  • Okay I need to STOP changing my ADRs!!! I dumped Chef Mickey on the 13th for Whispering Canyon Cafe at 5:30. Then I added LeCellier at 2:40 for lunch on the 16th which I guess I was lucky to get - I hope I can get dinner at that time. And for the biggest news I was able to get the wishes dessert buffet on the 16th too at 9p. I figure after eating at LC at 2:40 we may not be hungry until 9 - so dessert for dinner! What a way to wrap up our trip!! I have not told the kids yet about Wishes - it will be a suprise!! OMG only 10 days to go - I have not packed a thing!

On a sad note, I have not been on the board recently, I very very very unexpectedly lost my mom on the 14th.:sad1::sad1::sad1: I am in such a funk/depression, etc. I hope I can enjoy Disney. I feel bad going, but I am sure she would want me to take the kids.... Sorry to be a downer on what should be such a happy time.:guilty:

  • I am so sorry to hear about your loss.

I need to get busy packing this weekend too.

I think we are going to end up with
an ice chest
toiletry bag
large suitcase
2 small suitcases
large plastic bin
duffle for shoes
large book bag - (for reading material during the drive and maps)
box of snacks

:scared1: yikes I feel like I'm moving - I hope it all fits in the expedition
maybe my DH was right when he said it wasn't all going to fit:rolleyes1
I hate it when he's right:headache:

The first time that we took the kids, my mother also came with us. We went in our Expedition and still had plenty of room! Three adults and three kids plus all of our suitcases, snacks, three car seats, diapers, toiletries, etc. I guess it all comes down to good packing! :thumbsup2

It's almost time! Work is getting tougher to deal with as I get closer to the day we're leaving, only 2 more working days to go!

I am SO jealous! We still have 13 more days. :sad2:

They're Disney Pirates of the Caribbean Crocs. Does that make it better (or worse)???

Uhm, no.

:lmao:

This is all I could find on short notice:
cigars.jpg

Look, I'm smoking a cigar and drinking beer. That sort of negates the Crocs, right? :confused3 Right?????????????????

My husband will be the one in Epcot walking around with beer non-stop! Now if he could only find cups that size (besides the restaurants) to walk around with in Epcot, I could buy whatever I wanted! :lmao:

Ok... maybe... just maybe.. I'm taking too much stuff. (you don't even want to know how many moving trucks it took to get us INTO this house) We've got 4 Costco Skyway rolling divided duffle suitcases, plus a Mary Poppins bag. Disney overnight bag, LLBean Hammock with frame. I will executively remove the folding picnic table from the list since only me and the 2 kids will fit at it. I'm bringing the drying rack again, 3 laptops (mine, DH's and DD21's), 1 lap desk, 1 large cooler and 1 playmate cooler for picnics by the pool, large thermos, stroller, sleeping bag for DD7 (its Hannah Montana), I'll executively remove the inflatable toddler bed, I usually have 3 Disney and 1 DVC boat tote bags filled with toys and accessories, I have so far, 4 paper grocery bags and 1 case of sun chips. 2 folding chairs, gotta bring a case of water, my clipboard opens to hold maps, directions, confirmation papers and a pocket knife. I'm bringing the crock pot, snow cone maker and ice tea maker, (removed the blender), oh.. and I have a large nylon grocery bag from Market Day that I fill and I have my old Tupperware kit bag that I fill with any linens such as beach towels, neat sheet and table cloth for picnic table. I'll bring ziploc storage containers for leftovers, paper goods etc.. but those all should fit in the canvas totes. Did I forget anything? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Remember.. I'll be the mini-van with the Thule on top:sad2:

The kitchen sink? :confused3

:rotfl2:

  • I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I lost mine two years ago. Though it may seem like the funk/depression will never end, it will come. You will always miss her; that feeling never goes away. But you will have many happy times. I am sure that being in WDW will lift your spirits. And it's okay to have fun - that was something that took me awhile to understand. :)

:cool1: I got it!! I got it!! :cool1: I was finally able to get the Wishes Dessert Party Thursday July 23 9:00 PM!!! This was my 4th try. I am so excited. I still can't believe I got it. I wanted it for Wednesday as that is the day we are planning on being at Magic Kingdom. But, we have park hopper passes, so we can spend the day at Hollywood Studios and then go to Magic Kingdom for dessert and watch the parade & fireworks. I have successfully gotten all the ADRs that I wanted. I just hope that I don't have too much planned and wind up needing a vacation after our vacation. :rotfl:

I spent this morning shopping for clothes for the kids. Next, will be me and DH. Not looking forward to it. :headache: I made our DISboard Banner to put in our window at POP so we might see some other DISers. I also made our stroller tag and ordered/designed our shirts to wear at MK. I got the misting fans and found kids mickey hats. I still have so much to do. :sad2: But, I have time.

Great! Thanks for the vote of confidence:tongue:

I have never been this far behind on planning. I think going in the summer for the first time is really throwing me for a loop. I just can't get motivated.

:cheer2: Single Digit Dance for me today!!!! :yay: :woohoo: :cool1:

can't believe it.. adding more & more to the pile of 'things to pack' in the second bedroom... i don't think DBF quite understands why the clothes are out on the bed, and keeps wearing clothes from his pile.. ? lol.

this week is going to fly by at work too as it's month end (crazy time in accounting land! lol) which means i have loads to do... with occasional peeks at my vacation planning spreadsheet ;)

it's really really warm in england this week, today it was 32 degrees... everyone is moaning about the heat, but i love it as it makes me think of orlando weather!! :cool2:

bit of drama yesterday... DBF's mom fell at the gym during an aerobics class, and sprained her ankle.. was in ER for 3hours yesterday having x-rays!! :scared1: luckily nothing is broken... we went to see her tonight with chocolates & flowers.. it's not too bad & she's confident she'll be fine to walk around WDW .... Next WEEK!!! :woohoo:

OMG tomorrow it's...... JULY! :cheer2:

I tried to get on about an hour ago, and got a google message that "the link appears broken" tried a few more times different ways. I'VE BEEN ON DISBOARDS SO LONG I BROKE IT! Talk about panic mode

  • I am so very, very, very, very sorry. I know your mom wants you to go. Try to think of it as a way to lift their spirits, too. My dad just found out he has kidney cancer, and made sure the dr's knew the surgery couldn't been until "after his babies met Mickey Mouse!" You'll make memories to pull from in the rough times ahead.

:lmao:I cannot WAIT to read this to my DH!!!!!!!! He will love me even more. Time to invest in a storage locker, I think! You have GOT to take a picture of your loaded van. Are you sure it's not a 15 passenger???

I'm getting into panic mode now! Help! I haven't started packing anything and I don't even know where to start or what I still need to buy. I'm usually pretty much ready at this point, but I've had overseas visitors for the past two weeks. They left on Sunday, which put me here :rotfl:

I just really got going this week. Do you want me to email you a copy of my packing list? Also, check out my PTR for my to do list, maybe that will help you think of something you need to do. Warning, I'm pretty OCD about this stuff!

I have never been this far behind on planning. I think going in the summer for the first time is really throwing me for a loop. I just can't get motivated.

I just realized that it will be July soon, and I've almost been off work for a month???? Don't know where that time went! (Yeah, I do. Here.)

Hey Everyone:

Just a quick question..

I'm starting to get my things in order for my trip and I was wondering a few things:

Does Disney have any restrictions on what you are able to bring into their parks?

Is there an extensive bag screening when entering the parks?

Are there lockers in the parks to keep your belongings when on the rides?

Sorry for all the questions.. This sounds so silly but I’m getting nervous.. hahah

If anyone knows the answers to any of my questions or where I can go to do my research I would be most appreciative!!!

Hi!
Regarding the bag search... i'm not sure of any bag size restrictions.. i think they are looking for weapons, glass bottles, ... things you wouldn't/shouldn't take to a theme park i guess?
the search doesn't take long and i've always found the disney security guards to be super friendly & it doesn't take away from the Magic, having to stop to have your bag checked!
i heard one security CM say one time at MK, "everybody, this lady has red apples in her bag.. if anything happens to snow-white today.. we know who to suspect!!" :rotfl: .. they're doing their job but keeping it fun! :thumbsup2

there are lockers at the front of each park for daily rental.. but i'm not sure i've noticed ones near rides - i know they have free lockers at that other Orlando themepark (universal something.... ;) ) ... some of the faster rides at wdw have pouches on the seat in front to secure your stuff (like Expedition Everest) .. i usually hold my bag between my feet, all zipped up tight!

We leave in less than 2 days and I have thrown my hip out.

I have been having problems with bursitis in my left hip for a few years. For the past 6 months or so it has been feeling great and not bothering me at all.

It has been acting up a little for the past few days. I think from the swimming and water aerobics I have been doing to get in shape for the trip. Walking down some stairs today, I took a step and my left leg almost collapsed and I had a shooting pain. Now it feels like it will collapse after about every 4 or 5 steps.

The worst thing is, my chiropractor is on vacation, and the lady that answers the phone informed me that "No, he does not have anyone on call covering for him, you will have to come in on Monday." Monday?? I will be at WDW on Monday! I checked with my regular doctor and he wants me to come in the morning and take some x-rays.

Hopefully he will be able to do something for me, besides tell me to "rest and take it easy for the next 10 days."

Anybody know how much it costs to rent one of those electric wheelchairs?? :rolleyes1

Good thing we do not have too much stuff planned, and my sister has no problem if we don't even make it into the parks every day!

aww man that's not supposed to happen:worried: I hope everything works out for you.

Hello, you folks have been very busy and there is no way I will get caught up. However, that creates a small issue in that some folks have not been added to our list.

So I ask a favor, if you wanted added I want you there. Please PM me you information such as dates of your stay and where you will be. I will add you once I get the information. I am so sorry I got sooo far behind but work and family has really been kicking my behind.

Happy planning, Lois

I hope this is an issue which can be easily resolved. Tells me I did the right thing by not finding time to exercise!! Let us know what the Doctor says. You can look on the bright side, you may need to rent a chair but you may also get front of line privledges. Maybe I should have exercised!! LOL

I will keep a positive thought that it will all work out in the end. Lois

Oh dear, I am so far behind on this thread! No time to catch up right now, but I have one short message:

it's July here!! :yay: 1:30 in the a.m. --> time for bed!

Good night!

Has anyone been able to get into the on line check in system in the last 24 hours? I am getting no where. Lois

Ok... folks.. I will post a photo of my van all packed. I'm bringing my laptop, so I can do it. My husband is an expert packer (he's a scout master). It always fits. I don't even have to bring a pack n play or full sized stroller this time. That stuff took up a lot of real estate in the van.

For the one who suggested that I might have forgotten the kitchen sink? Nope...we'll pick that up at Beaches & Cream!!!! 12 scoops as ice cream and all the toppings!! and bananas!! and " a whole can of whipped cream!!". Its spectacular if you've never had it! Its at the Beach Club Resort! No ADR necessary too!!
