*** OFFICIAL January 2013 Thread ***

Hi y'all! :goodvibes

I have a serious problem. I have changed resorts, travel times, packages... pretty much everything, about eleventybillion times since February. We have FINALLY settled on everything... and I say that with reservation, because we haven't booked airfare yet. :rolleyes1

With that said, I'm very happy to be joining the group!

We're staying at CSR 1/27-2/2 - hoping for FD, and yes, I'm totally willing to change my dates by a week or so in either direction to take advantage of it. I have no shame. I own it. :thumbsup2

Yay so happy I found this!
We r going the first week and it's our first trip. My 4 yr old dd is no e the wiser. So far only made 2 hotel readies and a bunch of adds but can't decide if they need to be changed. What's the thought re emh and the parks - to avoid or not? With the little kids (will also have an8 month old) downs t look like we will be able to take advantage of the night emh and likely going to do 2 morning adrs at the parks - so thoughts???
Advice is appreciated!

And we'll be going for 3 weeks (with one day in Universal), how much of the park will we be able to see?

If you're going to be there for 3 weeks then I think you should spend a little more time than 1 day at Universal. Universal Orlando has 2 big parks and with the extremely popular Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure I'd take 3 days out to see both parks without too much of a hurry and being able to repeat some of your favorite rides.

That's what we'll be doing at those same weeks when we stay in Orlando for a little over 2 weeks. We're taking 8 days for Disney parks, 3 to Universal/IoA, 1 to Sea World and 1 to Busch Gardens Tampa. The rest will be shopping and just chilling days!

I recommend you to include not only Universal but at least a day at Sea World as well.

And welcome to the Disboards! :cool1:

I agree, I would plan on 3 days. We went to US in Oct 2007, and I think we went to the parks 3 days, and that was before HP opened.

Looks like you're right! I would love to visit Disney every year, must be quite the treat! I've been to Disneyland twice so far, once with my father and another with my boyfriend and his family.

Thank you for all your help! I don't mind a bit of rain and the excessive crowds won't bother me much for the weekend. January seems like a wonderful time to go, even better now that I'll be 21 and can indulge in a few of their fancy drinks!
:)

I'm going to DL for the first time in October! I'm so excited, any pointers there?

And adult beverages? Have a margarita in Mexico (so good!) and a Grand Marnier in France (on my todo list!)

I have already made all my ADR's for our trip but decided today that I wanted to add Tusker House for breakfast. I tried 2 different days and it says that nothing is available for the times that I am looking for. That makes me really nervous that it is going to be super crowded when we are there! I'm already nervous enough about this trip as it will be our first time travelling with DD! I'll just keep checking back I guess! :goodvibes

Actually, what the more likely scenario is, is that they just haven't opened up reservations yet to TH. This has happened in the past, where certain restaurants just don't have open reservations quite yet. Don't fret too much about it being busy. :goodvibes In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you called, the CM would probably tell you that reservations haven't opened yet for TH but to keep an eye on it, etc.

I believe that some restaurants tend to fill up everyday. But some people make more ADRs than they intend to attend at least on a first moment before deciding on an exact plan for parks and dining! I suggest you keep trying the reservations site or calling them to check a whole range of days.

I don't think my group is going to make any ADR's for this trip but you never know with my group (the main four that usually goes on every trip - my mom, aunt, brother, and me). We might get something in our heads and make some.

That said, we can't wait for our trip. Glad there's a lot to keep us busy until then - school, holidays, etc.

Anyone else here trying to add BOG ADRs. I'm worried that the day I want will be filled up by the time I get through finally. I can always switch another ADR for it but I'm really not in the mood to play muscial ADRs.

Yep, it took 200 redials but I finally got through and made my reservation through the automated system (if it works it's much faster than being on hold for an agent). I'm exhausted and probably will be at work, but we have reservations for January 18th, haha.

Lucky! At last check still hadn't gotten through. I'm headed to class so I'm hoping my Mom will succeed where I kept failing.

Did it ask for a CC. I read on another board that there was something wrong with the automated system and if it didn't ask for CC you need call back and talk to an agent to give them your CC otherwise your res will be cancelled. Not trying to freak you out I just don't want you to lose your ressie.

I've been trying for the last 30 minutes keep getting busy signals.

Haha no, thank you for saying that! Fortunately, I read the same thing that you did over on the BOG thread, and called back. I sat on hold for 30 minutes and finally got a CM. She ended up charging my card $.01, then was able to just add the card to my current reservation, not canceling it or rebooking it.

She said it was very good that I called back, otherwise I'd have lost my reservation! I can't even imagine how many people aren't going to know to call back and make sure the CC is on file, and end up losing their reservations. It's going to be a disaster. :headache:

So we got through finally but didn't get the reservation. Why? Because our Internet decided to drop for what feels like the millionth time this summer. And my Mom was on Skype which requires Internet to talk. Too make things even 'better' my Mom had finally gotten through to a CM. She was starting to make the reservation when it dropped. Does my Internet hate me or something?!

On the bright side we know there is openings still available. Mom found that out when she had the mishap with the automated system.

Good. I got through and got a ressie for 1/20 at 5:35pm for 7 people and we are sitting together.

Sending pixie dust out to everyone trying to get theirs pixiedust: and to the CM's dealing with all of this.

Finally got in for BOG! Have our reservations for the 11th at 6:20.

We're there on Jan 11. Can't wait to experience it, so I can forget what a supreme hassle it was to make this ADR!
