Wow it feelsl ike i almost had a YEAR to go and now I am at 19 days!!! I can pre check in very very soon!!

We paid off our vacation last week...think we may still get our mickey mail? Hope so!!

I haven't started packing yet -- while my kids have tons of summer clothes, I don't have as many as I would like and I need to wear them between now and then. LOL (My wardrobe is mostly clothes I wear to work, with several pairs of shorts/capris to change into after work in the evenings). And every time I suggest that the girls start laying aside the clothes they want to take, they tell me that they don't want to do that yet. Oh well...DD14 does her own laundry and does her own packing (I'll just give her a list of how many of each item to pack, extras to pack, etc.), and she's good at it so I'm not really worried about her. DD10 is starting to do her own laundry and I'll do the same with her -- give her a list of what/how many of each item to pack and the extras and she'll be responsible for gathering them up. Then I'll check stuff off the list as we pack her suitcase together. DH will do his own packing, and I'll do my own.

I do have a box I've started for the extras I've been picking up -- ponchos, moleskin, band-aids, mini first aid kit, water flavorings, etc., and our water sox (since we'll only need those for the water parks and won't need them before our trip)...

There is just so much to do!

WE GOT OUR ADOPTION DATE!

August 7th at 9am!!!:goodvibes

And then we realized the girls may be gone with their biodad...so we might have to reschedule. :scared:

I don't have enough clothes either. I'll have to do laundry right before we leave. My DD and I went through and picked out clothes she wanted to wear, but she want to wear them before we leave. Same with the boys. My DH, on the other hand, will wait until the night before and then tell me that he doesn't have enough shorts for the trip.:sad2:
I've warned him that he'll go naked if he does this to me!

My DD21 probably doesn't have enough clothes. I told her a billion times to go through her stuff. DD7 has tons of clothes. I went to LLBean with DH and DS17 and they both got new shorts (whew). I got them those Rapid River shorts that dry quickly. That'll be great for DS at the water parks and DH and DS at Kali River or Splash Moutain. I even bought my very first hat! I know I'll need it for the sun. You're laughing cause I've never had a hat before, but I have poufy hair (snow white hair remember), and hats usually don't fit. I did find one that seems to fit though. I'm wondering if I should bring my parasol. I have a "Mary Poppins" parasol that would shield me from the sun. I also have some Japanese paper sun umbrellas. Don't know if they would be a good choice, or just get in they way? What do you think?

Hi everyone!

Another monday, another day closer... in fact, I only have one more monday at work til it's vacation time!!

my manager today asked me "when do you go away... mid July?".. i replied (maybe a little too enthusiastically) - "actually it's 10 DAYS to go!!" ... he looked a bit bemused that i was counting down days... omg if he only knew; the countdown began at 184!! :rotfl:

last night i started to lay out all our clothes & holiday goodies on the guestroom bed.... so exciting! ... i got Pal Mickey out and tried his batteries, he still works :D i got excited just hearing his little giggle and "oh boy!"s !!

DBF's mom was asking me at the weekend about towels, ironing boards etc at the hotel... she easily could've looked on the internet or in the Birnbaum guidebook i gave them to find out things like that! .... how do some people go on vacation without really knowing much about where they're going?? :confused3 lol.
i assured her that the YC would have an iron&board,fridge.. and even towels!

tomorrow i'll be joining the single-digit-dance!! :cool1:

Barbie princess: x x x

I can't imagine lugging a parasol around. I would worry especially about the paper sun umbrellas getting mashed or broken. I however, will have two kids and stroller, so who am I to talk???

I'll probably have the stroller with me a lot of the time too, especially in the evening. I'll have to see if the parasol can hang from the stroller without dragging. Its kinda long. Maybe I'll just take it to the pool and prop it on my chair. Its actually an antique that I recovered about 25 years ago. Unfortunately it doesn't have a talking parrot handle!! bummer!! I'd like that one!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm trying to rationalize doing the laundry today, when I know I will have to do another load before we leave  in 5 days. :cool1:

Hey -- we're both leaving on the same day! I can't wait.

If we hear reports of a naked man wandering around, we'll know it's your DH. LOL

My DH insists he has enough clothes, but I know better. I need to magically make a few of his pairs of shorts disappear and some new replacements ones magically appear without him knowing about it....LOL :wizard: He did buy some sandals today to wear to WDW, though -- without my knowledge or input, so they aren't the ones I've been researching that everyone here recommended. We'll see how they work out! He got them at the Nike outlet and says they're really comfortable, so we'll see. I guess I can cross "sandals for DH" off the shopping list.

I think the parasols and paper sun umbrellas would just get in the way.

Well we are mostly ready. Just a few odd and ends left to do. So not bad!

I managed to turn this:

Into this:

So I have two suitcases, the cooler and snack bag for the van. And the cameras of course! Not bad! The rest of the stuff is pictures and birthday presents we are dropping off to family when we stop at the park on the way!
