OFFICIAL JULY 2009 THREAD!!! (Part 2) It's here!!

Hey folks! We did make it to the fireworks. Illuminations, Reflections of Earth. We had great seats because MIL is in a scooter, so we got to sit in the handicapped priority seating over by the Rose & Crown.

Here's the deal with the weather. In the morning, it is sunny and beautiful. The sky is deep blue and there are puffy white clouds. EVERY single afternoon there are isolated and/or scattered thunderstorms. For instance, one day we had a high tea at the Grand. about 3:40pm it began to rain, then it began to downpour. We got stranded at the Grand til around 4:30 when they re-opened the monorail and it slowed down enough to leave. When we got back to Saratoga, it wasn't raining. We talked to DH and DS who were at EPCOT the whole time and it never even rained there!! One day DD and DS got rained on 3 times at Blizzard Beach, but we didn't get rained on at the MK. Today, we returned to Saratoga from AK all sweaty and hot and wanted to jump in the pool. As soon as we'd changed and walked the 20 feet to the pool, they closed it because there was lightning. It was dark in the distance, but sunny over us. We waited about 30-40 minutes and they re-opened the pool evening though we could by then hear thunder. But it never rained on us. Our first day at MK, before our room was ready, so everything was still in the car, we got trapped at MK in a wretched downpour that flooded Tomorrowland with 5 inches of rain. We were on Tomorrowland Motor Speedway when it started, so we couldn't get out of the rain. We had to continue on til we got to the end of the track. It was raining so hard we couldn't see. It rained for about an hour to an hour and a half, then let up. Oh.. and the rain itself was actually COLD water. I always thought the rain itself would be warm water down here. But its not.

Tomorrow is DHS!:3dglasses

Thanks for the update :flower3:. We leave in 2 hours :cool1:. I just checked the weather and was worried we would be rained out the whole time. First sunny day it seems is the day we leave...:scared:

ok last day!

WE leave at 5am. It shows that someone is driving us. Normally my dad is so nervous he gets us there and the airline hasn't even opened their counter heheh

My mom told my dad that he better get used to saying: Yes dear. Sure dear. What you want dear. hehe

So I'm at work now until 2:00 and then no more work until Friday the 31st! Yay!

2 more days!!!

For those getting ready to leave please remember to drink lots of water. It is very hot and muggy. Also please use your fast passes. Without them lines were very long. Remember that you can get another fast past 2 hours later even if you can't use the last one yet. Most rides were running out of fast pases in the early afternoon as well.

The tour groups were a minor issues as well. They tend to be rude, cutting into line to be with the group and very loud. H]They also have one person get 100's of fast passes so watch for this when in line and try to avoid getting behind them.

It will rain for at least a few every afternoon. We used ouir rain gear many days in out trip.

We loved America Idol. Great talent and a good time. If you want to go to the 7PM final show go early. We were at the 6 PM show and almost did not get into the 7 PM show. If you can not get in the show it on a flat screen outside the theater.

Well I go to get myself together. If anyone has any questions about what is happening please ask and I will attempt to get you the answer. It is very good to be home but also somewhat sad. On to planning the back to back for next year. Lois

Thanks for the update!

ok, time for lunch then a nap. I am tired and it's raining. What's better than a hopefully long nap before we leave at 5am?

So Lois...did you have a great time??? And did you get lots of photopass pics???

We had a great time but I broke a tooth, Austin and Janet both caught a cold and were under the weathewr for a couple of days and of course Beth turned 13 years old and was acting every year of it. I don't think she missed anything to complain about.

I am very happy that I did not have any pain with the tooth that broke but now I need to have it repaired $$$$ or pulled $$. Now that is painful.

We got about 40 pictures. I am sure we will get a few good ones. I don't think Beth simled in even one of them. It was so hot it was hard to feel like taking pictures. The first few days it was hard to catch the Photopass staff but later we were able to get some taken. I look forward to being able to down load them and see what I can do with them.

Sorry to hear about your tooth. How did you break it? I'm worried about getting sick over there because i have heard alot people get sick or come back sick from DW:sick:

lol:rotfl2:thanks for letting me know, i don't know why:confused3but i thought it would be warm too:rolleyes:

The clod rain can feel very good when it id 92 out and so humid that you feel like you are in a sanua.

It was a tooth that should of had a crown put on it years ago. I was snacking in the room the first day and bite down on more than the cracker. I am very happy that it broke on the outside and not the inside so it did not cause much discomfort. Just a lot of concern that it would start to be painful or break even more. But I was very lucky and I did fine.

As far as getting sick make sure that you are eating and getting plenty of water. You know that clear tasteless liquid that we often forget. Also assuring that you get enough sleep will help. That may mean leaving a little early to go to bed but if it keeps you from getting sick it will be worth it. I believe Austin got sick because he had just returned from a three week trip from Washington DC and I doupt he took care of himself while there. Janet has issues with upper resp infections but was only down for part of one day. So we did well all things considered.

Wow, I'm hearing and seeing a lot about the rain. We haven't been down there when it hasn't rained at least a little. One year we spent a really cold day at Hollywood Studios (then MGM.)
There really isn't much you can do about it once you're down there so we learned to just make the best of it. We usually take advantage of it by moving through the much less crowded walkways a lot faster. A lot of people run and hide inside somewhere. We stay out and play in the rain. Warning however, some of the streets get kinda slick when they are wet. I found out the hard way last year and slid around MK and Epcot a little bit here and there.
From the sounds of some of the downpours, I may consider packing an inflateable raft for this year. Ha ha! :boat:

Hello - We will be at the Poly from July 26 - August 1st.
Then transferring to the Beach Club on August 1st to the 8th.
8 more days!!!!

I told DH what you said about the weather. In the FL panhandle, it is the same way most of the time. So, we are planning on getting an early start each morning and do as much as we can. That way if it starts raining we can decide on if we want to continue you on at the park or head back to POP. I also made sure we have enough ponchos and a small umbrella. Last time we went it rained a couple of days. We were at EPCOT and MK. We put on or ponchos and kept on going. :goodvibes Maybe the rain will be mostly scattered and not last too long. We can only hope.

Sorry to hear about your tooth. That happened to DH on vacation once. My family is on the mend from a cold and we sure are hoping that we don't catch another while there. But, I just got done packing our medicine bag just in case. Thanks for the advice about the Fastpass. I will make sure DH or I get ours early on and I hope we don't encounter the rude tour groups.

These boards have gotten so quiet! I think everyone is either busy getting ready to go, AT the park...or recovering from the trip!!! :)

And I know at least one of us is GETTING MARRIED TODAY! whoohoo! Congrats!

Everyone but me [sigh].

Shirts are all done. Wife is gone. It's too early to pack. Kind of in a holding pattern.

I think I'll work on our lanyards (adding some pins to trade, taking off the pins we want to keep).

Kind of procrastinating here.

Wanna go to bed early but not sure if I'll sleep.

Shower taken.

I'm gonna go my make-up soon (mascara to be put on before we leave hehe) and gonna try and sleep.

Well guys.

I'm logging on for the last time before August 2.

See ya real soon!
