*OFFICIAL* July 2010 thread! It Was Hot, It Was Crowded...AND IT WAS AWESOME!!

9 days...single digits!!! :yay::yay::yay::yay:

We did have a major itinerary change. We were planning on driving (18 hours each way), but I found an awesome last minute deal on Southwest. $229 per person, round-trip, nonstop from San Antonio to Orlando. DD was so excited she squealed, which is rare occurrence with my cynical child.

So happy for you!!! That's a great deal.

I can't even imagine driving that far, it's about 13 hours for us and THAT is WAY TOO MUCH!!!

Have a great time.

congrats on the deal!! That is awesome!

we drive. it's a 21 hour drive but we split it and stay at least 1 night most times 2 nights before we get to wdw.

this year (today actually) we aren't going direct but going to va and ga before fl so we won't be in disney until next friday

driving, gas, food and hotels cost half to 2/3 what it would do fly. it takes 2 days but we don't mind as we usually stay 7-10 days at disney anyways

I can usually get great Southwest Airlines deals which makes it just a tad bit more to fly, but at least my DH doesn't have to hear me complain all the way........... "Are we there yet"???

We do have to drive to New Orleans to get the direct SW flight, flying out of Lafayette would cost an arm and a leg!!

And the flight is only 2 hours :thumbsup2

Okay...I'm here too. Only a few more days until we leave for the world...doing laundry and avoiding thinking about the plane ride - I hate flying!! (I suffer through it to get to the happiest place on earth)

I didn't even realize that I should check-in online??? What is the benefit of online check-in.

For us, as family of 3, it's actually less expensive to fly with the deal I got with Southwest. When I ran the numbers for airfare at $300/person, driving was definitely the cheaper option. Not so much, when it's $229/person.

I was actually looking forward to the road trip, but was afraid we'd be exhausted before we even got to Disney. Also, I was NOT looking forward to the drive home.

This is my first trip in 20 years, but based on what I've gathered, online checkin can speed up the process when arriving at the resort. They know approximately when you are coming, therefore, if possible will have your room ready when you arrive.

subbing from Disney. I will go back and read when I get home from our trip! It is too beautiful. We just got back from Stormalong Bay and WOW! We are headed out for our first walk to Epcot from Beach Club Villas!

ok everyone - we're off.

still hard to believe that we're putting ourselves through Disney in July torture but we are.

we'll be at the French Quarter next friday.

Happy trails to everyone.

cheers

Safe travels!!! Enjoy your trip!!

We decided our guest room is going to be decorated with like an AK theme, so we thought staying at AKL and shopping in the gift shop would be a great idea!! I was totally floored (and EXCITED!) that he is actually looking forward to SHOPPING!

Sounds exciting. Maybe I can use this idea to get my DH excited about going to WL. We already live in a log cabin.

I can't imagine driving 21 hours like Kurby. We have to stop part way to make DH happy and it's only 9 1/2.

Leaving in the morning. Wishing everyone safe travel and lots and lots of Pixie Dust.pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Ugh, I can't believe you're all leaving!!! So jealous! I have so many great memories of my trip but how can I really be jealous after I just had an awesome week in WDW but I am!!

Safe trip everyone! Can't wait to hear all about your trips! :thumbsup2

Everyone leaving in a day or so....have a safe trip. We aren't leaving until Tuesday morning...still doing laundry lol! I cannot wait to be at the GF again and relaxing.
