OFFICIAL JULY 2009 THREAD!!! The wait is on!!!

We went in July last year, July 19-21 to be excact, and it was pretty hot. Not too humid or wet, but very very HOT. Very high 90's for that trip, but there were enough places to find relief that it certainly wasn't a big deal for us.

I am counting on the heat! I figure that we will duck into a few stores or restaurants for a drink fairly often!

I would just check to assure that your dinning plan will be valid for the days you have planed. If you are going to stay on site for 2 nights I think you will only have three days not four. Please check so you do not find yourself wasting money.

I expect to see at least a little rain each day much like we often find in September. I don't think it will be bad. I suspect we will have 30 min to 1 hour every afternoon between 2 and 5 PM.

The way we manage this is to being a number of cheap rain ponchos. We buy them for under a dollar a local hardware and discount store. They come packaged in a small 3" by 5" square. Once we use then we just toss them at the end of the day. I need to get a few more for this trip as if we each have a new one for each day I woukld need 32 of them. Most likey will carry 5 for each and pray for a few dry days or try to reuse them. The issue is that they do not refold to as small and are not as easy to carry once opened.

Welcome to the newcomers and I will backtrack soon to get you added to our list. The who's going list can be found on page 3 of this thread in post 39. Lois

Lois,

You already have me on your list but we have added a day to our stay. Can you please change our days at ASMuFS to July 14 - 19th.

We took some cheaper ponchos last time and never used them. I will take your advice and get more though. I thought about craming the used ones into ziplock bags, but I am not sure if I want to stuff the backpack with 5 ponchos!

Thanks for the advice!! Now I am wondering how we are going to pass the time till our trip? :confused3 It's going to be a long June.

Did everyone see that Disney Store online is starting to offer some of the merchanise from the parks, including mouse ears, autograph books and some collectibles!!

I saw that! They send me an e-mail EVERY morning! Maybe they got sick of people calling merchandising and figured they might as well offer it on the website! I can't wait to see what other items show up there!

67 DAYS!!!!!

I can not wait for the month of June to get here and then to leave! LOL Now if only our week at Disney would go as slowly as the next few weeks!

Yup I received the e-mail about the merchandise.

Was happy about it since I know the price of a few items I want.

The CR for the monorail and the little cute pens.

I also got the emails about the park merchandise at the Disney Store. Its ABOUT time!! I hope they'll have pins. I haven't been able to find a OKW pin to commemorate our trip last October. I like to have one for each resort we stay at, each event we attend (MNSSHP, Food & Wine, Flower & Garden) as well as our favorite rides. I buy a pin for DD6 each time she tries a new "big kid" ride.

I have thought hard about the ponchos. I still have some yellow mickey ones left from 2000 or 2005!! My DH can fold anything back up into its original size. He's got the talent. I'm just not sure I want to be under a plastic poncho in the heat! I find them less than comfy. I think I'd rather just get wet. If I have something to cover my hair, I wouldn't really care if my clothes get wet, afterall, they should dry fast in the heat. Its like going on Kali River or Splash Mt. right?

As long as you keep hydrated everything should be ok with the heat. My DN (nephew) wouldn't finish his beverages with our meals on our 4/07 trip. He ended up so dehydratedthat he was throwing up with a had headache and instead of enjoying EMH one night at the MK, we were in the infirmary getting him to drink some powerade ,slowly. I think it is great however, that they HAVE an infirmary staffed by licensed professionals. :woohoo:

Oh, I know what you mean! I want our time to go slow as well!

Oh, how sad. I am glad that he got better. That is nice that they have those in WDW and I imagine that they are used constantly.

I got the e-mail too! I was so excited....I can't wait to see what else they add!

Last year we went in August and it was hot and would rain in the afternoon daily. I'm pretty sure it will be even more hot then it was last year and the rain will be about the same!

we will be staying at the Beach Club July 13-19. No reservations to eat. We are probably going to fill the trunk w/ Pop Tarts:rotfl2: We have never done deluxe and have to pinch pennies somewhere:)

You'll be there the same week as we will, but we're at SSR. We're eating at Cape May for a CB on Monday morning. I've always been able to find places to eat even without ADR's. Resort restaurants tend to be less crowded than the park restaurants. Obviously. We've squeezed in at Shutters, Olivia's, Spoodles. This is how the dining compares. We took a trip with all 5 of us and paid for our own meals. Then I compared that to what we would have paid for the DVC dining plan. (same as other plans but paid separately). It was nearly exactly the same to the penny. The difference was that if we'd been on the meal plan, we would have eaten MORE food. If you like to eat full meals with dessert for ALL your meals, then dining is your deal. If not, skip it. Too much food. We also plan to eat the majority of our meals in the villa as we will be a party of 7 this time, and it will be way too expensive to eat out all those meals. Not to mention that when you're done with a week on the dining plan, you need a week on Biggest Loser!! :rotfl:

my wife said that she is bringing ziploc bags and saving all the half eaten stuff we buy for the kids. They really dont eat much except pizza. I heard that the burgers at hurricane hannahs are good and only about 6 dollars w/fries. :thumbsup2

We just got very bad news. The tests on Janet's mom don't hold out too much hope. We are going this weekend to visit and we don't know just when she will be called home for good. This is so hard being close to Mother's day.

Tomorrow they are going to try some procedure and if it works great. If it doesn't work she is only expected to live a number of weeks. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks for all the prayers.

I'm so sorry. I'll pray that the procedure goes smoothly and works well for her. Enjoy your time with her over the weekend!

I'm terribly sorry to hear that. We will also pray that she finds this treatment a success. Its comforting to know that G-d has a greater plan than we know.

I am very sorry to hear that. I hope that they can at least find some way to make her as comfortable as possible. My prayers are with you and your family.

We will continue to pray and hope until she has gone. We have know way to know what God has planned.

I agree that I find comfort in know that it is not in my control. We will hope for the best and prepare for the worst. I just want her to be comfortable and not be torn about by knowing that she only has a short time left.

We can use all the prayer we can find. I do not know when we will know if the treatment they are giving will be sucessful. I just need to be able to support Janet through this. It is alway hard when a person that you care about has died. It just leave a hole and can never be filled.

On the selfish side I don't know what we will do if she dies but wait until the time we are to be at WDW. When my sister died we were on a cruise and there was nothing we could do so we finished the cruise and then planned the funeral. If it was just us adults going we would change when we are going but we are taking the grandkids and we are scheduled at the only time I can get them in the summer due to the fact that they both have lifes. Just another ting I do not have any control.

I am very happy you all are OK reading me rambling on. It is helping me keep my mind calm and things OK. Lois
