The other option is to stop at Guest Services, they can set up ADRs for the same day, and it can be an ADR at a different park. We have also just done walk ups - we did that at the Biergarten last summer.

Good idea - it might be quicker/easier to do that if I know that day where we want to go. We can just do it as we are going in the park!

I actually think that you would still call WDW-DINE in that situation. Say it's like 1:00 and you want to see if you can get into Tusker House, just call and see if you can get a reservation for like 15 mins later.

A friend of mine, on her last trip, wanted to eat in Mexico and when they went in, they said they didn't have room for lunch. So they walked outside, called WDW-DINE and got a reservation for 10 mins later!

I can't believe how quickly the time is going already -- I really started making my lists of things to do and I'm already thinking, how am I going to get it all done?

We are driving for our first time, so this brings a whole new list of things to do ahead of time. But I'm really excited to drive ... well more so to have our own vehicle and be able to take whatever we want!

At DHS, there is a kiosk right near the time board - it is like a little mini-guest relations, you can do ADRs there - it is a little more convenient than the one by the park entrance. Or, like Nikki said - just call WDW-DINE.

We started driving too and I love it. It is a long way, but you can pack so much more, and leave things like a change of clothes in the car at the park - in case of rain etc. I love being able to take water and soda down. It is also nice to eat off site once in awhile too.

One word of caution. We made the mistake of leaving a 12 pack of soda in the car the first day or two. One night we were coming back from DHS, and we heard a popping noise - as the cans exploded in the back end of the van. Luckily we did not lose too many and it did not create too big of a mess - but it could have.

Thanks for the warning! I definitely don't need soda cans popping all over our SUV!

It was really stupid on our part. We were doing a split stay, so we were trying not to take EVERYTHING into the first resort. We should have thought about it a little bit! Looking back, it was a little funny - pop pop pop pop!!

We are in the Pittsburgh area - so opposite end. We go down I-77 and eventually cut over to I-95 near Charleston, SC. We did it in one day on a return trip once - it was a reallylong trip. We most likely would not do it again. We left Orlando around 6am and got home around midnight-1am. It is a 16 hour drive for us without stops. On the way down we try to make it south on 95 a ways. Then our second day is only about 6 hours. On the way home we try to get north of Charlotte which gives us about 7 hours on the second day.

If you were to stop on your way down, I would recommend Walterboro, SC - it is a nice stop - lots of hotels and restaurants. You could stop there on your way home, but it would give you a longer second day.

We pack sandwiches in the car for the trip down and usually do a McDonalds drive through on the way home with a good dinner when we stop.

I am sorry I can't be of more help. There is usually info on the transportation board about where to stop for different routes. There is also a website for different interstates, and it will sometimes give you hotel options.

Tinkerbel60- thanks for responding. I am an "uber" planner and frequent the 2,000 plus board often!

My daughters (8) typically are happy provided they have food - thank goodness it goes to their feet- so we will have plenty of goodies and sandwiches for the car.

I always used to drive from NJ to Disney for all my family trips. In fact, the first time I went, I was 18 mos old and my sister was 4 and my brave parents drove in the station wagon!

The first time we flew was probably our 7th trip and only because we were going with my dad's whole side of the family.

I have such great memories of driving down. As much as we "hated" it at the time, I think back and laugh at everything I remember.

*There was always Twizzlers, Pringles and Gatorade.
*At some point, my mom would give each of us a turn in the front seat.
*My sister and I would fight in the backseat and my dad would yell at us and we would just giggle and giggle!
*I always sat on the left, my sister on the right.
*My dad hated to stop so I would wait until the last possible minute to tell him I had to go to the bathroom, at which point he would tell me we'll stop in 20 mins!
*Getting out of the car after hours of driving and feeling how much warmer it was than the last stop.
*I always had the AAA maps in my lap, looking at the exit signs and following our journey through each state.
*We always counted the South of the Border signs.
*My sister and I had our landmarks that we always spotted when we knew we were close...like the WOFL building (radio station, I think). We called it, "Waffle!"

Oh, I could probably go on and on....I look forward to doing that again with my future family! Except, it'll probably be me in the driver's seat yelling at the kids to be quiet in the back!

What great memories!! That is another "advantage" to driving, like you said - you hated it at the time, but look at the fun things you have to remember!
It is great to feel it get warmer the whole way there - especially in March/April!

We probably never would have started driving, but a few years ago, we had a very last minute chance to go over spring break. Literally, we decided to go on Saturday morning at 10am, I hurried to do laundry, arrange the kennel for the dog, pack and locked up the house - and were on our way at 3:20 pm. Being forced to drive, we realized it was not so bad - and for a family of 4 - a lot cheaper than flying.

If I were you, I would probably choose the Mickey meal - only because Askerhaus is already a princess meal. I really liked the character interaction over at the Beach Club - we did a Cape May breakfast - the characters wear their swim suits - it was very cute!

I don't blame you for wanting to eat in the castle - it is soooo cool!! I am glad we ate there before it became a fixed price menu.

Minnie was at the Cape May breakfast and Chef Mickeys when we ate there a few years ago. I just checked All Ears and she is no longer listed at Chef Mickeys - I thought I had heard that. You might want to post the question over on the restaurant board so that someone who has been there recently might answer. She is still listed at Cape May!
