares before their trip? Last night I had a dream that I could not find anything at EPCOT. It was horrible!

I sent my package to AK- Kidani- filled with gifts from Tinkerbell.
It'll be rewards for no melt-downs and getting up early.:cool1:

7 days- less sleep every night!!!!
 :yay:

IMHO, its just okay. Don't get me wrong the car design aspect is really cool but the ride itself is lacking something. We loved the post show area, spent 30 minutes in there playing all the games. My cousin who is 6 absolutely loved old test track on her last visit at 4 but didn't want to do it more then once this past vacation.

Also! They've changed the FP queue so you get to fully design your car! When I rode it in January the design part was limited. This was a very good change by Disney if you ask me.

Our AAA Triptik just arrived in the mail; one word describes the construction outlook along I 95 from CT. to VA UGH!!!!

We had an amazing time, not sure how i can compose it into one post!

1) Our Hotel- We loved staying at POR in a Royal Room. If we stayed at POR again, we would only do a Royal Room (for the great location) or a preferred room. It was absolutely worth the extra money for the royal room. We stayed in Parterre Place closet to the quiet pool and right near the bridge. We loved our location.

2) Food! My family loved the dining plan. I'm still on the fence about it. We ended up with over 15 snacks left on our 2nd to last day! We used them all, but boy was that a lot of eating. We loved going to Ohana for the first time! Our favorite meal. 1900 park fare was fun but service was poor. Chef Mickey's for breakfast was great. We will never be back for dinner. The Fantasmic! dinner package was absolutely worth it. We had the greatest server at Mama Melrose. I will be emailing disney with how happy we were. Wishes dessert party was great for the prefered firework view, especially on July 3rd but desserts were meh. I would only do it during busy times of the year. Service at T-Rex was slow too but still fun.

3) Weather- We knew what we were getting into going in July but I wish i'd packed a raincoat and not a poncho. We had two days of where no ponchos were needed, july 4th & 5th. The temp was actually much cooler then the thought it would be. I had my cardigan on a few times at night. The cardigan was great for the restaurants and buses.

4) Crowds- We managed to do all we wanted despite the crowds and abundance of south american tour groups. Not sure how I feel about the tour groups but I was happy to see that there are actual CMs that deal with them. The CMs were wearing Green polos with the Brazilian flag on it. Whenever the groups got rowdy (especially at Fantasmic!) a CM with this shirt was right there to handle it. I'd never seen these CMs before but that's probably because I've never been in July before.

5)Magical moments- I actually had a wonderful Magical Moment with another guest! While in Epcot on a solo day I was browsing a pin cart near America. I overheard another guest tell her daughter that she couldn't find a monorail pin. When I heard this I offered to trade my hidden mickey monorail pin I traded for earlier that day. The mother didn't have a pin to trade for so i offered to just give it to her (it was her daughter's 5th b-day). The mother refused to just take it so she told me she would buy me a pin of my choice from the cart so we could trade. I tried to refused, and when I wouldn't pick out a pin, she picked out this beautiful mickey & key pin bought it so we could trade. She kept telling me how happy I was making her daughter. In the end it was like we both had a magical moment because her daughter got her monorail pin and I was given a beautiful mickey pin. The mother actually told the CM how happy she was that there are still good people in the world. It really made my day and I'm sure it made there's too.

In spite of the weather, it sounds like a wonderful vacation!:)

Why did you wish you packed raincoats instead of ponchos??
(I'm doing my packing this weekend.) :confused3
I LOVE the part about the pin trading! Very magical!!pixiedust:

Two of our 3 ponchos were ripped down the center by the second day. I wouldn't go out and buy a raincoat if you don't own them though. I have a nice Land's End rain jacket I left home. I thought it would be too hot but now I wish I bought it with me.

OMG! I can't believe i didn't talk about fireworks in the overview post! We were able to see 4 MK firework shows. Wishes twice, once from the GF boat dock and once from Main Street. Then we saw the MK 4th of July show twice, once from the poly beach (A++++) and once from the tomorrowland terrace. Each time was spectacular. I can't even describe how amazing the 4th of July show was, and I've seen the New Years showing of Illuminations (which is amazing in it's own right).pixiedust:

We saw Illuminations from Japan. My new favorite spot! We walked right up the railing 15 minutes before the show and had a perfect view. It was empty since it had been raining earlier while we had dinner at Teppen Edo. This spot was amazing!!!:woohoo:

Lastly- We saw the HS fourth of July show! :smickey: It was really awesome that that they had a band playing american rock music while the fireworks went off 360 around the hat. :rockband: We danced and sang along a lot! I would recommend seeing the MK show the day before the 4th so you can see the HS show. It was absolutely worth it.

We bought Northface rain jackets for the whole family and we use them all the time when we go. Awesome!!!
