If anybody is awake now... History Channel is showing Modern Marvel's Disney World. It is a new one too. Updated. Not the same as the one they sell on DVD. It covers Wall-E and the Toy Story Ride.

We were glued to the TV watching it last night. 2 weeks til I'm on a plane headed that way!

I'm sad I missed that! That Modern Marvels is the best Disney special. I own the DVD but I always watch if I catch it on tv. I"ll have to look for it again.

been to DW 5 times first time on or around dec 79 (stayed at the old treehouse villas... my dad had an in at GE co who did big business w/ Disney at the time).

heres my question to all you experts: we are staying at WL (woods view bunk beds) 7/17 to 7/25. I have been before in the summer and i know its HOT and crowded. However, with the 4/3 over for July and the economy still struggling.... do you think the crowds may be a little thinner this year??? i just check availability at all values and WL and they are not sold out.

either way...crowded or not...who cares!!! we are going to Disney!!

btw i have two daughters 12 and 10 (this will be thier 4th trip)

Congrats on the upcoming trip. The WL is my fav! I'm wondering about lighter crowds this summer too. I guess only time will tell....

Do you have any ADRs?? Check out the list on the top of page 67 to see where everyone on this thread is dining and if you want yours added to the list, just post them here and I will add them.

If the crowds will be thinner this summer, I wish they would cut the Seasonal Passholders black-out dates. We have season passes and will be in Orlando for a week in July and would LOVE it if they would allow us in.

I can't imagine them doing that, though.

We love WL - and the woods view bunk beds are great rooms! That is what we always stayed. If you request the north wing, you are close to the boat dock and Roaring Forks (counter service) but it is a bit of a trek to the bus stop. The south wing is the opposite, close to the bus stop but further to the boat dock and Roaring Forks.

As for crowds, we were there in April (week before Easter) and it was the worst I have ever seen Disney (even other Easters). I think a lot of people jumped on the first 4/3 offer and went in the spring. I am also hoping it will be less crowded in July but who knows. At least there are longer park hours and that helps a lot.

Like you said, who really cares, you will be at Disney - enjoy!!

i have already requested north wing 5th or 6th floor thru my TA.... hoping to get a glimpse of the fireworks thru the trees....

i will post out dining AR as soon as i get my butt out of this chair and retrieve my spreadsheet this year we are doing it a little different... we are getting ADR's for a nice sit-down lunch everyday at 1:00 (to escape the heat, and we are not big breakfast eaters), going back for a quick swim/rest, then back to a park and we will grab something fast at night. hopefully this works for us. at other times of the year we ususally do ADR's for dinner. Again, who cares WE ARE IN DISNEY!!!

We were lucky enough to get room 6020 each time over our 3 visits to WL, but the trees did get taller and fuller and the view of the fireworks more obstructed. The balconies on the 6th floor are also enclosed, so you do have to stand to see out, but they are also very private.

I love lunch ADRs, they are usually a little less expensive and it is a nice break in the day. That is also when the parks are really crowded so a good time for a rest!

We chose to do a lot of lunches this time too. Figured we'd save a little money that way, especially with the buffets...same food, different price! Might as well do lunch! Plus, we want to try to snack more this time and we are always limiting ourselves because we didn't want to spoil our appetite for dinner, so this way we'll get our big meal out of the way and we can snack the rest of the day!

Back on the subject of the History Channel Modern Marvel's Walt Disney World. I double recorded it last night. Good thing too, because for some reason, my brain thought that 1:03 am was 2 hours after 11:57pm and I accidentally only recorded the first hour on my VHS. Luckily I had DD20 record it on the DVR downstairs. (can't work that thing yet). I tried twice to catch the whole thing and both times missed a big chunk. I looked online at the DVD and it has a 2006 copywrite. That means that the special we watched last night is updated. It covered the Toy Story ride and Wall-E which are since 2006.. they're new. Wall-E by the way turns out to be a free roaming audio-anamatronics character. Not a ride. As of the filming of the updated show, it was not yet operational and in the parks, but the free-roaming dinosaur audio-animatronic character IS. But they said they only have 1 and it spends time in all the parks including overseas.

Interestingly, at the same time, the Food Channel ran an episode of a Disney Cake Challenge. The contestant chefs had to zoom from the studio to the parks following clues about a family that would be their client for the episode. Then they had to make a cake for that family's "What Will You Celebrate" celebration. I watched part of that.. wishing I could tape or DVR both at the same time.

It definately geared me up for my trip.
