Official January 2015 Thread!!!

I can't wait for my next trip to the World, now 37 days and counting. My Disney Partner In Crime and I are heading out on the 17th and staying all the way through the 25th. We'll be at the Beach Club for the first time and can't wait for our first experience of Deluxe Resort living.

I just scored the coveted Anna and Elsa FP for all 3 of us. I am still in shock by it. I did have one when I first made FP+ at my 60 day window but had to let it go due to changing our dates and I have been looking for one ever since. We will meet the 2 sisters on our last full day. The only down side is that the FP time is for early evening, but I figure since we are going the end of January, and the crowds for MK that day aren't going to be bad, we probably won't need to get too many FPs for that day. Really I am just happy that my DD will be meeting them for the second time, she was so bummed when I told her that I had to let the other FP go :goodvibes.

Our MagicBands arrived!!! :yay:

23 days and counting!

Also wanted to give a tip that might be obvious to some but has really helped me. If there's a reservation you want that has no availability KEEP TRYING! I look almost every day and I have been able to snag some hard to get reservations including Be Our Guest for TWO dinners at great times, 'Ohana, and California Grill during Wishes. I have also heard that people are able to get them the day before, when people need to cancel ADRs without a penalty.

Just found this thread! Being a Disney virgin myself I had no idea what kind of ridiculous planning this was going to entail when I booked my trip on November 11th. I can't describe the surprise when I found out that I was already four months behind on making ADRs!

My husband and I (37, 42) are newbies and are taking our 5 children- ages 1, 5, 11, 17 and 19 January 8-14th. I haven't told the kids yet. We're saving it for a Christmas surprise.

I don't think I've ever been so excited for Christmas in my whole entire life!!!

This is our first time too and I am trying to save it to tell my son the day before we depart! I am having a hard time keeping it in!

I thought about doing that too, because my daughter turns 17 on the 7th, the day before we leave. I just couldn't do it though. Plus, it saved me money...you see, now I can buy the kids stuff for Christmas that they'll need for the trip (new swimsuits, backpacks for the plane, etc) and call it a Christmas present! ha ha ha

I am thinking about doing a scavenger hunt for the big reveal on Christmas morning. I will give each child pictures of different places in the house where I've hidden puzzle pieces. Then they will need to all gather back at the table to put the puzzle together and the puzzle will spell out - "We're going to Disney World & Universal Studios in Florida in two weeks! You better get packed!!!"

Just want to second this! I was able to snag Be Our Guest ressies (for 1/10) yesterday after trying everyday for the last couple weeks. Keep trying!

Great idea!

We are flying Southwest when we go and my girlfriend informed me this morning that Southwest has lowered their rates for the end of January (she will be there the week before us). I checked and my flight going and coming back (same times) was $44/person round trip $86/person. I saved over $500 switching out my flights, now I have a nice credit that we could use for later this year :cool1:. This is the first time we are flying Southwest, and so far I am really liking what I am seeing :goodvibes.

Niiiiice! We always fly Southwest whenever we can. The free baggage is always nice! :)

Is it really only 24 days!! Oh my gosh. I'm getting excited. We haven't received our magic bands yet, does anyone know when those ship?

I received mine last week, I think it was Saturday. We are arriving on Jan 5, so I would think you'll be getting a shipping email soon! Yay!!!

Thank you so much! Hubby and I have been looking every day in the mail and so far nothing. I'm sure they will be coming soon. Probably delayed a bit with all the Christmas packages being mailed at the same time.

:santa:

We check in on the 8th and received ours last Saturday.

Since I'm staying offsite, I purchased our magic bands via the Disney Store.

I can't believe it's only 9 more days until I finally get to tell the kids! My hubby keeps saying that he hopes their reaction is as excited as I'm anticipating it to be so I don't feel let down. :-)

I'm at the 40 day mark and the anticipation is killing me! This is my first trip to Disney since I was six and will be the first trip for my son. I am so excited!

Our magic bands arrived yesterday. We arrive on January 10th! I was like a kid opening the package and admiring them!!

We received our Magic Bands this week for our trip that starts on January 9th. I would think that everyone checking during the first couple of weeks of January should receive them soon if they haven't already.

That's exciting! My trip is on the 23rd so I should get mine after Christmas!
